The idea behind Hatzalah is genuine and I generally like it. However, from what I have seen from Hatzalah in my community, some members drive way to fast and reckless while responding to calls. I am a career firefighter/paramedic and safe vehicle operation is as big a part of my job as patient care. When responding to calls we must consider the safety of everyone involved. This includes those we pass on the roads!

Hey I have a real question, do you have to be Jewish to volunteer if your an EMT or Paramedic? Im serious or just as long as you follow their rules and regulations?
    Thanks

@Lax11Man what gave you that idea, it's not true, they save many people. As you probably realize women are attractive and in the Jewish tradition we don't highlight them as they gather enough attention without it... some women who are respected as the high priest in Judaism are kept with a low profile. thanks for your concern

You obviously have no clue in what your talking about. Hatzalh will help you weather your Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Christian, Atheist, or otherwise. Not to mention they were there on 9/11 helping people at the World Trade Center.
These cars are response units. That makes them able to have sirens and red lightbars. They are part of the emergency response network.
    GET A CLUE!!!!

Well @northeastbasball i have been a firefighter for two years but i know all the laws and regulations. The laws states the any personal response vehicle that is not a higher power i.e.fire cheif fire asst cheif are allowed red lights. Ems on the other hand is allowed green and blue and thats it i live in sullivan county ny were they came up for the summer and i see illegel red lights all over the place and they get away with it. It makes me mad that some ambulance corps not paid by the gov can

So when you are only responding to calls from people in your community you are not getting the experience and the care you give is not as good as someone who has done twice as many calls. In my opinion it much easier to call 9-1-1.

I just see it to be a dangerous waste of time. EMT's and Paramedics's have the same amount of schooling and required training. Another problem law enforcement has been running into is Hatzalah members using there personal vehicles with red lights and sirens is just a huge liability because not only are they going to be driving recklessly but they are risking there lives as well others while responding to a call. In my personal as an EMT the more calls you take the the better your patient care is
