Definitely mungbean in that sesame ball. We used to get them all the in Vietnam. They were much smaller though! The coconut dessert looked yummy as well. 😊 The corndog thing looked like a Korean corn dog. They also do the cheese on top- sausage on the bottom combo (though there are a lot of different varieties).
The sticky purple ball one is call kao num tum (means boil rice ball) or kao num hau gnoc. We use purple glutinous rice flour, sometimes it’s green (pandan leaves juice ) or just plain white glutinous rice flour for the outer layers. There’s various kinds of fillings such as caramelize sugar with shredded coconut, mung beans paste ( yellow beans), taro, and etc.
Hey Trung! 👋😊 Of course we remember you! We loved our time in Hue even though it was only one day. We can’t wait to go back through the footage from Vietnam and get those vlogs posted. 😊 Thanks for watching and saying hello! How are you?
Bon appétit madame et monsieur!! the first taste sweet is call sesame ball or sesame seed ball or jian dui in chinese etc... love it lucky you!!! take good care as well!! sabai dee !!
that sesame ball is SO BIG. I've never seen them that big, they are usually double the size of a golf ball. it is mung bean, made in various ways, usually plain with maybe sugar, and some people add coconut powder or flakes. you might get lucky in the USA asian stores and they have them fresh! I am not a fan of them if they aren't fresh.
Right! This thing was HUGE. We've had them since in other countries, and we love them so much. I can also imagine that we'd not like them unless they were fresh either. I bet they'd be hard. 😖

They are not tofu. They are fish balls which were shaped as cubes. They are made from fish and flour mixed with seasoning. That's why you guys have found them more tasty than tofu that you had before.
