The original Louis was such a great character because honestly in my opinion she's one of those female characters ever written she's not a damsel in distress but she's also not fucking Wonder Woman. Does she need to get saved every now and then? Yes but she also saves the main character when he's in trouble. To all the screenwriters who were writing these Mary Sue characters nowadays take notes from RoboCop.
StitchedTogetherPics great channel hope you get more subs. you just earned one from me🖒 i love your boots to reboots series very entertaining and original. would lije to see you do a review on the remakes of "the fly" and "the blob"
shit 40k is more than most. People can always strive for more but also be greatful theyre in a much better situation than most. I do agree that this man shoul and WILL have over 100 k
God... This review is effing hilarious! All these "Boots to Reboots" videos are *so* great. We *have* to get this guy as many subs as we can, because if anyone deserves the views it's Andy.
21:47 ..It is very very rare that I laugh out loud by myself in front of the pc.....that part deserves a YT award for funniest moments in movie reviews lol
Your reaction at the start made me laugh so much because it's so genuine to how I and I think many others reacted to the initial news of a remake. Sadness then the after shock of 'PG13?' haha.
The difference between the two I think is the tone that the makers were shooting for, the original knew that it would never be taken serious just by the idea and name alone, so it didn't take itself serious, giving it humor and trying to prove themselves intelligent. The remake, on the other hand, thought as itself much more serious, probably due to the fact that it was a remake of classic, leading to not be able to feel intelligent in it with its statements without any humor.
The original was biting social satire hidden behind a silly concept. The reboot doesn't attempt to be anything more than an action movie about a cyborg cop which is fine but forgettable.
Well the reboot is really bad but we also have RoboCop 3 which is in my opinion the worst of the series , i will admit RoboCop 2 isn't perfect but it felt like RoboCop no romantic subplot but out of blue in 3 we have RoboCop falling in love with lewis and then the rebel doctor WTF! you're joking right ? The story does not make sense because like Batman and Robin it was made to sell toys yeah, they made the movie PG-13 to sell toys to kids and teenagers.
@@SeekerLancer I wouldn't go as far as to call the satire "biting". Paul Verhoeven's satire has always been as intelligent as a hammer directly in the face. At least in the remake, as shitty as it is, RoboCop wasn't quite as directly ripped off from Judge Dredd as he was in the original.
Trying to make movies have massive, world-wide appeal (i.e. setting it around the world, making PG-13, etc.) has left us with boring garbage. I wouldn't buy this film for a dollar.
It doesn't even make sense. They can just censor the movie. The '80s kids and us '90s kids grew up on RoboCop. Because we watched it on TV. When I was 10 my mom bought it for me VHS. Not remembering how bad it was uncensored. The movie was quickly sold to a pawn shop.
I laughed my head off at the comparison between Robocop in the 2014 remake and Buzz Lightyear! It's easy to see the potential for good storytelling and satire in a modern day Robocop, but everything you highlighted in this video shows where the studio made all the wrong decisions, and it's a shame in the end.
Andy this video is spot on and as soon as i get some spare dough im gonna donate to your patreon your videos rule been a fan for years glad to see your still at it man

StitchedTogetherPics your right bro it was commissioner Gordon evil bruce Wayne and james Brown lol......i lost my shit when u said tht you'z a foo man.... good review im a have to sub ya pimp
Great look at this movie. The producers who made this PG-13 in hopes of getting a bigger audience really shot themselves in the foot. Imagine if Deadpool was made the same way. I hope you'll do one on Rabid when the remake of that one get finished
LOLZ and I (Gory) tried to watch the remake and we got about five minutes in before we gave up. We applaud you for surviving this crapfest over 84 times. Glad this one got the boot. Also, we'd love to see you do the Prom Night remake. One of the worst out there. It calls for your boot!
+HORROR ADDICTS I really did struggle while watching it. I had to sit through it multiple times because I kept giving up. I later turned it into a joke in the video. Prom Night is definitely on the list!
