I honestly think perrin is one of the most powerful characters by the end of books. He can literally just teleport behind you, pull you into the world of dreams against your will, and he is basically a dragon ball character in there.
The scale is unbelievably weighted to channeling with 15pts, so Perrin and Mat get 0/15. Where if all the skills were equal, a 0-10pt scale Perrin and Mat would sky rocket to probably 2, 3 behind Rand at 1.

I think for the most part that having a separate 15 point category for channeling is okay since channeling is an absolute game-changer in the WoT universe. People that can channel are for the most part on a completely different level from people that can't channel. However, Perrin and Mat do feel like exceptions to this rule. Perrin's mastery of the dream world and his wolf-brother ability feel comparably powerful to channeling (probably not the most powerful channelers, but definitely more impactful than weak channeling. You can't tell me that Morgase being able to wave a flag at a distance with great exertion is more powerful than being able to teleport at will). Likewise Mat's luck and memories rise to the level of being as powerful as some ability to channel. Perhaps a better category would be "supernatural abilities" or just "magic." While channeling means something very specific in the universe, magic could be used to describe a more general list of supernatural abilities. Perrin and Mat's supernatural abilities aren't channeling, but if you saw them in the real world, you would probably agree that it's accurate to call them "magic."

I always thought Matrim was unparalleled in power, because by the end he has the band, he's backed by the Seanchan, he's practically unbeatable in a fight, even by some of the most powerful people, can't be touched by the power and is an unparalleled military leader for the time. To me Mat was top 3 if not top 2, but that's me
Mat on a large scale is extremely powerful, but his 1 on 1 combat heavily relies on his opponent underrating him and his luck. In truth, Mat would lose to nearly any channeler with combat experience.
@@Rellen00 I disagree with Mat winning because he gets underrated. While at the white tower and still heavily physically weakened from the dagger healing he was able to beat 2 exceptionally good swordsman that had been training with swords for most all of their lives, 1 of whom ended up as a blade master. He defeated Couladin in combat as well, who was considered a very good warrior amongst the Aiel. In 1v1, I'd put him against almost anyone living, channelers included because of the foxhead medallion. To me, Mat is definitely top 5 in power with a good case for top 3. Only thing holding him back is that he can't channel but I think channeling was given too much weight for this scale.
Kyle Eisenhauer Gawyn and Galad are extremely weak since they cannot channel. Nearly any channeler can beat mat though. The only way he can beat a channeler is if the channeler is very weak in the power, or plot armor. To be fair, Mat does have canon plot armor since he is ta’veren, but if we use the ta’veren argument there is little point in arguing to begin with since anything can happen.
@@kyleeisenhauer5501 Matt died two or three times through the series, a wall dropped on him from Trollocs and Dark Hounds poisoned him. He survived two deaths because of Balefire and healing. And his medallion doesn't block all channeling, it blocks direct touch of the Weave, but it hasn't been confirmed to block the true power and Aes Sedai discover they can just channel things at him. It's nothing for a Channeler to pile up earth on him or surround him in an inferno and cook him, and that doesn't include Angreal and SaAngreal which could drop cities and shatter the planet, or reality.
Great list...though I feel Nynaeve should have full mark for effectiveness for helping with both the cleansing and the sealing of the bore, but it's one point so doesn't matter that much. The website looks amazing, can't wait!
And don't forget discovering the cure for both stilling/gentling, and to the damn taint itself! If Rand had not cleansed it from the source, Nynaeve would be like a cheat code for male channelers. Use a bit of power, get healed by Nynaeve, channel some more, get healed again, never go fully mad...

Great scale. I do think you should bump Nynaeve up though on Effectiveness. She healed Stilling / Madness, closed the bore into the Dark One's prison. I mean those alone should give her a five. No one else could do this or they would have.
I didn't hear you mention Elayne's ability to make ter'angreal and eventually from Rand's gift the ability to make angreal and sa'angreal which is pretty monumental.
16:35 due to being married to the Seanchan Empress (may she live forever), even if they lost their home continent they still hold about half of Westlands so I would argue for atleast a 9 there
I'm curious where Tuon falls in your ranking. I think she'd get full points for political power, high points for hand to hand combat, I think she'd get pretty highly ranked for special skills and objects as well as she's a sul'dam, controlling channelers and has access to some objects of power.
She also quite literally would have become the supreme ruler of everything everywhere had it not been for the extreeemely specific circumstances in Perin's life, which allowed him to break control. I would give her a 4 for effectiveness, only not a 5 because of her temper. Choosing not to help the Shadow is not the same as being incapable of it. It denounces intent, not effectiveness.
I feel like it cannot be denied that the biggest turning point is the death of Demandred tbh. Yes, Egwene was important, but Demandred was BY FAR the most important asset on the battlefield.

