Close the internal door to the front room? I used to know someone who rented a front room and had use of the bathroom and kitchen and had a lock on their door. Easy.. The front room is a room on it's own not open plan.
What a lovely couple. I hope they were able to sell. It seems developers need to have that "can do" attitude just to take the inherent risks, but that quality sometimes slides over into recklessness.
Not until time 14:08 do you get to see how steep the stairs actually are... yikes!!! And the steps change to really narrow triangles as it curves to the right to the second floor (where the only bathroom is). Moving furniture up their will be a real adventure.
An even better view is at 5:25 . The vertical rise of each step is quite a bit more then the depth of the tread. Basically climbing the stairs on your toes.
These people. Truly shocking that they even tried it. Basic math and even a drop of logic should have been enough to shake them out of their ridiculous fantasy land.
@Denise Bennett I did this with my first house, but I had a wall put in to create a corridor through to the lounge, creating effectively four bedrooms. I lived in the house and let rooms for ten years, then prefered to live alone till I sold it to a property developer. It's now a seven bedroom student house.
I think they were a good couple just not suited to property development. He was thinking ahead trying to come up with a career after football, which was a smart idea a lot of sports people are not smart enough to realize they won't be able to play sports forever. She was the one managing the money and it was clear from everyone they talked to that their budget was to small. So I hate to defend a football player but he might be the one that would be the would the one better off losing her. She is a low paid civil servant after all and she was the budget manager who had unrealistically low ideas about how much things cost. Although I do not think either one of them are losers they were just both underestimated how much money and time it takes to develop a property.
@@philipbloomquist1580 he’s a semi professional footballer . They make peanuts for the short career it is . Semi pro basically means it’s a part time job and he’s supposed to do something else as well like most semi pros do . He’s probably been living off her for a long time .
@@samoday2992 from this episode I didn't think he made lots of money being a footballer I also from this episode thought she was not making money because she was a civil servant so they're both not making money that's why they had a $15,000 budget. I will still stand that she was the one that made that budget that was completely unrealistic and convinced him that they could do the project on that small of a budget. I still think he would be better off if things go south then she would be as she doesn't seem to have a firm grasp about how expensive things are.
@@philipbloomquist1580 well she’s a typical government worker that’s never lived in the real world . I can guarantee that she probably makes double of what he does .
I wonder how much the ex-semi-professional footballer contributed to this project. He doesn't appear to be overly bright, and she's old enough to have more sense.
What about zoning? Could you really put a residential property in the middle of a run-down commercial area? Also, what about renting it out, if it isn't selling? Couldn't they find graduate students who would like to live there? The final result is beautiful. Do the show's producers help out with the final reveal? Either that, or the first-time clueless developers all have way better decorating taste than most people. Always interesting. Addictive.
The level of cluelessness is scary, but let's go ahead, "because that's the kind of people we are." Who is going to want to go up and down those stairs that aren't even wide enough for a human foot? Forget about having kids there.
At least Mark was smart enough to purchase his car outright instead of purchasing it via hire purchase. This allowed him sell his car because he owns it rather than being like most of the U.K who usually opt for for HP where they only possess not own the car. So they look like they own a great car when they own nothing.
Tracey’s my mum she is not greedy or stupid I’m 13 and proud of the fact she is now very successful and has made a life for her self when u clearly don’t have one
They sold it for £115,000 in 2005.
"3 months on, and they have no offers". So, any profit they *might* have made, goes up in smoke in mortgage payments.
I don't understand how you can turn the front room in to a bedroom. Everyone is walking past your bed when entering the house!

@puffy puff Hello, what century is it NOW?
Five people and one bathroom. Nightmare!!
And the bath and the toilet are not even seperated, not ideal for a students home.
They sold it for 115000,,,!
Humans and egos are always a factor....
“Listen to the experts”...which no one on this show ever does.
Maybe it’s to prove a point

Thank you for uploading these!!

Too right. LOL

If they change the front room to a bedroom, does that mean everyone is walking through your bedroom to access other parts of the house??

those steep stairs are suicide stairs.
Just glad they didn't lose their shirts, like some.
So he made no money playing football and has no career. I would sell up the shop and get rid of the man!
He doesn’t seem the brightest of chaps to be fair .

Pretty hopeless property with those steep stairs, no welcoming hallway...

Out of all the properties they could have picked....smh
Mark could finance the whole reno with an Onlyfans page. And still have lots of money left over.
They ignore expert advice. So dumb.