+StitchedTogetherPics I think you should do a mega boots to reboots and compare the 50's The Thing, the John Carpenter The Thing, and the 2011 version.
I have watched this review over a dozen times, all of your videos keep me entertained while I deliver newspapers over night. Thank you for what you do! I also have to say I agree, this movie is upsetting because it had so much potential, it could have been as awesome as the original but nope. Typical Hollywood.
Another soulless, sterile cash-in that completely missed the point of the original. Wonder how a "modern" remake of They Live would go, how would Hollywood satirize mindless consumerism and herd mentality in a summer blockbuster that requires both?
One of the best reviews I've seen on this piss poor remake, definitely deserved the boot, awesome channel, awesome content, Andy your a one off eccentric genius buddy.
I know the director and lead actor really tried to get an R rating for the movie but when the studio increased the budget they didn't see it as viable, shame. Great review. There doing a remake of Buckaroo Banzai, well, a tv show.
Good Andy is my favorite.... Although probably in public areas with friends with soda, beer, coffee or anything with any sugar or caffeine, I'd probably have more in common with evil Andy.
I've been binge watching your videos, and I am highly impressed! You definitely deserve more recognition than you get. Definitely subbed, and hope you get many more.
Hello from New Zealand Andy! Fantastic job on this video and as always you are spot on. I couldn't bring myself to watch this or Total Recall, keep up the great work man.
Just found your channel! No idea how or why but I sure am glad I stumbled upon you or should I say you guys and your great content! I hope and wish you would upload more content because its GOLD BABY,GOLD.
Great review my friend, I agree 100% with you! Like an old school RoboCop fan I found this remake offensive, it looks more like an anti RoboCop movie than a remake of the original, it gives me the impression that was written and directed by someone who hates the original franchise and their characters (changing the gender of Anne Lewis was a huge mistake)... But the biggest mistake for me was the change of the original design, it's an irony that the most expensive RoboCop movie ever made has the worst looking RoboCop ever (a dumb guy with a Batman power suit and a missing glove)... Honestly, I prefer to watch the four Prime Directives movies than watching this piece of garbage again...
I love how we went from a funny quietly spoken Andy, to a loud and hilarious outward spoken Andy. Hell it’s changed so much the bandages show more of his face overtime.
The first one holds up not just cause of the over top violence which was supposed to be that way but cause it has good characters a good story and is a parody of 80's excess.
Nearly pissed myself laughing at the passed out Andy montage to the Robocop theme. And the movie was so damn forgettable I got caught thinking the Andy robocop scenes were the move ie: "aagggh where's my d*ck?!" Pretty new to the channel but you more than earned my subscription with your humor, detailed analyses and obvious love for good cinema
for a media assignment i had to compare the original film to a remake or reboot. i did it on robocop and i swear to god at 2:23 to 3:16 i went through the exact same process about 4 times XD
I can't believe how good that generic training sequence was when you just replaced the song with the Robocop theme. Using the theme appropriately throughout could have probably given that movie a 10% bump.
It pisses me off to no fucking extent when these god damn production companies take awesome R rated violent movies from the 80's and 90's and fucking nueters them to get a PG-13 rating. Just as an example you can use Robocop and Total Recall: 2 awesome cult classic violent movies, and essentially piss all over their fan base and legacy of the originals, and produced watered down and lame fucking PG-13 remakes. The reason they do it is so fucking obvious too: They water it down enough to get the PG-13 rating so that they can sell as many movie tickets as possible, making sure they can get the high school crowd into theaters, then when the Blu Ray comes out, it is released as the unrated directors cut special edition, where they show the film it was supposed to be. So basically movie studios are pissing all over classic movies and filming 2 different versions of the film, one for the PG-13 under 17 audience, and another unrated Blu Ray version for adults, generating 2 seperate revenue streams for a single movie. God dammit I fucking hate the PG-13 rating, its destroying movies. When the rating was first created, it was actually a good idea and worked. Before the early 1980's there was only the PG and R ratings. When Spielberg produced Gremlins, they wanted to give him an R rating, and Indiana Jones and Poltergeist faced the same dilemna: They werent exactly PG rated kids movies and they werent quite R rated adults movies. So Spielberg lobbied to the MPAA to create a rating that was middle ground, and thats when the PG-13 rating was born. It worked perfectly through the 80's and 90's, as there was now a rating that directors could use to make movies for the largest movie theater demographic, high school kids. But the PG-13 rating has become a fucking monster, destroying a shitload of movies in the last 2 decades. FUCK PG-13!!!!!!!