The "spoiler friendly" concept is amazing and is something that is desperately needed for this series, especially as new fans start reading the books with the TV show that's coming. The thing with mat is we dont know how much the pattern is helping him during the war and how much is his strength/skill. Supposedly once the war is over Mats luck would drastically lower as the pattern is no longer edging the odds. Mind you he would still be incredibly lucky but not as lucky as before. (Instead of winning 999/1000 he would win 9/10)
Im not quite sure I totally agree with your ranking system, i think it penalises both Perrin and Mat for not being able to channel and i think you may be under rating there power of being Ta’veran. I’m not sure Nynaeve should be higher than them. Definitely looking forward to new Website, see you there.
Ben van Riemsdijk Being able to channel doesn’t make you immune to being killed by it, I actually think that being Ta’Veran is more powerful than being able to channel, and that is how the Forsaken were defeated when on paper they probably should have held all the cards. It basically come down to 13 Forsaken v 3 Ta’veran, only one of whom could channel at the summit with everyone else in the supporting cast for either side.
Fabio Oertle the foxhead medalion only protects him from direct weaves. For example, one can still hurl a big rock at mat (as seen during the last battle vs Lan and Galad). Mat himself dies to Rahvin’s lightning.

Its a toss up between Damer Flinn and Nynaeve for #1. Semirhage at 3. Corele at 4. Romanda at 5, but only because she's the last one I remember. Unless we count psychiatry then I'd put Graendal in there somewhere too.
@@cdubbau135 Sumeko is above Corele and Romanda for sure. How Semirhage is described as a healer, as ghoulish as it is, she might deserve the number 1 spot. Then again Nynaeve healed stilling and madness. That one is close. I'd put Flinn just below both of them.

In my defense, whenever The Kin is mentioned whether I'm listening to the books on Audible or reading them, I generally tend to tune those parts out because I've read the story so many times and I normally gloss over Elayne's parts because her stupid choices because of Min's viewings generally tend to piss me off.
I love how Elayne is like "he's not going to hand me anything" As he keeps two kingdoms from going to war and feeding them. Then he (Rand) actually does give her two kingdoms. Lol 😂😂
How exactly does Nynaeve hold power, that isn't just saidar? She accomplishes a lot, but she ain't no continental-wide ruler. And knowledge of herbs doesn't really compare to being a wolfbrother, a tavaren, having tons of ancient knowledge or being a dreamworld savant.
Yeah that alone probably took out 1/4 of the forces of the light given how bad they described a lot of the casualty rates when things started going wrong. Not to mention how morally crippling that was. Plus having Mat required to single handedly command the forces of the light rather than having strong generals they could trust to manage different areas. And then her successfully faking her own death and taking out Asmodean.
Tuon also has the ability to channel, though she is not trained. Empress Fortuona is indisputably the most powerful person politically on the planet, save only for the Dragon Reborn himself. And after he 'dies', she is without peer.
@@Siansonea She is the most powerful person surely but she is not without peer. Elayne has all of Andor, The Two Rivers, Cairhien under her rule. The Black Tower gives it's support to Andor. And she also has the Kinswomen and on top of that she has the Dragons.

