  • On 16 September 1992, opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti was interviewed alongside his then-wife, Adua Pavarotti (née Veroni) in London's Hyde Park Hotel. The pair were discussing the publication of Adua's new book, Life With Luciano, about the world-famous singer's private life with his family and friends. In a 30-minute interview, Luciano and Adua candidly spoke about their lives together after 40 years of marriage. As well as discussing his love of music, food, and people, Luciano shared his belief that Adua had given the love she once had for him to their three daughters following their births. Adua disagreed, saying that she still felt her life completely reveolved around Luciano. When the reporter asked Luciano to sing a bit of his wife's favourite song, Non t'amo più, for her, he refused. Luciano and Adua would divorce in the year 2000, after the opera singer left her for Nicoletta Mantovani, a woman 34 years Adua's junior.

He's not even refusing to sing for Adua, he's just refusing to sing for the interview after having performed last night and then just randomly acapella.

Luciano Pavarotti from the early 90s is an absolute definition of handsome. 🫠

Pfffff. Hahaha. He was one of the most handsome men to ever live. There is nothing better than those type of Italian features. When all together on a face with the smile shape of lips and twinkle eyes, shining cheeks and mischievous grin. The eyebrow movement … it is GORGEOUS.

Tough but very interesting interview, somehow sad, showing how life is complicated for everybody at some point. Pavarotti appears to me as a very smart , wise personality, not simple but gentile, honest and a very open heart.

I absolutely can’t stand these types of “interviews” where the interviewers sole interest is to create something newsworthy from a boring promo junket like they’re some kind of performing monkey. It’s so low-brow.

Yes he was a primadonna. But was it necessary...? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT...!!! As a singer myself he was THE BEST tenor voice i have ever heard. So in my opinion his arrogance at times was necessary. I don't know what's going on with his marriage. But i will say that when your from the "old country" wherever that may be. They have a different way of marriage equality. Men usually rule the roost. I'm of Armenian decent and females typically cater to males. At least that's what i saw when visiting my relatives over there. It doesn't work that way in America and that's a good thing. But you can't judge another culture's "norms".

Unprofessional. He's not someone who just sings at will. You wouldn't ask a bus driver or a waiter ....hey wait on me now like you're at the restaurant. Hey drive this bus now like you do at work. Come on. It's a vocation and a profession. You need to prepare. Not just some parlor trick.

The definition of cringe. Firstly, the interviewer is so unprepared, puerile and bad that I wonder how did they stayed so long (I could only imagine Callas in their place, she would have being gone after 30 seconds). Secondly, we don't have the cultural codes to understand their relationship and to judge (even if they ended up divorcing 8 years later). It might look like they hate each other, but it is just probably the way they interacted. The proof that the love was profound is that she was near him when he died, despite him having a new wife. He even changed his will to benefit best his first wife.
