Yeah, me too 🤣, It was a great trip though and functional test of my gear for the upcoming Myakka river trip. I think I could have edited the video down by a few more minutes, but folks can fast-forward I guess :)
Nice video! Just some info for you. It actually floods worse than this every 10 years or so. Since the 1930 flood you referenced it has flooded very badly in 1960 again in 1997 and again in 2017. You went right behind our property. The dog you hear barking is my neighbors dog Harley.
Ah, thank you for that added info. I was just going off the flood report I received, but it's good to know that I won't have to wait 100 years to do a similar trip :). You live in a beautiful spot and I look forward to paddling past you again someday :)
Nicely done… we kayak there often… the ramp that you said you missed is the Lacoochee ramp at the end of Coit Road… the ramp has been closed because of the trash. The placed where you camped also has tons of trash (as you saw)… that road is also closed. I have several videos from that area including one where some ladies had trailered their horses to where you camped and had the horses playing in the river… (on the beach that was underwater when you were there). When the water is lower there are several portages around there. Enjoyed the video (and others that you posted). Keep them coming.
I think this was my favorite video of yours. Such awesome views of wild Florida. I've been on an air boat tour on the Withlacoochee River. Enjoyed some of your new editing views. Great video!
Thank you so much! I might be stealing some of your editing styles, but this video was a blast to make. Experiencing the river this flooded was a real treat :)
Good stuff! We live very close to where you kayak/camped and appreciate your video. We’ve kayaked the river closer the Silver Lake area, but not where you did this trip. You’ve got some great content … Thank You!
thank you for the complement, I've been lucky enough to have the free time to get out and explore our area. there is so many sections of rivers around here that I'll never be able to see them all. glad you are enjoying the videos
One of the translations from local Native American peoples for "withlacoochee" is "crooked river"... another is "little big water" ... Either would describe it at different times. I think "little big water" fits best as, at times, it is a little river, and at other times it is an inland sea... At high water, a person in a canoe could be lost for many days, paddling through the woods and the lakes that the river floods into, before finally finding the actual river channel again. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us!
That's an awesome comment! Not only is it informative, but it also paints a true picture of the wildness of the river. Thank you so much, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video
I wasn’t yelling at the tv saying “don’t waste your drone batteries, it might be the only way way to find your way back!” Definitely I wasn’t thinking that 😭
I agree with other comments, this is one of your best video's yet. Why do you need a permit to go down the Myakka or is that for camping? Looking forward to that one for sure!
Thank you so much! It was also one of my favorite trips so far. The withlacoochee is such a wild river to explore and never disappoints. On some sections of the Myakka they only allow 30 people a day to pass through to keep it pristine. I'm pretty sure the section I want to do passes through that section. I still need to do some more research on it, but shouldn't be a problem this time of year and with the flooding
@@sailingslowmotionyes to continue from the upper lake to the lower myakka lake you need to let the rangers know, generally they ask hikers to come back to the ranger station and confirm they made it out safe. But if you plan to continue down the river you need to inform the park rangers that you wouldn’t be checking out and will be outside of the state park by nightfall and not camping on state park territory. Obviously it’s for liability, but for your own safety too. I’m just glad Casey wears a life vest so “his torso can be recovered” ☠️😭😅
Thanks for that info. I'll reach out to you soon to make arraignments for Myakka but as of today, the road into the park is still flooded. looks like it will be going down soon though, so hopefully later in the week will work out for the trip. # glad you liked the life vest comment, it WAS a real thought :)
Wow, that is flooded. I'm glad you could find your way out of the woods.

@@sailingslowmotion even at regular level this area is a wonderful paddle!
Paddling along the hiking trails - taking shortcuts through the forest to try finding the actual river- this was a really unique and fun video!
Thank you, and as always it was nice to have coffee with you and watch it together

lol! I actually thought the same thing!! :)
nice video man you’re really awesome
I appreciate that. I'm having fun making these videos and have quite a bit more to make before I'm done. Stick around :)

Is that the southern withlacochee? I've been to the northern one on the Georgia border
Yes, It's down south a bit from the Georgia border, about due West from Orlando
There are two Withlacochee in Florida