As soon as new, superior innovations are brought to the battlefield, it doesn't take much time for everyone else to copy them. Historically, that has held true for everything from horse chariots to submarines. Elayne may be even more powerful than this though. She is practically in charge of a huge alliance of nations beyond Andor and Cairhien that could easily make a united front towards the Sean'Chan
Another great video! The effort you put into your latest videos is simply astounding, so thank you, mister. I feel like no WOT fan with a heart and soul can argue about that. That said, I do have a few issues with some of the rankings. My general feeling is that channelers get an unfair advantage, as from the beginning of the series we have characters, who in my opinion are quite powerful and essential for the events in the books for their leadership and political skill, and influence on the main characters, even without any channeling. As an example for an unduly high ranked channeling character, I can easily point out to my girl Nyneave. She’s one of my personal favourites, but I don’t feel like she truly can be ranked as more powerful than either Mat or Perrin (or even Tuon or Mazrim Taim, for that matter). Yes, sure, she’s accomplished a lot in terms of her channeling abilities. She has great feats under her belt, but they all revolve around channeling or personal growth. And I can accept that the argument of her having healed madness has a significant impact in the last battle in regards to the forces of The Black Tower. But her having healed stilling has only two notable cases within the books - Logain and Siuan, and even those could’ve been healed a bit later by Damar Flyn. She gets a lot of “screen time” and a wonderful character arch, which I think would easily make one see her as more significant and thus powerful, but the two aren’t synonymous. Even if we disregard the political influence they have and the armies they control (which are far superior than anything Nyneave has access to), both Emond’s Field sidekicks could kick her ass. Perrin could easily transport Nyneave into the world of dreams, where she’d be like a kitten against a wolf :D And Mat with his medallion can just knock her on the head with a stick even in the physical world :D I think that narrowing down the exact meaning of “powerful” and expanding the “effectiveness” category to say 15 could even out the field a little bit and reorder some of the character rankings. In this way, we could see characters like Tuon, Logain, Elaida, Moiraine, Mazrim Taim, Thom, Sorilea, Davram Bashere and so on the list.
For political influence consider that she is effectively the Aes Sedai Advisor of the Queen of Andor and Cairhien, a close personal (although unofficial) Advisor of the Amyrlin Seat (Egwene), and Queen of Malkier (the acknowledged leaders of the entire Boarderlands), seems fairly influential to me.
@@stevenroetzel4470and more importantly, she gives Lan the motivation to live after Moraine, and motivates his ride to Tarwin’s Gap. Lan taking Demandred off the board was a game changer, and Nynaeve deserves partial credit for that.
I agreed with a lot of your list, but I can't help thinking that Mat and Perrin are too low due to their inability to channel. PS- The website looks awesome!
Especially considering that Mat has effectively nullified the worst of the One Power and Perrin's abilities with the "Wolf Dream" being able to defeat the Strongest Channelers (It's just a weave Egwene.)
I love the amount of thought you've put into this and I agree with the vast majority of everything you laid down! I do take a slight issue with your ranking of Nynaeve's Effectiveness at a 4. The woman cleansed the Taint on Saidin and helped Rand reseal the Bore itself! The only person to do as much for the survival of the world (and the Pattern) was Rand al'Thor.

I love Cadsuane, Demandred and Lanfear is interesting because her actions have helped Side of Light more than Shadow... But, her intention was considered by the Wheel. Wheel knew all her surface benevolence was motivated by Shadow sworn side of her... So Wheel was never fooled about her motivations... But I would have liked her having regret and Love triumphing inside her with chance for her soul to restart once more. Demandred is magnificent but also foolish. Ah, these minor Flaws turning the tides of Major events !! I am on Egwene now and I like her thirst for Knowledge and her desire to earn her place rising as high as she can. She is very much like Arjuna from Indian Epic of Mahabharata for this Quality. I love Egwene 🙂
I think Elayne's ability to make Ter'angreal should be included in the non channeling department. Since it's essentially one of the most OP ability in the series. Egwene only edges out Elayne because of her ability to Dreamwalk. But this chick Elayne can mass supply Dream Ter'angreal. I know it's a channeling related ability but when talking about the most powerful people in the series, the ability to make Ter'angreal should be considered to be a huge plus for Elayne.

