Fair play to you getting out on a night like that it's been a few years since I've done it but I've found night tides with rough weather can bring excellent fishing.
Tried for Cod in the deep water marks in Co Clare Ireland a few times caught a few, but it's a tackle graveyard lol rotten bottoms, you'll still snag a swivel now and again between rocks. I'll persevere. Well done on a great clip again 👍
Great vid Slippy. Here’s my tripod tip, you’ve plenty already ! I’m a bit of a wuss for washing the grot off my hands after bating up, no problem on a rock edge wash your mitts in a rock pool, I bought a Korda collapsible bucket. Ideal for keeping fresh water handy on the pier. Added a longer throwing line on it. Also use it to hang under the tripod, works well. Well done for getting out there in the dark. Tight lines. Ivan
Cheers Nathan … enjoyed the video mate, Nice but windy session. Thanks for sharing your videos this year Nathan Hope you have a fantastic Christmas mate you take care 👍🎣🎣
Another class video mate. I can’t wait for you to be back on the lures though! you got me back into fishing in a big way this year and I can’t thank you enough… my girlfriend maybe not so much… 😂 no but in all seriousness we both watch your videos the second they come out and love them all keep it up pal. Tight lines.
Good Morn Nathan , not a blank mate i thought you were off to a cracking start , but the wind got up & Made conditions very hard for you both , well done anyway for this video, so as always take care & tight lines
Always a great watch, very informative and well done on getting a few decent codling out in those conditions, fair game to you both, tight lines as always
Eyup Nathan. If you can, please let your old mate Phill know that I wish him a Merry Christmas and a fishy new year. The best of everything to you and yours for the holiday and I'll sithi after. There you are - I never swore once that time. I did notice that everything got blown off except the cameraman and the sound engineer though. Nice work. Very professional I thought. 😇 🎄🎅🎣🐟🙂❤
For the rod stand Nathan - carry an empty 2lt bottle or similar. Fill it in a rock pool and then hang the full bottle off the bait hook on the rod stand with a bit of line. That extra weight gives the stand much more rigidity. You can also just carry a piece of string and tie a rock to it and hang that. Anyway you get the drift.
Nice video produced in naff conditions Nate' with a couple of decent fish thrown in. No jokes about having 'a little swell' or 'a rotten bottom' but, an unlikley tip for you. Try using your tripod the wrong way round. It takes half the effort to pull a conventionally used tripod over because the effort is being shared by two points of rotation ie, the two forward facing legs. So, when you have wind, waves or God forbid, a really good fish pulling against one leg facing out to sea, it will have to pull twice as hard to pull the tripod over. Simple physics lad. Don't know why I'm the only one doing it.
Makes total sense, I think you could have found a gap in the market there- the next great innovation in fishing tripods or an add-on to the original tripod🤔 All the best mate and tight lines
Always enjoy your vids , this one reminds me of fishing for cod when they were on the south coast , in gales , only a Abu Atlantic 484 but fun , I was a mad fisherman back then , only fish in Norway now
Exactly the reason why I haven't been to Norway, yet, I don't want to spoil the fishing at home. I do need to go at some point, though. Glad you liked the vid👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets biggest cos I had out there was a 58lb cod , never seen one that big , never knew they existed that big , then a lady on another had one at 80lb ,
Another entertaining session, learn more from your vids every time, great explanations of why you use certain rigs in different states of weather ,tide etc well done for persevering in those conditions, look forward to your next session.
Love your vids mate … I’d love to bump into you sometime in the future while out fishing , most of my fishing is done on the east coast around Whitby/robin hoods bay .. had some good fish out so far this season…. My set up is the zulcron 435 XT with a penn surf blast 2 8000 , 58lb braid straight through into a pulley Penel rig … keep the vids coming mate … tight lines 👍👍
Hi slippey, instead of using crimps at the top of your rig you could use a power gum knots, that way if you need to change hook or full snood, you xan slide the power gum knots down or up to keep the hook tight in your splashdown
Nice as usual Nathan, thank you, ps on the rod stands I had, at the top where the legs meet there was a hook to hang a weighted bag filled with rocks which stopped the rest being blown by putting pressure on the legs, yours not got that?
Thanks David, We shared Steve's rod stand, but i think i remember it having a hook. I normally hang my camera bag off my own stand but it didn't cross my mind using Steve's, I'll know for next time. Tight lines🎣👍
Morning Nathen, a good video as usual. Couple of times I have seen the little ginger one on your vids, please say hello to him from me (Nellie)..Old LD comrade. Some canny fish caught pal.
I've asked John lock if he's fished snaggy areas where he does his foraging and flat out NOPE too snaggy and although I agree its a pain in the ass snagging but my local beach is shelves rocks 🪨 slate and shingle and although I do lose atleast one rig per session if I rotten bottom and stick to areas where I know what it's like after the tide covers it I do OK I've had big huss, dogs Pollack theirs flounder (won't get into the flatfish issue) but for the variety I say losing the odd lead/rig is worth it also I usually go there bait collecting and find the lost rigs.
I agree the Squid presentation is a big help. Let the head move in the tide 😊
Very watchable. As always
Thanks Eric
Fished north wales Sunday Nathan. Wind was howling. Doesn't everything become become hard work. But we love it😂😂👍
Nice one lads
Crazy conditions mate, well done for toughing it out.
Great video again mate and nice to see a few codling 🎣👍
Love the out takes 😂

Nice endurance episode. 👍

Cracking video as always buddy.
Cheers Tony!
At least you got out there matey
Epic bite from that second fish must have a very high protein diet lol. Rate your 🦑 presentation will have to try that 👍🏼

another entertaining video Nathan, weather crap but well done😊

As regards rod stands. I use the Shakespeare salt stand. On a beach bullet proof
of course you were out in that, we couldn't sleep that night for the wind noise! I admire your dedication Nathan, nice coupla fish too.
It was howling wasn't it, it seemed to come from nowhere. Thanks Geoff, all the best and tight lines👍🎣🎣
Cheers for the video, have a great Christmas. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Thanks Glen, You too👍👍🎣🎣
Thanks for a great vid 👍

Fair play guys, done well with the conditions 👍

A carrier bag full or rocks off the beach does the same job and is smaller to carry
Bucket of water will do too.
I do, I normally hang my drybag filled with camera kit and batteries off my own tripod, slipped my mind to do that this time for whatever reason

I use rubber bait stops, or a short piece of tubing in a granny knot. Both work well, and infinitely adjustable
@@kevinbartlett1017 it saves having to use a completely new rig. I can never tie a replacement snood to the right length once the crimps are in place.
Well done, especially in tough conditions. Can I ask what is that red stuff you are stuffing the squid baits with?
It's called cart. It's made from female edible crabs
@@SlippyLimpets thank you!

Rougher the better
What the ingredients did you use for bait, except squid?
Just cart. It's my favourite bait
TRY TRY TRY And eventually you will get a clunker nice one mate be safe
Cheers Barry!
Grab a bag of sand and hang it under your tripod to lower the centre of gravity and make it more stable.