SinCity Sinner as far as they go though RoboCop wasn't the worst. I enjoyed it as it's own thing. Oh yes it's clearly nowhere remotely near the OG, but its not terrible.
Right up there with RLM in my opinion, cant believe Chris Stuckman and Jeremy Johns have 1 million subs and you dont have 50k....the world is an embarrassing nightmare....
I’ve seen this video a bunch of times and I love it more and more. But I just realized that at 0:08 he’s putting in RoboCop 3. I always thought he was gonna watch the original
This is my first video I've watched on this channel and I feel as though I've missed out on years of quality. I've already got a second video up (Halloween). Also really feel the PG13 reaction.
Somehow, I think the main problem with the Remakop is tha it both tried too hard, and not hard enough to be the original It could have been its own beast
Sadly, bad movies (reboots or not) don't make me hate them, unless they're abominations that should never be seen by human eyes again. They simply get a meh from me. I dig watching you dissect films up to and including taking a jackboot to them.
The old iconic Robocop theme is such a 'FUCK YEAH!' piece of music, I don't think it would have fit the remake as there are no scenes that get me that pumped for the old theme to seem appropriate.
Super late on this but I wanna say the song used in the training sequence in the reboot is the same song used in the foot chase scene in Baby Driver and was used waaaay better in Baby Driver.
I like the theory someone proposed that the script was originally for some man-and-machine sci-fi movie that the studio decided to retool it and slap the RoboCop name on it to get more people into the theater.
Hopefully the studio stays the hell out of Neill Blomkamp's way and Robocop Returns will be the movie we wanted to begin with. I say that as someone who didn't dislike this reboot, it was just disappointing because of what it could have been.
Funny... I bought this movie for $4 on Blu Ray at Fry's Electronics... it's sitting on my shelf next to my 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition RoboCop knowing that it will never be picked up again as long as the original is still there.
9:07 He's got a Sage Deuce double-barrel 40mm grenade launcher, so he's the primary target for more than one reason. He's packing a weapon that might actually deal some damage to Roboflop. 17:32 Elite?! Shyah! As if! An "elite" would know how to wear a beret properly. The insignia should go over the wearer's left eye and the draped material goes over the right ear. Also, berets aren't worn in combat (yeah, they got that wrong in Half-Life and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. too). You know, because it would mark the wearer as a priority target. 21:01 Peter Weller described his motions for Robocop as "staccato." 21:20 How is the organic hand sustained, though? In the original, one of the technicians says that they "were able to save the left arm." 21:47 Did you ever see Space Truckers? It actually addresses that issue. XD
Just watching this video makes me want to see the original, which is VERY good news for movies:) I LOVE THE THEME MUSIC!!! You putting the theme over the remake's training scene just like you put the 'finding the golden ticket' music over Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's golden ticket scene beats Nostalgia Critic in declaring "THERE! I FIXED THE MOVIE!"