I think that Lanfear should be higher. For one thing, she at least had the political influence of a low ranking noble. Also, she caused the bore in the dark one's prison which affected the story at least equal to Rand. I think Mat should be bumped up on political influence because he had some control over the continent of Seanchan.
I came up with a theory about cadusane that I haven’t seen elsewhere when I tried to verify it. I think cadusane found a way to release herself from the 3 oaths. It’s implied or probably outright said that the oath rod limits lifespan. Yet cadusane seems to shock Aes Sedai who believe she should have died long ago. Funny on my last read which is well over a dozen, well probably 5 or 6 since the final book came out, I noticed this and a nice little Jaws reference. You pick up something new every time you read it.
I actually think Perrin should get points in the Channeling category. While he can't channel, while in the dream he is basically immune and can even deflect weaves. I'm not saying he should be highly scored in that category, but that it should be at least noted within that category. Also fighting ability should have been higher. While yes there are better fighters as far a skill, the fact that Perrin can essentially teleport everywhere and in the flesh makes him extremely powerful. Why with a bow and teleportation he could literally assassinate anyone not consciously defending themselves with the one power. Without the one power no one no matter how skilled would likely survive a fight with him. Shift. Hammer Fall. Shift. arrow. Shift. Drop a bolder. Shift arrow. Shift. Shift. Shift. Shift. He'd be insane!
I wish so much that perrin and mat were higher because they are so dangerous and effective... but given the criteria that you laid out, I understand completely why they were in the spots they were. Not being able to channel takes them out of a whole category.
I have always wondered if Lanfear was truely on the Shadows side or if she was contaminated by the dark one's power when she helped bore into his prison. How many of the Forsaken were there or was it only her and the others went to the Shadow by choice? Did any of the other scientists who helped make the bore go over to the Shadow (the Forsaken were the 13 most powerful of the Aes Sedai who went over to the Shadow, not all of them: eg. the dreadlords)? Questions? Comments? Inqueritive remarks?
I was interested in the theory of Rand at the very end. Is he like Neo, the One, and can just kinda do whatever his mind wants now? Like, he doesn’t have the Power anymore but he has Creator-like abilities and can light a pipe with just his mind?
Regarding elaine’s effectiveness at bathing I would argue that she is completely ineffective because she keeps getting interrupted and having to stop bathing and deal with politics. I guess that would make her more effective at politics though.
Agree, I had to stop the vid, and ask what da F, at a screen for a few min. That power if had been used in Jordan style would have been very OP. I didn't care for Brandon's writing as much, glad it was finished, but just not the same.

Using his criteria I only came up with a 23 for Tuon (4+10+4+14+1) his number 15 has a 31, you could argue that there is too much weight given to Channeling but personally I like it.
Seems like true power and Angreal Sa'Angreal are kind of omitted in effect, the true power puts Rand and Moradin atop even Ravine with a totally additional and foreign channeling that other channeler struggle to address.
@Nae'Blis... Not sure how you are implementing till what book we have read feature. But I have a suggestion for that. It might be tough to implement it though. A user's account can have a stat that they choose. *Till Which book they have read*. Depending on that the wiki can be implemented to auto-hide stuff for that user. And maybe some of the descriptions in maps too. Like what happened at this place, in 1st book, or in 10th book. Will need to have a tag for map descriptions and events I would guess
Why did you have to go and make it so complicated :) i guess how you rank them depends on what you think actual power is. Eggy is way too high imo, Gran is way too low. Love the lists man keep up the great content, most of us just speak from the heart on these, the attempt to actually look at it objectively is fresh, but the results don't equate to my head cannon so it has to be wrong :) lol
I know he didn't fit your criteria well, but I was hoping to see the great tease of the Wheel of Time: the Green Man. As I read Jordan's stories the first time, I wanted to see a character with lesser aspects of the Green Man's power (the child of Green Man?) (S)He might have lived among Ogier as they care for the earth and flora.

