  • In this video I show you how I finish a sandblasted pipe and then proceed to make a ring out of Ivorite. It’s a quick overview, and I can go into more detail in the future. While, I set out to finish the pipe entirely for this video, I didn’t quite get to the mouthpiece. So, that just provides an opportunity to make another video in which I make the mouthpiece. Thanks for tuning in, and let me know what you’d like to see in future videos. Thanks for watching!

      Cesar Lopes thanks. If things keep going in the current direction, maybe I’ll be able to trade it for a roll of toilet paper. 😂

    Home 9 days now. Ordered a couple hobby blocks. When this is over I’m getting a lathe. Wish had it all now. :) I see you’re in San Diego.. Santa Barbara here. Gorgeous pipes. Went and saw many of yours. Amazing.

    Nice video and very informative!. Wondering what you are using to seal the color/dye on the sandblast, so it won't be rubbing off?

    Hi Man! Great videos. I have a question for you. Thé tools you use on the lathe for ebonite turning, are in hss made? When i turn the ébonite, i spend all my time on grinding m'y tools. Thanks for answer. Ciao from Italy

    • @jalanpipes
      @jalanpipes  2 года назад +1

      That is correct. Grinding the correct shapes and angles is important to get smooth cuts. And ebonite is very abrasive, so you will need to resharpen often, unfortunately.

    What is used for the adhesive to attach the “ivory” to the briar? Will the Ivory thermally expand and shrink back on the briar to not need adhesive?

    • @jalanpipes
      @jalanpipes  2 года назад

      I always use a two part epoxy to secure the rings. It's very strong, and has enough flexibility to manage minor material expansion and contraction.
