James is quite correct about Sea Ray's reputation over here in America. One quibble, though: If no berth and no anti-fouling costs, then we have to count in the cost of the trailer. So yes, it will cost more than estimated...but the flip side is that it's always a joy to have nearby access to your boat for DIY and, more importantly, nautical daydreaming.

Yes trailer is extra and expensive 😩

Big up the Sea Ray James 👌🏻
My little old 240 Sundancer is ok for the time being,
Fuel is at about the right cost per hour,
Last season I was using approx £100 a weekend, about 4hrs use over the weekend of mixed speeds 5-25 knots,
Probably looking at £130 now fuel prices have increased,
Just did the manifolds and risers, parts were £1200, fitted myself,
These boats are easy enough to work on yourself if you have some mechanical car knowledge,

Good stuff James. In fact this was my first boat in 1996. Sea Ray 190. In those days they had a little cuddy cabin, little steps and a split windshield to get to the bow, no bow rider. Bow riders are fairly new concept. We would just throw down some beach towels and lay on the bow and make the best of it. The cuddy cabin was quite small, but it did have a toilet under the center cushion for emergency use only! Basically the same engine and lower end. Good boat for running around with friends, anchoring at sandbars, etc. Fun, fun, fun!

      They do cuddies too

Brilliant! Love the JB scoring although if that only gets 8/10 for quality and the score is relative to the boat size, then I’m intrigued to see what impeccable standard would achieve a big JB 10!

I really enjoy your presenting style. No pretending to know everything, "Hmmm, where's my sheet of paper?" It makes these way more enjoyable. You also said you'd give us some cons, but I don't remember any. What were the cons?
Also, as a car guy, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your need to point out the different cars around. The tow vehicle, the transit van, and the Maserati. It helps my obsessive brain.

Thanks Christian ! On the cons - hmmm - I cannot think of many - in fact none - she is a great boat 🥳

Nice one James! Would love to see your take on a Parker 850 Voyager.
As you know, we took delivery of a new one of these, fitted with a Mercury Verado 300, from you guys (three cheers for Dan 🙂), in March this year and we love it. Insurance is very reasonable at c£700 from Bill at William Taylor brokers, berthing at Cobb's Quay £4,300pa (a certain Lilliput marina wanted over £11,000!), service & antifoul anticipated around £1,000pa. Petrol wise, we are getting an average of 1.8mpg (please also give MPG on your stats - more useful IMO). Last Sunday, flat sea, four adults, steady 26knots, couldn't believe we were getting 1.9-2.2mpg 🙂 We didn't get close to that in our old, smaller, lighter boat, a Jeanneau CapCamarat 7.5 with a Yamaha 300. We use the Parker a lot so our annual fuel bill is likely to be around £6,000 but we are fortunate that we didn't need to finance the purchase so no costs there.
Keep up the videos - always a laugh plus some occasional education.
PS For anyone thinking about outboards, our Mercury 300 V8 is almost silent!

Quick question Mr James I have been intrigued in American boats as of late, and was wandering from the ones I have seen tend to be left hand drive or whatever the boating terminology is. Why in this particular case is this one right hand drive?

    • @Boatscouk
      @Boatscouk  2 года назад +3

They are neither left or right - just the design of each model and they are the same worldwide 😎

So at that 20knt cruise speed with that fuel tank gives it a range of about 75nm?

It's listed on your site for £64,950 so either your entire cost of ownership is wrong or inflationary pressures of the modern boatyard. Come on, your not Tesco.
I checked because I wanted to know the weight for the roller trailer which is £3600 approx for the most stable model.