I really like the idea of a rubric!！That was a really good idea for grading fairly. However I have major problems with the categories and how they're structured haha ， oh and also how you scored some of them. definitely sparked a lot of thought and interest so great job there! How do you give old ladies and young women get a 1 in fighting though!!! How do Elayne and Cadasune not get a 0 here haha, who does then? It's basically a free point for every non fighter but every non channeler is penalized. Egwene even gets a 2, who or what could she beat? How does N'nynave not get a 5 for effectiveness? The special abilities categories is very problematic, seems to be a lot of combined things that are kinda murky, like I'm not exactly sure how Rand or Morridin get 15 here. Effectiveness is also really weird in that you have to be successful to be effective. Again I want to say thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it.
I'm not a massive Elayne fan, but should probably should have gotten a bump for a level or two, for the ability to create Ter'angreal. Rand should have been maybe a 14 for fighting. I don't think he would have beat Lan or Demandred without the second hand.
Honestly I think that this system seriously undervalues elements of power. For example I think political power should likely have been given a higher point value than channeling for instance. Tuon is a good example. She essentially for all practical purposes can't channel but she has the ability to call to arms the entire channeling capacity of the Seanchan which has got to be WAY more potent as a combined effect than any given channeler even a crazy strong one. I would say similar effects would apply to pretty much anyone who holds the title of Amyrlin Seat. I'm not 100% sure if that is a symptom of over-valuing personal channeling strength or undervaluing the power of politically controlling large numbers of channelers but I feel it's one or the other.
Isn't it said that while woman are naturally more dexterous than men, that men with training can learn that level of dexterity? I thought I had read that in one of the books.
Did you rank Tuon? I feel like she should be on here. She’s the Empress, has total control over all Seanchan and those that have taken the vows, attack on the white tower, has a literal air force, master in hand to hand combat, married to Mat, etc…
great video and research. i would like to add if we were to rank the list as a one on one battle to death perrin would be number 1. ignoring his strength and hammer bashing power, he can instantly take anyone regardless of their channeling ability straight to the wolf dream and keep them from leaving making easy work of them. on top of that because in this scenario he takes the subjects in flesh killing them would completely remove them from the pattern and it would have the effect of balefire as in the forsaken as an example would not be able to come back. kinda sad he figured it all out too late cus if he had a different personality and knew these from lets say book 7 there wouldnt be a book 8 never mind 14.
I feel the list of powers should be one list. Perrin is supremely powerful but scored low because he can’t channel. Which isn’t really indicative of his strength.
The power channelers get in that category is due to the power being something most people (often even other channelers) can't stop. Mat actually negates that power form the others that can channel. I think this is suppressing his real value in your ranking. It is almost as if it should be a ratio for him of points vs. points possible where the channeling points are not added to his points possible. Mat has SHOWN himself to be more powerful than Nynaeve.
Not necessarily immune, the medallion only unravels direct weaves, so the wearer is vulnerable to projectiles (using air to fling a rock) or gravity (destroying the ground underneath), not to mention other creative indirect ways that I can't think of right now. Matt should be higher I agree, but he'd probably lose against a blade master, especially Demandred imo

I don't know if he would lose to a blade master, but early in his development he was able to defend against them. He defended pretty well and showed Elayne's brothers a thing or two. And he got MUCH better later.

I think he would have a good chance against a blade master given his luck and his fighting experience from previous ages, but any blade master that could channel would be quite likely to beat him imo, much like Galad vs. Demandred. However, Mat has a better chance due to his luck, especially if the fight played out similarly. Galad almost killed Demandred, if it wasn't for the muscle in his arm tearing, which probably wouldn't happen for Mat on account of his luck.

Kyle Eisenhauer Gawyn and Galad are extremely weak since they cannot channel. Nearly any channeler can beat mat though. The only way he can beat a channeler is if the channeler is very weak in the power, or plot armor. To be fair, Mat does have canon plot armor since he is ta’veren, but if we use the ta’veren argument there is little point in arguing to begin with since anything can happen.
@@kyleeisenhauer5501 Matt died two or three times through the series, a wall dropped on him from Trollocs and Dark Hounds poisoned him. He survived two deaths because of Balefire and healing. And his medallion doesn't block all channeling, it blocks direct touch of the Weave, but it hasn't been confirmed to block the true power and Aes Sedai discover they can just channel things at him. It's nothing for a Channeler to pile up earth on him or surround him in an inferno and cook him, and that doesn't include Angreal and SaAngreal which could drop cities and shatter the planet, or reality.

Great list...though I feel Nynaeve should have full mark for effectiveness for helping with both the cleansing and the sealing of the bore, but it's one point so doesn't matter that much.

Great scale. I do think you should bump Nynaeve up though on Effectiveness. She healed Stilling / Madness, closed the bore into the Dark One's prison. I mean those alone should give her a five. No one else could do this or they would have.
I didn't hear you mention Elayne's ability to make ter'angreal and eventually from Rand's gift the ability to make angreal and sa'angreal which is pretty monumental.

