    Thanks for the video. One pro tip I found was that you don't need to bother crimping or taping the wire to the rope to pull through. The steering guides go all the way through. I just pulled the rope out and pushed the wire through with no issues.

    Awesome, I was wondering how to change the cords on the rudder. They are fine right now but sooner or later they are going to break, so it seems like a good idea to replace them before they do. I have a Pryml Titan but this looks like it will work the same way.

    Awesome video man. Going to do this to my sg130 soon. That was going to be my project for this year since last year was my fish finder install. You earned a new sub!

      @@PureFishermenTV will do man, also did you get all of those things (berkley stuff) from a home depot or something similar?

      Unfortunately, I could not find it at my local bass pro/home depot so I had to buy on amazon. Real cheap stuff tho. I linked them in the description for ya.

    All I did was thread the nylon coated wire along the original rudder control line....very easy and no need to crimp the lines together.....after I pushed the wire all the way through I then continued with the rest of the process.

    This should help the rudder work properly? I recently bought a used sea ghost 110 and it seems you have to really push the pedals to get the rudder to barley move. This is a great idea using the coated cable vs the robe it comes with. Thanks and keep up the good work 🤘🤘🤘

    Where's the best place to buy that nylon wire ? Amazon worth it?

    Why replace the nearly unbreakable paracord with a steel cable that will undoubtedly rust and break over time? I've replaced stainless lines twice and going to a braided line is an upgrade lol. Never going back to cables.

      I used Jagwire Slick MTB brake cables with lined housings for my first build. 10 years and they were still holding up well. Definitely don’t skimp on the cables. My new setup is with 500lb test zero stretch monoline, see how it holds up.

  • @Z33Garage

    So what are the odds these cables SAW through the plastic on the kayak? vs using 550 paracord to make new lines?

  • @n8_sh00ts8

    Only thing I'd worry about with putting a metal wire there is that it's rubbing on the plastic where it attaches to the rudder.

    Thanks for the video. I just bought this kayak myself. Have you tried standing in it? just curies how stable it is.

      Pete's Fishing Adventures You’re welcome, hope it helped. And nice purchase! I have stood up on it in calmer waters and it’s plenty stable for me when casting and rippin lips (I’m 5’9” 180lbs). It’s a bit tricky to get up and down at first, but just takes some getting used to

    Great and simple video. Did you also replace your rudder deployment cable?

    • @PureFishermenTV
      @PureFishermenTV  5 лет назад +1

      thanks. I thought about it, but then decided not to because my hand would be grabbing that, so I stuck with the original bungee cable

      Vinnie G. I have a 2016 sg and it’s the same small paracord that’s used for the rudder. Vibe must use a different stick cord now.

      Yeah that’s a possibility. Mine is a 2018 so I have no idea what they are doing on the newest release

    Have you had any issues with the steel wire cutting into the kayak?

    • @PureFishermenTV
      @PureFishermenTV  4 года назад

      No I haven’t. The coating on the wire has protected it, but I could see that coating begin to ware off in another year or so

    Can 3d printer 4mm ptfe bowden tubes be used for rudder cable tubes. Inside diameter i 2mm.

      @@PureFishermenTV I found this. PTFE’s low friction lends itself to plain bearings, gears, slide plates, and other applications with sliding action of parts, outperforming both acetal and nylon in these functions. PTFE makes longer-lasting, higher-performance parts that reduce friction, wear, and energy consumption of machinery, lower maintenance costs, and increase the lifetime of both parts and machinery.
      Due to its high temperature rating and extreme non-reactivity, PTFE is often used as containers, expansion joints, liners in hose assemblies, industrial pipelines, and other applications involving corrosive and reactive chemicals.
      It's also hydrophobic where's nylon collect some water and lose strength over time.

      @@PureFishermenTV I think it would work. It's very wear resistant and flexible enough. When my 3d printer filament rub against regular plastic it wears down fast. With pfte I don't notice wear at all.
