  • Everyone loves to see Phil Hellmuth tilted and go on a crazy rant, right? Look no further, as this hand from No Gamble No Future has all the ingredients to send Hellmuth into a frenzy! All that's needed on the river is for Hellmuth to pay off a big bet. But can the 17-time WSOP bracelet winner find a way to fold?
When raising your opponents on the flop, you should try to avoid min-raising because you will give your opponent incredible odds to continue with their entire range and risk being outdrawn.
Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’ has over $29,000,000 in live tournament earnings putting him in the top 25 on the all time money list. He also has 17 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets which is currently the most that any poker player has won! Hellmuth is well known for his antics and outbursts at the poker table.
Justin Young is an American professional poker player and has over $6,400,000 in live tournament earnings. His largest cash of $936,760 came in the $10,000 2008 Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic where he came 2nd. He runs the very popular poker podcast called ‘Table 1’ where they talk about poker, gambling, and all manner of life experiences as a professional poker player on and off the felt. Some of the guests on the show have been Jonathan Little, Matt Valeo, Ron Coury, Shannon Shorr, Jesse Sylvia, Len Ashby, and Chino Rheem.
No Gamble, No Future is an American poker television program that airs on PokerGO, premiering on August 1, 2022. The poker show provides cash game-focused entertainment with a variety of stakes and poker players. It has featured players such as Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’, Andrew Robl ‘good2cu’, Eric Persson, Patrick Antonius ‘The Finn’, Matt Berkey, Nik Airball and Daniel Negreanu ‘DNegs’ “KidPoker’.
    🔍 Pre-Flop Action:
Justin Young opens the action from the button by raising to $400 with Q4o. Phil Hellmuth defends from the big blind with J9 of diamonds which encourages Lynne Ji to call from the straddle with K7o as they head to the flop three-way.
    💸 Flop - Jc 4d 2s:
Hellmuth takes the lead in the hand by flopping top pair and a backdoor flush draw. He decides to check to the aggressor and Li follows suit. Young takes the bait and fires a continuation bet of $700 with his middle pair. Hellmuth then springs into action with an interesting min-raise to $1,400 with his pair of jacks. Li folds, and Young, with second pair, decides to call to see a turn heads-up with The Poker Brat.
    💣 Turn - 4h:
The turn brings the 4 of hearts, a disastrous card for Hellmuth as Young has now made trips. This isn’t a card that he should be scared of very often and he continues to be the aggressor in the hand by firing out $1,700 with his top pair of jacks. Young, maintaining a stoic poker face, decides to pull out his own min-raise as he clicks it back to $3,400. Hellmuth snap-calls as they both head to the river.
    🌊 River - 5c:
The river brings the 5 of clubs, completing some unlikely straights. Hellmuth checks. Young, still holding trip fours with a queen kicker, fires out a near pot-sized bet of $8,000. Hellmuth, visibly agonizing over his decision, removes his jacket, talks to himself, and ponders whether to call or fold. What will he do, and will we bear witness to another Phil Hellmuth tirade? Watch the poker video to find out!
Jonathan Little analyzes live poker hands from TV poker shows such as Poker After Dark, Hustler Casino Live, The Lodge Poker Club & PokerGO. He also analyzes popular poker vloggers such as Rampage Poker, Brad Owen, Jaman Burton, Ashley Sleeth, Wolfgang Poker and others!

Unfortunately some of the best WSOP Hellmuth blow ups were never captured on film. In 2009 in one event I got knocked out by a two outer in a huge event in 110th that started with over 3000. So I take it begrudgingly and am packing up and two tables over Phil is all in against the chip leader with 99 against AK suited. Hellmuth at the most has 15BB. The dude knocks him out and Phil goes ballistic at this guy who is playing perfectly. So instead of cashing out I am watching. Finally the guy has enough and tells him to get the F out of there and go call his wife. Now Phil is really screaming and has to be escorted out. Well as he passes by me I tell him to tell his wife I said hello. If looks could kill.

I saw Phil Hellmuth at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

He was annoyed he had to fold his 7-7 in a 3-way pot and loudly declared he thought he was bluffing, clearly hoping to get the big stack to call him. His plan worked and the big stack sucked out to knock the guy out. No penalty, not nothing as a result.

From what i've seen of watcher tons of pro poker over the years is some pros really struggle to bet big post flop with hands. Sometimes it's ok to put someone to a decision early and insure your win. If you let people see to many cheap cards and let to many people limp into pots this kinda shit happens all day. I once played in a tournament and the best cards I was dealt all game was J9 offsuit, I was eliminated in the upper middle of the tourney but had to survive by capitalizing on pots exactly how Young did. If people are green lighting limps take advantage of those misplays more.