I'm curious where Tuon falls in your ranking. I think she'd get full points for political power, high points for hand to hand combat, I think she'd get pretty highly ranked for special skills and objects as well as she's a sul'dam, controlling channelers and has access to some objects of power.
She would be on the lower end of channeling (1 I think) but yeah otherwise the Empress, may she live forever, should be quite high on this list.
Tuon (4+10+4+14+1=) 23 (the 14 might be arguable but I feel that her access to Min and effectiveness in the Last Battle makes it pretty strong.)
Lanfear saved rand and released the dark one. I would call it pretty effective
She also quite literally would have become the supreme ruler of everything everywhere had it not been for the extreeemely specific circumstances in Perin's life, which allowed him to break control. I would give her a 4 for effectiveness, only not a 5 because of her temper. Choosing not to help the Shadow is not the same as being incapable of it. It denounces intent, not effectiveness.
The passing of Egwene in the final battle was the most moving moment. That was the turning point of the battle. It was masterfully written.
I feel like it cannot be denied that the biggest turning point is the death of Demandred tbh. Yes, Egwene was important, but Demandred was BY FAR the most important asset on the battlefield.

The thing with mat is we dont know how much the pattern is helping him during the war and how much is his strength/skill. Supposedly once the war is over Mats luck would drastically lower as the pattern is no longer edging the odds. Mind you he would still be incredibly lucky but not as lucky as before. (Instead of winning 999/1000 he would win 9/10)
Perrin should be number 1 since he can take people into the world of dreams and then essentially do whatever the fuck he wants with them.

Im not quite sure I totally agree with your ranking system, i think it penalises both Perrin and Mat for not being able to channel and i think you may be under rating there power of being Ta’veran. I’m not sure Nynaeve should be higher than them.

Ben van Riemsdijk Being able to channel doesn’t make you immune to being killed by it, I actually think that being Ta’Veran is more powerful than being able to channel, and that is how the Forsaken were defeated when on paper they probably should have held all the cards.
It basically come down to 13 Forsaken v 3 Ta’veran, only one of whom could channel at the summit with everyone else in the supporting cast for either side.

Its a toss up between Damer Flinn and Nynaeve for #1. Semirhage at 3. Corele at 4. Romanda at 5, but only because she's the last one I remember. Unless we count psychiatry then I'd put Graendal in there somewhere too.

How exactly does Nynaeve hold power, that isn't just saidar? She accomplishes a lot, but she ain't no continental-wide ruler. And knowledge of herbs doesn't really compare to being a wolfbrother, a tavaren, having tons of ancient knowledge or being a dreamworld savant.

Yeah that alone probably took out 1/4 of the forces of the light given how bad they described a lot of the casualty rates when things started going wrong. Not to mention how morally crippling that was. Plus having Mat required to single handedly command the forces of the light rather than having strong generals they could trust to manage different areas.
And then her successfully faking her own death and taking out Asmodean.
I also would have thought Tuon would have also made the list. She controls the Seanchan empire on Randland. Her power is almost absolute.
Tuon also has the ability to channel, though she is not trained. Empress Fortuona is indisputably the most powerful person politically on the planet, save only for the Dragon Reborn himself. And after he 'dies', she is without peer.
She is the absolute ruler of half a continent, who will begin reconquest of another continent.

Elayne has all of Andor, The Two Rivers, Cairhien under her rule. The Black Tower gives it's support to Andor. And she also has the Kinswomen and on top of that she has the Dragons.
@@togblink726 The dragons aren't really a point in Andor's favor longterm, though. As soon as new, superior innovations are brought to the battlefield, it doesn't take much time for everyone else to copy them. Historically, that has held true for everything from horse chariots to submarines.
Elayne may be even more powerful than this though. She is practically in charge of a huge alliance of nations beyond Andor and Cairhien that could easily make a united front towards the Sean'Chan

