Legitimately… I have been trying to figure out my live vocal latency issues for a few years. After searching EVERYWHERE for an answer, you provided it. The output on the vocal channel to ‘ext out’ vs ‘master’ took care of it. I have for years had to go into a separate mixer in order to perform appropriately. GAME CHANGER for me. Thanks a million 👑
oh my God finally a tutorial where I can understand, the guy speaks slowly and clearly, the level of professionalism in this tutorial is phenomenal. *happily subbed* so much appreciated I can't wait to make some new vocals with this
Dan, Thanks... in 16 minutes you answered everything I needed to know about how to use the vocoder into Ableton Live and play another instrument (guitar in my case). You made my day :) .
TNice tutorialS IS WHAT I NEEDED BRO, thank you for taking the ti and doing tNice tutorials for most of that are starting with tNice tutorials beautiful tNice tutorialng called
@JurritL a balance line has a phase reversed copy on a 3rd wire, at the end of the lead this is passed thru a differencial amp which takes the reversed copy away from the original, since noise comes from power lines etc it is equal on both lines and the subtraction cancels the noise out, leaving you with clean signal. balance leads require 3 wires per channel of audio, so they use XLR or TRS jacks. as opposed to phono rca's or guitar TS jack leads.
Absolutely excellent, as usual from Dubspot. This should also be labeled: "How to Understand Ableton's Vocoder for Vocals". Great hardware tips here too.
Great video! I've been having the same noise issues when going from computer vocals in studio to live venues. Using a pream/compressor before running your line into the audio interface is a great idea.
great video! one of the best expanations. I like that You show us every routing, hardware, your setup and some live gig video samples. Thanx a lot. I'm a bassplayer to and use lots of stuff thats in this video. Now a will try to find my solutions. Your examples are helping me very well.
Oh and to answer some people questions around regarding low latency interfaces, the only one I know able to be stable at 64 samples is with RME fireface and Mac OS X (doesn't matter, USB or Firewire, both can work at 64 samples) which provides about 1.2ms (total, meaning, in latency + out latency) effectively allowing you to use a laptop (proper one ofc) as an external effects processor or dynamics etc. There's a chart in gearslutz forums about it btw.
Probably way too many, honestly their dubstep tutorials are... less than mediocre, but they have some really great Ableton tutorials, just like this one!
Thanks guys, helped immensely. Love your channel. I always made music with reason and maschine and other DAWs. So ableton is quite new to me and I want to get into performances.
I know this is an old video, but the fact that he was able to do this much processing in 2012 amazes me. I was wondering if anyone knows what laptop he's using? I've been looking at getting a 2012 MacBook Pro and upgrade it with an SSD.
