The true test will be in the aftermarket. Did they build these engines full tilt from the factory like many others or can they be tripled in power like a 2JZ lsx or b58
Well the "Cat X" crate engine has already been announced and said to be used in the next gen Drag Pak, which means it'll have to make 1500+HP to be competitive. But they also already said that that engine will have a "race block & head". The head for sure is absolutely going to be needed for real big power, these modern head designs that have a turbo 'manifold' cast into the head(@6:08) are very restrictive when you start cranking up the power, so I'm fully expecting that the 'race head' will have standard exhaust ports for a header. The block though, that'll be the real question of course - how much will it hold? If it's going to take a Mopar race block to hold 4-digit power reliably, that's going to significantly increase the cost of building one of these for that level of racing.
I had a 3.5 ecoboost. The air to air intercooler would build up water and oil in the bottom of the intercooler. On a rainy day I was pulling on to the highway and it sucked all that into the motor. It caused the truck to buck really hard. I pulled into a dealer and they put a piece of plastic on the intercooler and reflashed the ecu. I sold the truck immediately after. Theres no way that under full load those rods didnt get weakened by that event.
Raptors with the 3.5L Ecoboost have cooling fans on the intercooler so that slow speed offroading is not really an issue. The intercooler is the same as the regular F150. That said, the Ecoboost intercoolers have generally left a lot to be desired. My 2014 Ecoboost could hit 190F intake temps on hot days towing with the stock intercooler. With a CVF intercooler, I never saw over 120F even on 100F days.
I said this many years ago. A straight 6 can actually handle the power as long as it’s built right. Ford messed up in 90’s when they dumped the 4.9 straight 6. They could have updated it and modded it for major performance.
@@mikeg3184 he said the most powerful naturally aspirated production v8 in history. I just named two in trucks that were more powerful. I’m sure there are may other V8’s that make way more. So his statement was just false all around
Brian does a great job with his channel and production. JB4 tuning is nothing new. They use a universal tuning technique that works across several vehicle platforms. I’m very excited to see how this engine does with tuning. I think we will see something launched from Mopar and others early 2025 that is RHO specific. From what I understand this engine can take some boost!
This motor is endless when it comes to the tuning aspects. my Mercedes S 65, 2015 has an air to water in cooler you could if you want run that system off your air conditioning. I hope they used forged pistons and connecting rods on the high output.
Air to water isn't that great. Can't drop IAT's past the coolant temp. The cast manifold in the heads is fine but if you've seen cast parts I'm sure you can imagine what the porting looks like... 26PSI on a 3.0 I6 making 550 at the crank is cool but not impressive, throw half the boost at a v8 and it won't even be close. Overall, I'm glad to see the I6 making a comeback and not another V6 but not at the expense of losing the V8. ~ this is just my shit take, take it or leave it 🤷
Great info! Thank you for shairing. If they do the same style of water to air that was on TRx guys were getting intake temps at near freezing temps. I hope that is the case for the RHO. Good point on the porting. Since it’s on the head I’m not sure how you port it.
I believe the air/water set up for the interocoler is indepdenant of the engine cooling system, you will absolutely see IATs below engine coolant temp.
You cannot just make 1000 hp out of a 3.0L without an absolutely insane amount of boost, and therefore, and insane amount of octane. While it may be possible they designed the engine to handle that power, getting there is a different story. You'll need E85 and a mammoth compressor capable of 50+ psi and 100+ lbs/min of airflow. That's not going to spool well.
Ram ain't going anywhere. The government caused most of the problems. Like they always have for decades. They have to pay up like they have before. Otherwise there would be an entire industry collapse.
80 percent of the people today don't know how to open a hood, let alone how to pull a dipstick! Many of the knotheads screaming "no dipstick" haven't opened the hood either. Some pay no attention to a check engine light either! Go buy a Ford or Chevy and get your tiny 2.7 or similar small engine and get a 2 new engine for free!
Be a great motor NOT in a full size truck. Stick it in a small nimble car. The exit of the 392 era sucks. Those stupid dodge hornet commercials make me wanna puke. I guess we can all be happy we lived through muscle car era 2.0
The high output hurricane is better than the hemi in every metric (more hp, more fuel efficient, more mod capabilities, lighter in weight and cheaper). Outside of your feelings there is no reason that makes sense to use the 392. The only advantage the hemi has is exhaust note
Can't wait to see how these RHO trucks perform
Me too!
Great video! Can't wait to see what future updates you have coming!
Thanks so much!
Absolutely nuts that we can have 1000hp inline 6s from the factory soon
I sure hope so!
I'd like to see that in the RHO.
Absolutely nuts people would buy them

Piggyback brings the SO up to about 600 whp... Just wait for all the goodies to start coming out, could have a TRX killer for an additional 5k
oh dang I cant wait! HO with a tune going to rip!
The new Trx could be a 800-1000 hp inline six, interesting
Exactly!
I've been sharing all of your videos on the RHO forum. Keep them coming!

6 in a row ready to tow, 8 in a V.......
Thats why i have a full race intercooler on my truck.
Awesome! Huge difference?
@CTECH-REVIEW keeps IAT2 within 10degrees of ambient under boost.
That moment you realize the SO is more powerful than the most powerful naturally asperated production V8 in history.
Yes!
In a half ton? I can name a few production NA truck V8's with more power, including the 6.4L Hemi and 7.3L Godzilla.
@Jay-me7gw those aren't comparable.......

What do you think about IGM AUTO tuning their 2025 Ram RHO, could there be more tuners coming out for the RHO and the Cat X hurricane engine?

They should have increased size to 4 liters for the larger platforms. Offering 3-4 liters similar to ecoboost
I wonder if they will in the future!
Excellent video. Can you cover the thermostats? Many are having issues.
Great comment. I will dive into this.

Be nice to swap one into my JK Wrangler!. Just hoping they aren't that long
Stay tuned on that topic!
How do you think this will compare to the RHO? I'm on the line on 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel vs RHO. Leaning towards RHO. Thanks
Its hard to say, I have a video coming next week though that you might like comparing both engines!
Thank God, I own a TRX

I love those trx trucks what's do u get in mpg
You what's instresting is that it does not have a engine oil dipstick!
True!
What’s the difference between the RHO hurricane engine and the regular hurricane 1500 engine ??
Great question. I talked about this in another RHO video but basically bigger turbos and better pistons. Other things too but that’s some major stuff

It has a separate low temperature coolant loop. So it keeps intake temps not only low but very consistent