Another great video! The effort you put into your latest videos is simply astounding, so thank you, mister. I feel like no WOT fan with a heart and soul can argue about that.
That said, I do have a few issues with some of the rankings. My general feeling is that channelers get an unfair advantage, as from the beginning of the series we have characters, who in my opinion are quite powerful and essential for the events in the books for their leadership and political skill, and influence on the main characters, even without any channeling. As an example for an unduly high ranked channeling character, I can easily point out to my girl Nyneave. She’s one of my personal favourites, but I don’t feel like she truly can be ranked as more powerful than either Mat or Perrin (or even Tuon or Mazrim Taim, for that matter). Yes, sure, she’s accomplished a lot in terms of her channeling abilities. She has great feats under her belt, but they all revolve around channeling or personal growth. And I can accept that the argument of her having healed madness has a significant impact in the last battle in regards to the forces of The Black Tower. But her having healed stilling has only two notable cases within the books - Logain and Siuan, and even those could’ve been healed a bit later by Damar Flyn. She gets a lot of “screen time” and a wonderful character arch, which I think would easily make one see her as more significant and thus powerful, but the two aren’t synonymous. Even if we disregard the political influence they have and the armies they control (which are far superior than anything Nyneave has access to), both Emond’s Field sidekicks could kick her ass. Perrin could easily transport Nyneave into the world of dreams, where she’d be like a kitten against a wolf :D And Mat with his medallion can just knock her on the head with a stick even in the physical world :D
I think that narrowing down the exact meaning of “powerful” and expanding the “effectiveness” category to say 15 could even out the field a little bit and reorder some of the character rankings. In this way, we could see characters like Tuon, Logain, Elaida, Moiraine, Mazrim Taim, Thom, Sorilea, Davram Bashere and so on the list.
For political influence consider that she is effectively the Aes Sedai Advisor of the Queen of Andor and Cairhien, a close personal (although unofficial) Advisor of the Amyrlin Seat (Egwene), and Queen of Malkier (the acknowledged leaders of the entire Boarderlands), seems fairly influential to me.
@@stevenroetzel4470and more importantly, she gives Lan the motivation to live after Moraine, and motivates his ride to Tarwin’s Gap. Lan taking Demandred off the board was a game changer, and Nynaeve deserves partial credit for that.

I love the amount of thought you've put into this and I agree with the vast majority of everything you laid down! I do take a slight issue with your ranking of Nynaeve's Effectiveness at a 4. The woman cleansed the Taint on Saidin and helped Rand reseal the Bore itself! The only person to do as much for the survival of the world (and the Pattern) was Rand al'Thor.

I love Cadsuane, Demandred and Lanfear is interesting because her actions have helped Side of Light more than Shadow... But, her intention was considered by the Wheel. Wheel knew all her surface benevolence was motivated by Shadow sworn side of her... So Wheel was never fooled about her motivations... But I would have liked her having regret and Love triumphing inside her with chance for her soul to restart once more.
Demandred is magnificent but also foolish. Ah, these minor Flaws turning the tides of Major events !!
I am on Egwene now and I like her thirst for Knowledge and her desire to earn her place rising as high as she can. She is very much like Arjuna from Indian Epic of Mahabharata for this Quality. I love Egwene 🙂
I think Elayne's ability to make Ter'angreal should be included in the non channeling department.
Since it's essentially one of the most OP ability in the series.
Egwene only edges out Elayne because of her ability to Dreamwalk. But this chick Elayne can mass supply Dream Ter'angreal.
I know it's a channeling related ability but when talking about the most powerful people in the series, the ability to make Ter'angreal should be considered to be a huge plus for Elayne.

I think that Lanfear should be higher. For one thing, she at least had the political influence of a low ranking noble. Also, she caused the bore in the dark one's prison which affected the story at least equal to Rand. I think Mat should be bumped up on political influence because he had some control over the continent of Seanchan.
I came up with a theory about cadusane that I haven’t seen elsewhere when I tried to verify it. I think cadusane found a way to release herself from the 3 oaths. It’s implied or probably outright said that the oath rod limits lifespan. Yet cadusane seems to shock Aes Sedai who believe she should have died long ago.
Funny on my last read which is well over a dozen, well probably 5 or 6 since the final book came out, I noticed this and a nice little Jaws reference. You pick up something new every time you read it.
I actually think Perrin should get points in the Channeling category. While he can't channel, while in the dream he is basically immune and can even deflect weaves. I'm not saying he should be highly scored in that category, but that it should be at least noted within that category.
Also fighting ability should have been higher. While yes there are better fighters as far a skill, the fact that Perrin can essentially teleport everywhere and in the flesh makes him extremely powerful. Why with a bow and teleportation he could literally assassinate anyone not consciously defending themselves with the one power. Without the one power no one no matter how skilled would likely survive a fight with him. Shift. Hammer Fall. Shift. arrow. Shift. Drop a bolder. Shift arrow. Shift. Shift. Shift. Shift. He'd be insane!

