How she manages to keep smiling amazes me, these ignorant people and their 'know it all' attitude must be so annoying. Why ask for her advice and then ignore it? Stupid people with too much money. I would kill for Sarah's help. SMDH! They talk about how much time pain and effort they put into the job but they were never on site, the person who put the time stress and effort into the job was Tony the builder who was there day in day out with no imput from the owners. $13,000 profit is not enough, get real, they went to their own work every day and left Tony to sort it out and then in a bad market complain that $13,000 profit is not enough. In a market like that, any profit is fantastic. Stick to your day jobs!
Both stunning homes. But I have to agree with the couple in Bethnal Green; I also would prefer the kitchen upstairs and the lounge downstairs. I think their remodel was spot on. Oh, and I love Sarah and wish her a speedy recovery and good health!
That woman who bought the cottage with her husband is a bank manager! You would think being a bank manager, she would be more risk adverse, thus getting a structural survey before handing over any cash.
Makes you lose all confidence in banks that's for sure, as a bank manager you would expect her to be totally on top of every penny....not the case. What an idiot. But at least the kitchen in the basement looks great....thanks to Sarah. Shame the bathroom is a total fail #ItsaNOfromMe
Agreed. They watch a few home make-over programs and all of a sudden they're a 'stylist'.......hilarious. Just goes to show, common sense is not so common after all.
The store people didn't believe Sarah, who only has so many years of experience, so have to ask a bunch of other people to find out she's right. Three bedrooms are more valuable than two - who knew? I'm always expecting some skeletons to be unearthed as they dig into these ancient basements. Tony the builder is the only one with any sense.
She loves interior design but has no broad base of knowledge. Its the love of the british bath again. Abandon them. Small bathroom? Get a shower....one that you can stand under.
I agree. My gripe was going to be that it's at the front of the house. As someone saddled with a kitchen at the front, I can say that it's horrible to be "on stage" to passers by everytime I chop an onion. However, the young couple have positioned the prepping/cooking area right at the back of the room so it's not too bad at all.
I don't actually like the living downstairs but I feel it's more natural to enter the house into the kitchen, rather than the living. (It's what you're used to I guess).
As a buyer OR a renter, I would always be worried about a basement conversion, especially in a climate which gets so much rain and snow, and subject to flooding.
550£ per week (now at 2021 from, 2007?) is just shy of 1,000$ CAN per week. 3,500$ per month - I’m rolling in my pre-paid grave!! Alright, the inflation generator says: £550 in 2007 is worth £768.14 today equals 768G£ = 1,333.25$ CAD... that’s 5,333$ per month. Nah, I’ll buy that 1980’s goal of a Lamborghini Countach instead.
It's not really fair for Sarah to take the cottage-owners to task over a Victorian tub, since that's about the era the house would originally have got one.
It was too big for the small bathroom and standing in it, she hit her head on the shower rose, Tony the builder said it weighed too much for the floor and it was too big and bulky for the room, it wasn't JUST that it was Victorian era, it was just plain wrong for that bathroom. I thought the bathroom looked dreadful and didn't work for practical reasons, Sarah was 100% right.
That doesn't sound like a whole lot in London does it? But it VERY MUCH depends on the kind of renters you get. To be a landlord can be utterly awful .
They call Sarah in for advise to maximise the profits. Then they don’t listen to her. What’s the bloody point.
I would kill for Sarah’s advice, they get it for free and completely ignore her, because they know best. 🙄😒

I live for Sarah’s shade!!
ppl r really weird-she's been doing it for decades and yet they still thnk they r smarter than her...than why ask her ?
The couples in this ep listen to Sarah more than I’ve seen before!!
Sarah knows her stuff!
That woman who bought the cottage with her husband is a bank manager! You would think being a bank manager, she would be more risk adverse, thus getting a structural survey before handing over any cash.
You would think!!! (But the world is up-side-down!)
If they were not as stubbourn as they were, chances are they would have spent less and probably make a larger profit
EXACTLY ! I rewind to hear again if I heard correctly. Bankmanager.... you should know of how to spend money wisely.
There should be a building code that prohibits ridiculous/unusable showers.
I literally get waves of nausea when I hear ..”WOW FACTOR “ 🤢
ME too! Some people watch too much HGTV!😄
Agreed. They watch a few home make-over programs and all of a sudden they're a 'stylist'.......hilarious. Just goes to show, common sense is not so common after all.

Most cringeworthy comment “my passion is interior design”...
Why was that so cring to you? Lol
@@jewel9097 Because the interior design was a mess.
Interior design passion that includes that very badly done bathroom with a shower no one of normal height can use without getting on their knees.
@@BelleVanSchijndel Thats right. Liking and doing are two different things.
I would have done what Sarah suggested. Can’t believe they didn’t listen. X
IKR? Sarah is brilliant, she has great ideas, shame these idiots don't listen.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for these!!! I'm in Australia and can't see them via C4!!
Dean Ellison me too!
that bathtub is just ridiculous. hardly practical given the low ceiling height
JUST PUT THE BOILER OVER THE DOWNSTAIRS LOO!!!!!! I LOVE YOU SARAH
"we've been next door and it's in very good condition". LMAO, only takes one owner living like a pig to structurally ruin a house.
The neighbor knew their house price would increase if the neighbor home gets a rehab.
She loves interior design but has no broad base of knowledge. Its the love of the british bath again. Abandon them. Small bathroom? Get a shower....one that you can stand under.
Why bother with a survey? Who would expect to find problems in a house that was built when Shakespeare was alive?
Pahhhh hahahahahaha!
I like the kitchen upstairs actually.
I agree. My gripe was going to be that it's at the front of the house. "There was no indication the market was going to crash"
Good grief man, were you living in headinthesand land? The signs were EVERYWHERE!
Especially if you were a banker - which the guy's wife is!!
Look like the interior design lady fell and seriously injured her fringe
I would've turned the flat and basement into two separate flats and doubled the rental return.
Her 'passion' is interior design and she chose that bathroom. Lol.
As a buyer OR a renter, I would always be worried about a basement conversion, especially in a climate which gets so much rain and snow, and subject to flooding.
HOW MANY TIMES DID THE FEMALE BANKER SAY ''WOW FACTOR''? 8 OR 9?

In the store, it looks like you walk in the door and one false step and you're falling down the stairs.
3 bedroom that nice in Bethnal GReen is at least 2,500 pound if not 3,000 per month now
you must watch builder... regardless
To need to learn clear, accurate plans and being on-site are good things is itself concerning
Take the £100,000....
You gotta laugh they bring in Sarah, who knows what she is doing, for advice. Then choose to ignore her advice and moan ????
Shady boots!
Looks like 90 % "property development's" doing it wrong. You doing business not house for our self. His is big mistake and keep it separate.
why's the builder worried about the bath weighing 250kg? That's nothing, any decent building should cope with that on every square metre.

500 per week?!
There mates down the pub probably told them they could achieve £500 a week lol 😆
