I love your videos as you know, but showing warts and all, from something that you are actually trying to sell is great, well better than great, along with taking down the vale of the cost to run and buy a boat. Long may you continue to do these videos
James, I'm confident that by now you realize you offer quite a unique kind of boat review video...and now you've added further uniqueness. Congratulations to you (and your long suffering assistants). You, Jack Haines and also Nick are in a class by yourselves.
Great stuff! Judging by comments I've read on various boat channels over the last year I'm guessing that at least half the viewers might be people like me toying with the idea of their first boat, so this is great. I love to watch the more expensive stuff but it's good to get a mix of both, plus getting an idea of real world costs is extremely useful. Cheers!
Do this more often James. You're great! Honest, entertaining, and you provide great insight into the costs of these boats. And the score is a great idea.
Great video, it's nice to see a boat that's not aimed at the super rich. Really good showing running costs and the format works well. It's refreshing to hear your honest / candid review.
Brilliant. 👍👍 I really like this new format. Helps folks make a much more informed decision when looking at boats. This would definitely be a boat that I’d look at if I were in the market for a boat right now.
I have a caravan up in the Lakes, apart from fuel there's not that much difference cost wise. Personally I'm new to boating, I'd have it dropped off in Windermere and just cruise gently round the lake. "And now, we'll look at her many quirks and features." I definitely enjoy seeing boats that are actually relatively affordable, cheers.
Only came a cross your videos the last week or so, and love your brutal honesty. ‘This boat is £140 and I want the commission, but…….’ The world needs you and Nick Burnham to team up!
To me boating in UK seems way more expensive than I'm used to here in Finland. I own a similar size (and priced) boat. Berth cost is less than 1000€ (= 700€) and mine is in a Marina that is quite expensive in finnish standards (200 m away from Metro station in Helsinki capital area). Incurance roughly 1000€/annum. Service 1000€ (Volvo certified) and other costs 1000€. In addition I have to strore mine in a warm hall during the Winter months (frozen sea). That adds 2000€. For winter storage there are less expesive options for as well. Summary. My fixed annual costs for a similar size boat in Finland are less than half compared to UK. That is a big diffrence in my opinion. No wonder boating is quite popular here. And they say Finland is an expensive country.
Thank you so much for that most informative video……I just think you’ve been spoiled by too many Fairlines, Princesses and Sunseekers, I think that’s an absolutely cracking boat 😃
Very useful. Just one comment on depreciation, retail might not change but if i paid £140k at retail and sold it back to you 1 year later, you'd need to keep some margin, so i would lose something. £5-10k?? So i'd still consider that in my depreciation calculation.
I'm curious, as I've never driven or captained a boat, what qualifications or licences do I need before I even buy my first boat? Of course I am responsible but will you really just hand me the keys and say off you go have fun? Great video again. You're the best!
You don't have to have a licence but I would recommend some training such as Powerboat Level2 (uk), you will need a Vhf marine radio licence available through ofcom (uk) to be legal, also Vhf radio operator licence from the RYA. Which involves training and written exam and practical exam, don't be put off by it though. Both courses are great fun and from a safety point of view a must imo.
Thanks James, another good review. Like seeing the costings etc as always helpful. I reckon you could insure this a bit cheaper (I pay £800 on a similar sized boat worth not much less). For prospective owners if you’re prepared to compromise a bit on where you keep her you should see a saving over the £6k for berthing as well. Fuel costs on this definitely cheaper than mine though which has twin petrol outboards 😳. Look forward to the next review
Loved this video.. Informative as always. Question... If one wouldn't Charter a boat like this, then How much would a boat of this size be to HIRE for a day / weekend / Week ? When buying a boat is out of the question, Hiring would be the only option for a lot of people, my self included.
Thanks for that. Perhaps you might like to do a video start to finish and what your company can provide. Like training, like berths, servicing, accounting, finance, transport to Europe, refit, skilled artisans internaly, furnishings, covers. Planning. Crew?
Good stuff James. I like the new scoring format. A small suggestion if I may, consider pleasure meter instead of measure of pleasure. They are both terrible names, but the first doesn't make me feel I need a shower as much as the later. Thanks. Take care.
I do kind of like this boat it not bad for a first boat, if I win the premium bonds I would get it without two thoughts I think I would have it at Canvey point by Canvey yacht club I think that water is deep enough for it
I'd disagree that Bavaria is an entry-level brand. In their size class, they're far from the cheapest. They're solid mid-tier. Would take a brand-new Finnmaster T8 over this one though. Even smaller, but more modern and space-efficient.
I've never given any bad comments on your tours James, if you are a seasoned boater like myself, we look past the uncleaned state of the boat's interior, this will be rectified before the boat is handed over to the purchaser! Another great tour James despite the cameraman's phone keep going off, how unprofessional of him!
Yes I did Howard 😂 but that was 2 years ago. The market is always evolving and we pride ourselves on moving with it. I think Bavaria make some great family boats at affordable prices and I think that’s good news for buyers coming into the market. Happy to say I was wrong when I said that 😊
If you are going to own a soft top boat you best keep it on the UK or Northern European coast. In the med it will fade and you’ll be cleaning Sahara sand off of it. On the river you’ll be scraping off mould and ingrained pollen every spring. Happy boating 😂
If I was selling that boat I would sand down the table and varnish it. Make it look better. I can't afford anything like that but if buyers see the boat in its best condition then the thing will surely sell for best price. Tatty wood is not a good selling point.
Hi jimmy - I agree. We sometimes have a large volume of incoming boats (sometimes 30 per month) and we are still a small team in Essex (15) so it’s on our list 😎
@@Boatscouk also, you hitting your head was funny. That aft cabin by was ok for a boat that length but care is needed when moving around in it. I would use a boat more than 50 hours a year. Based in a Clyde marina, I would want to go out most summer weekends. I have access to a sailing boat, a 36 ft, but just fancy motor cruising. Too expensive to run on current diesel prices, though I could afford to buy one.
love how you think a plus £100k boat is small and a joke, taking the piss out of the restroom when this boat has a shower head not attached to the sink
Hi Ritchie - we sell boats from £5k speedboats to £5m motor yachts -we never look down on any boater whatever there wallet - that’s why we are so busy. Remember these videos are meant as informative fun and should be treated as such 😎🥳