I have always wondered if Lanfear was truely on the Shadows side or if she was contaminated by the dark one's power when she helped bore into his prison. How many of the Forsaken were there or was it only her and the others went to the Shadow by choice? Did any of the other scientists who helped make the bore go over to the Shadow (the Forsaken were the 13 most powerful of the Aes Sedai who went over to the Shadow, not all of them: eg. the dreadlords)?

Using his criteria I only came up with a 23 for Tuon (4+10+4+14+1) his number 15 has a 31, you could argue that there is too much weight given to Channeling but personally I like it.

Not sure how you are implementing till what book we have read feature. But I have a suggestion for that. It might be tough to implement it though.
A user's account can have a stat that they choose. *Till Which book they have read*. Depending on that the wiki can be implemented to auto-hide stuff for that user.
And maybe some of the descriptions in maps too. Like what happened at this place, in 1st book, or in 10th book. Will need to have a tag for map descriptions and events I would guess

I really like the idea of a rubric!！That was a really good idea for grading fairly. However I have major problems with the categories and how they're structured haha ， oh and also how you scored some of them. definitely sparked a lot of thought and interest so great job there! How do you give old ladies and young women get a 1 in fighting though!!! How do Elayne and Cadasune not get a 0 here haha, who does then? It's basically a free point for every non fighter but every non channeler is penalized. Egwene even gets a 2, who or what could she beat? How does N'nynave not get a 5 for effectiveness? The special abilities categories is very problematic, seems to be a lot of combined things that are kinda murky, like I'm not exactly sure how Rand or Morridin get 15 here. Effectiveness is also really weird in that you have to be successful to be effective. Again I want to say thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it.

Tuon should fit in there somewhere just by the number of channelers she leads and the size of her army.
I'm not a massive Elayne fan, but should probably should have gotten a bump for a level or two, for the ability to create Ter'angreal. Rand should have been maybe a 14 for fighting. I don't think he would have beat Lan or Demandred without the second hand.

Honestly I think that this system seriously undervalues elements of power. For example I think political power should likely have been given a higher point value than channeling for instance. Tuon is a good example. She essentially for all practical purposes can't channel but she has the ability to call to arms the entire channeling capacity of the Seanchan which has got to be WAY more potent as a combined effect than any given channeler even a crazy strong one. I would say similar effects would apply to pretty much anyone who holds the title of Amyrlin Seat. I'm not 100% sure if that is a symptom of over-valuing personal channeling strength or undervaluing the power of politically controlling large numbers of channelers but I feel it's one or the other.

great video and research. i would like to add if we were to rank the list as a one on one battle to death perrin would be number 1. ignoring his strength and hammer bashing power, he can instantly take anyone regardless of their channeling ability straight to the wolf dream and keep them from leaving making easy work of them. on top of that because in this scenario he takes the subjects in flesh killing them would completely remove them from the pattern and it would have the effect of balefire as in the forsaken as an example would not be able to come back.

I feel the list of powers should be one list. Perrin is supremely powerful but scored low because he can’t channel. Which isn’t really indicative of his strength.
The power channelers get in that category is due to the power being something most people (often even other channelers) can't stop. Mat actually negates that power form the others that can channel. I think this is suppressing his real value in your ranking. It is almost as if it should be a ratio for him of points vs. points possible where the channeling points are not added to his points possible. Mat has SHOWN himself to be more powerful than Nynaeve.
Not necessarily immune, the medallion only unravels direct weaves, so the wearer is vulnerable to projectiles (using air to fling a rock) or gravity (destroying the ground underneath), not to mention other creative indirect ways that I can't think of right now. Matt should be higher I agree, but he'd probably lose against a blade master, especially Demandred imo
@@adufresne1 true about the one power on Mat. Though he wields that pretty effectively. I don't know if he would lose to a blade master, but early in his development he was able to defend against them. He defended pretty well and showed Elayne's brothers a thing or two. And he got MUCH better later.
@@billnolte8644 Galad and Gawyn weren't blade masters at that point. I think he would have a good chance against a blade master given his luck and his fighting experience from previous ages, but any blade master that could channel would be quite likely to beat him imo, much like Galad vs. Demandred. However, Mat has a better chance due to his luck, especially if the fight played out similarly. Galad almost killed Demandred, if it wasn't for the muscle in his arm tearing, which probably wouldn't happen for Mat on account of his luck.
