I'm salivating!! That's nice
Haha! Nice! Well... start BUILDING something then!
Good overview of a very interesting airplane.
Another great video Brian!
Bryan you’ve done it again! Late to the game but Greg has built a beautiful Panther. His detail build and excellent paint job shows that he’s put some time into his final design. I don’t know where you obtain these builds but you interview some great builders showing their achievements. Like your new intro too!! Have a great year Bryan and we’ll be watching. Cheers!
@John Paul Lafferty Thank You again and again. I appreciate your support here!
I loved the re-work comment. I've often thought that if I could have all my thinking time back and re-work time back, I could have built two more aircraft!
Great video. I like how you interview people and don’t interrupt.
Really great video Brian! I loved how you covered the specs up front, then spent the majority of the video talking to the builder about what made his build unique. Would love a video on his Thatcher. :)
Awesome aircraft and great video guys.
Thank You! I appreciate you stopping by.
Both are sweet airplanes! Never expected to see a Franklin in there, kudos to Greg for jumping on the opportunity! 👍👍👍
Agreed! Unique combo. Thanks for saying hello. Looking forward to more of your flying adventures!
Nice looking plane. The aircraft spec are interesting.👍🏻👍🏻
Thank You! It is quite interesting and fast to build compared to others. Thank you for stopping by to say hello!
Great looking plane!
Love this !!
Thank You!
Modern day Sonerai. Which is a good thing!
If I had the cash I'd be building a Panther (or a Cougar if that ever happens)... But, a Sonerai is for the guy on a budget so that's what I'm working on.
Cool little plane...
Isn't it? Thanks for stopping by and Thank You for your support!
I'm building one might be flying next year 😊
That bad boy looks fast just sitting still....Taper the wings...You gotta mini Extra 300...
I’d think you’d build the 1. Tail Section … 2. The wings (hang them from the rafters or on the wall when finished) … 3. Then the fuselage in the now open floor space
Once again, thank you Dr Aviation for supplying sanity medicine😎
@T&C You...are very welcome. That is precisely what I am here for. Thank You for your support. #aviationfamily
@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel I will be ecstatic if you ever find a Dream Aircraft Tundra builder!!
@@wingslevel That is an interesting aircraft for sure. Although I don't know if they are still producing? I just checked on their website and it hasn't been updated since 2005!! And the price list mostly says "N/A." I think maybe the Bearhawk has given that platform some real competition.
@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel He designed the plane for his personal use and then made a kit for it. They make all kinds of aviation parts for Bombardier(Learjet). They used to do builder assist also. But yes pretty low on promotion although they did attend Oshkosh yearly
You need to go check out the Merlin Light
Hi there, Brian.
Reid from South Africa again.
I noticed a Marvel Schebler feeding that Franklin. Although Kelly Aerospace suggested to me that a throttle body from Rotec would be best for mine, I went for a MS .
Is there any way you could find out what model number he's chosen?
The one in the books ran mine too rich, but that could be that I was taken for a ride by the overhauler in the states....
A C150 carb runs my Franklin 4A-235-B31 just beautifully....
Good job on your content once again!
Reid
I think you and I have the exact same model number. Is yours with the intake "logs" that run around the perimeter of the engine and has a more "automotive" style oil pan? Yes... I will inquire and see what was planned for mine. I don't want to reinvent the wheel if you already found something that works perfectly. Send me an email again and with more photos and maybe a VIDEO of yours running, idling and flying???
@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel Sure.
I'll do that as soon as I can....
Can it fit 3 blade?
Not sure why he's making comparisons to the RV-8. A comparable Van's product would be the RV-3. Kit prices and specs are pretty similar. Some people just don't like to do what everyone else is doing, which is fine.
it's a piece of junk, I got burned, lost almost 12 grand, the parts are sitting untouched in my shop now for over a year, it's ridiculous, .020" . Even worse, it isn't until you give them your money that you find out they only give you plans for half the plane, the frame is omitted. Then they tell you they don't certify their welders cause the FAA says they don't have to......, aircraft manufacturers certify their welders for liability reasons, not cause the FAA forces them to. But they say you can't have the drawings for the frame cause it's "beyond the scope of the home builder" LOL, LOL.
I have verified this with aviation insurance, you are wide open with an aircraft like this, the limits of liability are very low for exp aircraft.
All I ever wanted them to do was just take back the parts, they actually have a waiting list and they refuse, saying they've done no wrong, they insist on me paying another charge.
Take a look at the owners court records in Clay County florida, I should have done some more research for sure.
How tall does it accommodate?
It's certainly best to try one on for size yourself, but I sat in one at Sun 'n Fun. I felt it'd be comfortable for me at 6' 3". The built-in adjustability for both the rudder pedals and seat positioning is unique compared to most aircraft which might have one or the other, if any, but really not both.
@@utuberagain18 Thank you
@@utuberagain18I am 6:6“ Any chance to fit?
🐶
About engine
There is an oil leak at the oil filter. 6.00
I think that was a sharpie alignment mark so that he can quickly see if the filter is loose...
@@scottmiller4711 ohh ok
Actually it was aircraft grade permatex from the AN fitting install.
these makers of kit planes with central welded steel cage construction are misleading their customers. They are telling people that it's not necessary to certify their welders because the FAA says they're no regs for it. They try to mislead by stating things like "our welders went to school, they have experience" etc etc..... all of it inconsequential, only passing recent certification test proves this.
The FAA doesn't say Boeing has to certify their welders either, they do it for liability reasons. It's been verified with insurers of experimental aircraft, the limits of liability coverage are low, welding liability issues are not trivial.
ALSO....beware of kit plane manufacturers who withhold parts of the plans from you, don't let them feed you a line saying "it's not within the scope of the home builder", it's an experimental aircraft kit, the WHOLE thing is supposed to be withing the scope of the home builder.
It is a RV copy. Aerobatic with cheat rivets? Good combo...... More jobs in my future.
Any particular reason why you think a Panther is a "copy" of an RV? They share no components, the Panther has a steel tube fuselage and folding wings, which the RV does not, they have different airfoils, different aspect ratios, different gear designs, different control systems. RV's (other than the 12) are only to use Lycoming variants. The panther has flown on Corvair, UL, Lycoming, Jabiru, and Contential. So explain how it is a "Copy".
@John E there are MANY designs out there that "look" similar and have similar "shape." But the core is quite different all around. There is definitely some influence from Vans, Sonex, and a few other aircraft in there I can see. Taking some of the best ideas from each I am certain. It is good to have variety. Especially for those who can't afford a build time of 3,000hr and would prefer a 1,000hr build. Enter in Pull Rivets VS. Solid AN Rivets. Thank you for stopping by to say hello today! Catch you in the next one!
Not even in the air and the Franklin has mag issues. Uggggg!
Fair enough. I think honestly it was an issue with one the Electronic Mags (on one side) that wasn't working properly and now he is wanting to try something with keeping the Automotive plugs and wires with the Aircraft Mags. Doing something unique with the cap. So... it isn't the ENGINE's fault really that parts are being swapped. "Experimenting."
Awaiting a second aircraft mag from ACS. LONG lead time! The electronic ignition failed after two hours and after 6 months of testing parts, I gave up and went to what works. Runs fine on one mag now.
