    Always overlooked this Campbelltown mainly because the double cask is available for £30 decent review Kev. 👍

      I totally agree, it was a good dram I suspect at a good price but value for money, taste and experience the double cask wins hands down. It’s a such a solid dram for the value of it. Always pick it up sun £30 too.

    I tried it only once, invited for a press presentation of supermarket whiskies a few years ago, liked it, but felt of course its limitations, but couldn't find it on my neighborhood or on line (curiously), so gave up & as I knew Iiked it better I finally bought me (on line too) the "Double Cask" which I enjoy a lot. Cheers & see you maybe tomorrow night on your live show. Congrats, btw...me I'm close to 400, still very low compared to a lot of channels around, but it's life....

    Great review! Wondering if you might review an Arran sometime and wondering your thoughts on their whisky... cheers to you and happy weekend!

      I love the few Arran whiskies, I've come across. Actually so much that I've bought the old 14 and 18 versions just for storage indefinitely in the cellar :)
      Arran for me is a really "honest" and genuine dram.
      One of (if not the) best affordable (you define that) I've ever had, was the 15y anniversary edition from Arran. I would love to be able to find a bottle of that dram just once more... but, I guess that's the same as wishing for a "repeat" of ones youth...

      Thanks for the kind words Melissa, and no problems at all... I don’t have any Arran on the shelf at the moment which is sad... but no worries I’ll be able to get my hands on some and be more than happy to have a review done. I do enjoy Arran and love the new branding. Can’t actually believe I don’t have any on the shelf... see if I can sneak a bottle on the shelf without the partner finding out lol! Slainte

    Enjoyed the sample thanks Kevin. Not sure this is one I'd be buying though - at £35 it's in the bracket of age stated stuff like the Arran 10 and Deanston 12 which I'd mark significantly higher. A decent introduction to Campbeltown, though perhaps the Double Cask might represent better value for a few quid less.

    Great top!, guessing not a bargain with that Gleneagles logo on it. That Campbeltown Loch has long been on my list of supermarket drams to purchase when it's been on offer. Good to know now I won't be wasting my money. I have the Glen Scotia 15 which is one of my favourite whiskies and go to when I just want something to fill my glass, not too expensive but really interesting and full of flavour.

      Another Xmas gift. But one of my favorite places in Scotland is Gleneagles and love all three courses too. Golf and whisky just go hand in hand I feel. The 15 is a cracker too I do really enjoy the victoriana at cask strength just offers so much. But still to have any campbeltown whisky which doesn’t grab my attention. Always top quality and just the bit different from the rest

      Thanks John, just picked out the Ryder cup blue from 2014. Felt the only thing I was missing was being on the golf course with my hip flask full sipping my terrible round away. Slainte

    The 40% and the supermarket presentation made me a bit doubtful about giving this one a proper go. May need to reconsider. Cheers

      Totally agree it does put me off the lower abv but this still had that great campbeltown distinction the only thing that was taken away was the grip of it for the low abv but still enjoyable, if I had 30 and had to chose a Glen Scotia I would choose the double cask for sure

    I'm a noob. I loved this whisky. I got TCP at the end. Am I wrong in that?

    • @Letstalkwhisky
      @Letstalkwhisky  3 года назад

      I’d never say anyone is wrong with whisky. We all taste and smell different. One whisky I always get TCP from is Laphroaig. I struggled at the start but really enjoy it especially in the cardais bottling. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment hope you enjoy your whisky journey as much as I am. Slainte
