Smoked like a chimney, drank like a lunatic, but was still one of the fittest men in the forces. Just a different breed of man. The word Warrior gets used far to much, but for this man, their is genuinely not another word in our language to describe him. Just made of iron. RIP John Mac

My Sensi said his Master used to teach the SAS our martial art, to be honest I didn’t read much into it as a lot of people say they taught the SAS. But now after all these years how lucky I was to learn Goshinkwai by the Warfield brothers really was taught to the SAS. Hereford was not that far from where we lived. The Warfield brothers from south Wales were taught by a Grand Japanese master Sensi Abbe, the brothers took his technique and developed their own called Goskinkwai. In reality the SAS were learning Japanese military martial arts as although Sensi Abbe was a master of Judo and Akido it was his military martial arts he learned as an officer in the Japanese army in WWII that the Warfield brothers took up and adapted as their own. It is a truly brutal and efficient martial art that strips everything way to leave simple techniques to maim and kill. I remember my Sensi telling me when you fight someone they are having an argument with you and the only way left to change their mind is with devastating pain! It was not a martial art for kids!!!

Yes, he was a great man, and when I heard about what happened, I told my mother and we had a good prayer. It is interesting; the reason I began to study the history of the development of unarmed combat skills as they were developed in the UK Army was that I learned about a physical training instructor who began his career in World War One but was a serial fraudster and compulsive liar. It was connected with patent history research in order to find out who made one of the World War Two specialist close combat weapons. Then, I began to ask myself, “If that was an example of an early modern martial artist who was a liar, then by contrast, I wonder who was not a liar?” Then I began to study Fairbairn, Applegate, and others like them such as this man here.

@HowToMarket You act like it's the general public's fault. Stop being bitter. Most American's don't even want to be in Afghanistan, neither do the Soldiers, and Marines. Everyone is tired, multiple deployments, sand, sand, and more sand. It's our politicians who keep sending us there, the military just does their job, you should know this better than anyone if you were in the Paras. You don't have a choice where you go, we all just follow orders. Your hate is misplaced, hate our government.

@vixenbunny11 We Americans, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, etc. are a continuation of British culture....no one of us is better than the other. We speak the same language and, for the most part, share the same culture and cultural ideals. There are true heroes on both sides of the pond. You are neither better nor worse than us...What you say is true though about taking pride in these two brave country-men of yours....R.I.P.