The song played in the training sequence is called Hocus Pocus by Focus and it honestly is a really fun song but is used so inappropriately I agree they should have used the Robocop theme
I actually remember that Robocop cartoon, lol. I still even remember the look on my mums face when her partner was like "Ehh, where'd the VHS of Robocop go?" when I was in the room (My mum had hit it because I was what, 4? 5? At most barely 6. x3) because of course then I was bloody curious. Ehh, I saw it by 8 and I was fiiiiine. Granted I probably should've avoided sneaksing onto cable and seeing "The Wall" around the same time assuming that a movie based on a rock album could be worse than the R Rated action movie they had caved in and let me see. Good lord that movie kinda fucked with me. Sorry, minor tangent. Guess it was because I can't think of anything to say that you didn't touch on well and I'm just chatty and self indulgent. :V Great review as usual! I haven't seen the remake and I... probably won't. Doesn't look like it's necessarily the WORST one, but honestly I sometimes hate a boring remake even more than a spectacularly idiotic or outright insulting one.
@HicksZ34 WHAT A DICK MOVE. YOU'RE PARENTS WERE COOL AND LET YOU WATCH IT AND YOU TURNED OUT FINE. (I'M ASSUMING) SO WHY DEPRIVE YOU'RE DAUGHTER OF WATCHING A MOVIE?
The original Louis was such a great character because honestly in my opinion she's one of those female characters ever written she's not a damsel in distress but she's also not fucking Wonder Woman. Does she need to get saved every now and then? Yes but she also saves the main character when he's in trouble. To all the screenwriters who were writing these Mary Sue characters nowadays take notes from RoboCop.
You said it all perfectly here they should also take notes from alien aliens and terminator 2 on how to do a strong female character.

About the cyborgish feel. It was the original idea, that Robocop could be fast and strong. But it wasn't realisible back then.
Do you mean feasable?
The robocop theme with Andy laying around was boss

Will we be getting it chapter 1 and 2 with the reboot of the TV series or the pet Sematary version
Andy where can I find the lyrics to your theme tune?
BOOT TO REBOOTS: DREDD!!!
Please do Total Recall and Red Dawn. I actually kind of like both of the remakes 😌
amstel 54 lmao how sad. Total recall remake was a complete abomination
I spotted the wolf man remake on your list in the intro
0:51 wtf a robo cop rated pg13 a disgrace
Super late on this but I wanna say the song used in the training sequence in the reboot is the same song used in the foot chase scene in Baby Driver and was used waaaay better in Baby Driver.
Best opening scene of any of these episodes!🤣
The original was made in Dallas, Tx.
I feel Regional RoboCop veteran it was a pretty good story anyway you inspire me to create 2 new characters which is pretty cool
Was “87 times” a reference to the year RoboCop came out ?
Andy can you make boots to reboots & maniacal cinephile different series
I like the theory someone proposed that the script was originally for some man-and-machine sci-fi movie that the studio decided to retool it and slap the RoboCop name on it to get more people into the theater.
That training music is Hocus Pocus by Focus, and it's a badass song. I've never seen the Robocop reboot, but it does seem an odd choice.
hi Andy I just started watching your show and this is sooooooooo coooooooooooool☺
16:45 is probably the funniest voice over to ever exist
Hopefully the studio stays the hell out of Neill Blomkamp's way and Robocop Returns will be the movie we wanted to begin with. I say that as someone who didn't dislike this reboot, it was just disappointing because of what it could have been.
Funny... I bought this movie for $4 on Blu Ray at Fry's Electronics... it's sitting on my shelf next to my 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition RoboCop knowing that it will never be picked up again as long as the original is still there.
0:58. You think PG-13 is bad. It was PG when it come out in Canada. Also I saw it for rent on RUclips and it was........G.
I like this guy! His intro song is awesome!
is it bad that i like the prime directives it's not amazing but it's atleast interesting
21:01 Peter Weller described his motions for Robocop as "staccato."
21:20 How is the organic hand sustained, though? In the original, one of the technicians says that they "were able to save the left arm."
21:47 Did you ever see Space Truckers? It actually addresses that issue. XD
I had the same reaction about the "characters.". Even immediate after viewing I could not remember any of the characters.
Great theme song, Mike Nowak!
My reaction was the same when they said *PG-13*
Look it's my buddy *ROBERT-COP*
17:58 Now we present The Intoxicating Adventures of DrunkMan!
18:37 Jason makes an appearance