Thanks JT 🥳 the vids are great fun to make and I love to tell you how much it all costs and what’s good and what’s not. Enjoy 😊
I'm so glad you are adding in the costs it's very useful and can you make you dream and aim for a more realistic goal. Love the honesty as well
👍🏻👌👌
As a Brit living in Canada, I missed this kind of humour, keep up the great work, your honesty and wit a like a breath of fresh air-your socks…hmm
Are the Canadians as dry as this then 😂

Cracking tour as always. Thank you for the extra work you're putting into them and the personal injuries your suffering to bring them to us.
😂
Great video, it's nice to see a boat that's not aimed at the super rich. Really good showing running costs and the format works well. It's refreshing to hear your honest / candid review.
Great boat for a beginner or for couple. Perfect boat to take out every weekend when the weather is good. Honest review, great job.
Brilliant. 👍👍 I really like this new format. Helps folks make a much more informed decision when looking at boats.
This would definitely be a boat that I’d look at if I were in the market for a boat right now.
Great first boat - I hope that came across
Brilliant Vlog James, so informative with costs... great starter boat - think we all appreciate your honesty too - great review !

I love the lakes Phil - beautiful place 👍🏻
What a fun video James but so interesting and informative at the same time thanks for all the effort you are putting into your videos 👍🏻
Love these “how much does it cost to run” videos. More please! How about Axopar 28, Axopar 37, a 21ft rib (Brig, Ribeye etc), Merry Fisher etc.
I will get to them all eventually 🥳
I always love your videos, very informative and honest.
👌👍🏻😝

Thanks for pointing out 4 reasons not to buy before we got to the helm😂. Nice little boat though I thought. Thanks for the tour.
Cracking boat
Like the new format and info great keep it up🙂
As usual a great video with your unique and honest presenting style, cheers James.
Thanks KH
An unique design and accommodation provided. I liked and SUBSCRIBED

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣... I don't suppose you could show us round the head again could you James 🤣, great review of a entry level boat , love the score sheet 👍👍👍👍
😂😂😂 - yes the new score sheet will be on every boat now - more work but it does what he says on the tin 😆
as a subscriber james.you should keep this format and you will grow.great segment.;)
Will do thanks Steve 😎

Liking all the vids 🙂👍🏻. I would love to see a costing vid for the Superhawk 50 as its an older boat, performance based and with three engines. 😁

😎😍

I know what you mean 😂😂
Great video as always 🤙🏻
Great idea with the new scoring format and costings idea! Bit brutal on poor old Bavaria mind :)
I think other scores will show her in a good light
thats right the cost of stuff is of huge importance!

Let’s agree entry to
Mid as a compromise ? 😀
Can you do a film on what manufacturers are doing to build boats when petrol and diesel are no longer available.
The trouble is that there is no actual
Plan. We are 20 years behind car industry on average so let’s see what they come up with on hydrogen 😊
Why did the loo smell so much?
Great review
Love the cost breakdown
Needed a clean - I exaggerated the smell a bit (poetic licence)

I know- he has 2 phones lol 😂
Successful content providers need a niche, I believe you've found yours 👍, really interesting to listen to and I quite like this boat. 👍❤️🇬🇧
Thanks Cookie Monster 👹
...so, you have fixed sound, but not video quality?
Getting there 😂
diesel capacity please can I move from Durban to Perth with out need diesel on my way?
250 mile range per fill 😋
Perhaps this would be a great boat for the vertically challenged family. Definitely a good deal of TLC is required before she's ready for a date...
could have cleaned it.
👌😂😂👌
I remember you saying to me you’d never take a Bavaria in!

@@Boatscouk No worries. Yes the market is very different currently. Anyway I have a shiny new V40 Princess which I am delighted with. My 3rd one!

£2500 insurance no way 🤯

A bit more enthusiasm please.
The audio is too low. can't even hear with my headphones on while riding my bicycle.
Even with volume up Rodney?

Done more damage to Bavaria boats than Megan Merkel to the Royal family ...
😂😂 they are great starter boats