Doesn't it make sense that, when you have something like 70% equity on a pot and someone bets small, to min raise, because of their implied odds as well? Since you're likely to win the pot, you're increasing your win total in hands like this. It almost turns into an exploit where you know your opponent most likely has middle pair, so you know they will almost always call a min raise. It also triggers some micro aggression plays from your opponent, such as overbetting when they get there, which helps with transparency of the hand as well. And, I would usually follow up with a check on the turn, which is usually checked back. Then a large bet on the river, which almost always ends up getting called because it makes it look like I'm bluffing to my opponent. Of course, the turn and river cards matter immensely, however it really does help nail your opponent's range. And Although I haven't run it through a solver, I'd imagine it would be a small net gain or neutral play regardless.

    • @Lamentor219
      @Lamentor219 2 месяца назад

And watching Hellmuth bet the turn, in my opinion is where the mistake comes in. The play in that scenario should be check fold on the turn when the board pairs. I could be wrong, but I've played scenarios like this and it seems to keep me in in the right direction bb wise.

Another big problem with Phil. He likes to play the trap game too much, you hear him say it: "I had you all setup". The hand was literally going exactly how he wanted it to go. If that second four doesn't come he would have been pleased as punch that the hand was played that way.
Here is what Phil just for some reason forgets to consider. The hand would almost have never been played that way unless the user hits. When he actually does consider it "You just have to have me" he then does something stupid again and pays him off. Also, when you play the trap game you are risking the opponent catching something. Its just a fact of life. The first thing I learned in poker is that you have to protect your hand. Unless you have the absolute nuts its just not worth dangling bait.

The irony of hellmuth putting on these performances is that he greatly benefits from people playing badly against him to try to suck out and say they beat him. I was there pre moneymaker and at that time hellmuths wife's income was supporting him. I get the main event score, but hellmuth was a losing player in the years pre boom. So now suckers give him money and he knows it.

Only the players that are that good overreact in such a ridiculous way and complain that the game of poker is unfair when it’s inherently obviously unfair?

This is what players don't understand I give you incredible odds to call my raise you do and hit your card and all keep calling your bets.
Phil I think alot of cash players understand that

My favourite PH moments are where he socks up,like we just watched, over variation in poker, the guy lives an insanely fortunate life lots of $,best tournaments around the world, special treatment, gets to play poker for a living and yet despite his enviable position, acts like a 12 yr old losing at marbles, constantly and the moment he loses its always someone or something fault never his own poor decisions,,,,Drop the attitude Phil,we know there is a decent human trying to get out from under your EGO.If I had your opportunities, I would be way more thankful n humble, rather than expecting jack rag no second pair/str8/trips or flush to win,,arrogant ego call, take a look at the big picture phil

Problem with him comes when he states nobody can understand ("his genius" or "expert genius") that is narcissistic when it's poker. He equates his thinking to something highly complex like physics. It is poker, yes, explain and people understand. Him setting up people isn't complex at all contrary to his narcissistic thoughts.

Hellmuth berates the players that make the game, the "live ones", with personal attacks. That is definitely not good for poker in general. I don't care how many tournaments he wins. He can bemoan his bad luck, but not at the expense of the players.

If you rant at me and call me an fing idiot, then you need to check yourself or be checked by management. The problem with his logic is that the rest of the hand wouldn't have played out that way if the 4 doesn't come. Daniel is right about him not being the best non tournament poker player.

Min raise was a mistake. BUT being lucky doesn't make u a "great player" . Sure Helmut could easily fold on river as he has top pair with a bad kicker and there are a lot of hands that can beat u like AJ to say the least.

it is all ego. modern poker they call with anything from any spot with any stack. 22 will win against AK or even AA.your opponent ready to bet whatever you bet nothing can be done. Even if stakes are 150k buy-inn( triton poker). Even phil ivy lost to a flush when he had a straight and it cost him 3 million dollars as he was leading the tournament. same happened to chidwick, when he was leading!! The flush got beaten by full-house( for me in 10 cent tournament where i was leading just now!!).
Even if phil raised very high the BB guy would have called!! he got lucky with q4. it happens. And when you calll it wont happen!!!
    ----------------
phil did not have a nit either as there was more to come like he found out.
    -------------------
it is just one hand and move on. it is not like he is playing 10k world poker tour which comes once a year!!!
    -------------------
these cash games are dime a dozen!!!
