Story 1: the funny/fascinating thing about this is Judaism and Christianity both worship the same god, while Jewish people dont accept Jesus as their Christ (or Messiah) while Christian’s do. Put it simply same religious beliefs, different motives and or traditions. So I don’t know why that lady is complaining.
Simple really. Anyone who doesnt believe in what she believes is automatically evil and will go to hell. Thats the default mindset of all "devout" Christians like her
"Same religious beliefs" nope, not even that. They are both hugely different One claims that (parafrasing) "at the end of days" when "heaven on earth" is a reality, the true god followers will inherit earth and all non believers will be their slaves. Which one has that as dogma of faith? Don't be afraid of it. God is benevolent and his followers will be "good slave masters", according to their sacred scriptures.
A lot of Christians who've really gone off the deep end think that Jewish people will just go to Uber-Hell no matter what because they rejected Christ as their Messiah. To them, that's the Ultimate Sin. You know, plain old ancient anti-semitism and the like. This belief is at the center of literally every right-wing conspiracy theory.
Story 1: Harassing people into joining a religion is the best thing to get them to never follow that religion. No matter what it is. What draws people to religion is love and acceptance, and Christ teaches love for all people.
As a Christian, 1st story rankled me. I adhere vehemently to ‘judge not least ye should be judged’. It’s not my place or obligation to impose Christianity on anyone. Jesus ate, talked, and reached out to everyone; ie Romans, Greeks, and any non-Israelite peoples, even socially outcasted. Forcing my own beliefs on others is against the ‘love thy neighbor’ and ‘lead by example’ tenets. That SM isn’t religious, she’s a fanatic. Every religion has them, sadly.
S1: step mom is a psycho. As a woman who was raised Catholic but now is non denominational Christian, I don't claim this crazy woman. Also Christians should be grateful for Judaism as without Judaism, Christianity wouldn't even be a religion. Jesus was Jewish and if anything, I admire the Jewish relationship with God at the same time Jesus came to help spread God's word.
Story 2: f**k that I'd never want a relationship with her again, i don't have a relationship with my half sister and will never have one with her, so I'm in the exact same position to common on this, if ny sister rang me up and asked that question, I'd simply say "cause i don't like you and i don't consider you family, don't contact me again" if she told me to "grow up" I'd say "letting go of irrelevant people is part of growing up, you are irrelevant to me"
Story 1: There are more than one paths to heaven/nirvana/wherever good, if one were to even believe in the concept of it. Just be a good person and treat others the way you would want to be treated, regardless of your faith(s) or even lack thereof. Story 2: If you are truly sorry, you will understand that the person you wronged is not ready to accept your apology or forgive you. You leave them alone after your apology, regardless of the results.
I grew up in an evangelical denomination, not one of the major ones, but it held to the mission of "The Great Commission," to go forth and preach the Gospel to all nations. But we never did anything like the way this woman did. I never once heard anyone speak to anyone about Jesus and going to hell like this lady did. The word "evangelical" has definitely gone bad in a lot of ways and I hate that it has. I still hold on to that faith of my youth and have spoken to people about my faith, but I would neve attack people for what religion or no religion. I was very close to a cousin who was atheist and I had a good friend who was also atheist and we could discuss things in a rationale manner. No wonder people turn against the church and its people. Even as believer, if anyone came to me and said that to me, I'd walk away. You don't threaten people to God.
It's understandable that you feel conflicted about this situation. While it's good to see someone acknowledging their past mistakes, especially if it involves hurtful behavior, it's also important to prioritize your own emotional well-being. Rebuilding a relationship after such a difficult history takes time, effort, and genuine accountability. Take your time to assess her intentions and ensure this reconciliation is on your terms. Remember, setting boundaries is perfectly okay, and forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting or invalidating your past experiences. Stay true to what feels right for you.
Gee the stepmom needs to stay away from ops kids seriously she's over the top Christian I'm Christian but I respect others beliefs saddens me stepmom can't
She is over the top fundamentalist. I would not call her Christian at all, and I'll bet she has little knowledge of the Bible. She probably thinks the Ten Commandments are Christian, but they predate Christianity. The beliefs attributed to Jesus are the Beatitudes, blessings recounted by Jesus in Matthew 5:3-10 within the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew, and four in the Sermon on the Plain in the Gospel of Luke, followed by four woes which mirror the blessings. ALL fundamentalists of whatever religion seem to believe that being happy and having fun is the worst sin of all, and they delight sadistically in punishment and control.
Story 1: As a believer, I suspect step mom's church denomination believes in replacement theology i.e. the church/Christianity overall replaced the Jews as God's chosen people. This is not true, and what is called false teaching. I won't go any further on the subject, but I don't support it.
@@shells500tutubo it does though whether you want to admit it or not. Notice how all the pressure was on the male OP to reconcile despite not wanting to? If it were a woman her wishes would be respected 100%, because if not that would be controlling and abusive.
It's surprising that there are actually people who believe you'll go to hell even if you're Jewish if you don't convert to Christianity even though it branched off of Judaism. Some people are so dumb. 😂

Yeah. It's really sad and frustrating. Sometimes I have to make an effort to remind myself that while some Christians can be very hateful and feel a need to crush all non-Christians, not all of them are that way. It leaves such a bad taste in your mouth and I hate how it reflects on the religion and Christians as a whole. Got destroyed by a Christian... and proved the Temple's point of how some Christians will destroy or disrespect anything of any other religion but cry discrimination if anything happens to a church. It was BEAUTIFUL.
