Ethereal weaving might be nice in a event Luke deck. Be on an adjacent location for 1 of the three events and if that event was spectral razor you get to bring an enemy back to your location if you want.
I'm most excited for Olive 2. Seal of the Elders seems like a lot of XP for not a great effect, although I feel the same way about Seal of the Elder Sign. Rod of Carnamagos makes my brain hurt almost as much as Luke's "as if".
I mean if you think about it, seal of the elders is basically Agency Backup but slotless, doesn't exhaust and doesn't cost 7 in exchange for all the trouble trying to get the right tokens out, which seems pretty good.
For the rod and "revealing during" is that they found a rules wording where that 'during' only applies to that action and not anything nested, so they no longer have to have trigger skill tests get bumped out and not happen in the order they appear to. This also would let hatchet+dirty fighting work on Rita, and all around be better.
@@rupert7565 This is speculation, I forgot to include the "I hope that" in the original post. Except for the 'during' being the cause for having nested skill test bumped out, that was a rules response to Quick Thinking and Fine Clothes interaction, though I'd have to hunt down the source. But the problem is actually the 'during' persisting into the nested action, which I'm convinced there is a way to just not have that happen, which solves multiple problems. I'm sure there is wording considerations but something to have nested action not being considered 'during' the action they are nested within for card text that uses 'during'.
I'm not sure but it looks like the rod won't trigger here as far as I can tell. You have to actually *resolve* the token in the skill test to trigger those return to hand effects From Resolving Multiple Revealed Chaos Tokens: "Additionally, when resolving multiple chaos tokens, any game or card effects which trigger if a certain chaos token is revealed - such as the text "If the named chaos token is revealed during this skill test…" on Recall the Future - will trigger if any of the resolved chaos tokens meet the specified conditions." It's another thing where the game says one thing but actually means something slightly different and gets very annoying to parse. Also that entry might not even apply here, but there's definitely rules shenanigans where revealed sometimes means resolved when dealing with multiple tokens Alternative reading, you do get to use the tokens from the rod but you also have to resolve all of their modifiers under ST5, which says you apply "the effects of the chaos token(s) revealed" . Which is certainly spicy
@@rtm223 That's probably good, but I'd still like a switch to 'during' not including nested actions because it's still has other problems and the potential to lead to more whenever they print a card with 'during' or that can create a nested action. Like right now, hatchet looks like it would work really good with Rita, but several trigger interactions mess that up because of stuff that had to be put in due to problems from 'during' extending into nested actions.
I know that we are all excited for the future of the game but it still does hurt a bit that there won't be any Return to for Drean Eaters and Innsmouth :/
People are legitimately losing their minds over this Rod of Carnamagos stuff with "reveal tokens." The rules lawyers are on the case over on reddit. Waiting for a left-field ruling from FFG that shocks us all.
I don't get the rod thing with song of the dead. Like, you only reveal those chaos token in that specific ability, right? Why would you be able to use it to reveal more chaos tokens in song of the dead?
I'm not sure I'm that big on mesmeric influence. In my experience a lot of the location effects don't trigger during skill test but beforehand or any other moment. And 1 xp for a worse guts just to ignore a keyword is also not great.
If that thing with rod works with the events why wouldn't it work with every mystic spell checking if a symbol is revealed ? The wording is the same. Also...that would work for skull of the dead ???
