- The early 16th century is a time that experts argue over when exactly the medieval era ended and the renaissance took its first footsteps. For most people who aren't familiar with this time period, the dress that I am making will most likely look pretty medieval. For those more familiar with English history, this period is at the time of the rule of the Tudor king, Henry VIII. This dress was made in the 1520s for the Hungarian Queen and granddaughter of Maximilian I, Holy Roman emperor. I have been so excited to recreate this extant garment. I tried my best to make it as historically accurate as possible, but I admit budget did get in the way sometimes. I also sport a 14th century medieval dress in this vid which is def not from the same time, but its fun so...
Here it the website I got the gowns measurements from:

She has a duckling, a pretty dress, and an application. She IS a Disney princess.
“Historical clothing and my imagination connect me to the bigger picture of humanity” ❤️❤️❤️
Ikr!!
Is is completely stunning and amazing to see how the silk shins when you walk. I love to imagine how a ballroom or royal court would look with dozens of fine ladies adorned with silk gowns.
Also I believe the embroidery on the shift is called smocking and is a special type of hand embroidery used to hold pleats together.
Oh yeah! I think I’ve heard of that before! And yes I too would love to see a beautiful ballroom filled with beautiful gowns😭
OMG QUEEN! I recently discovered this dress in a book and fell in love, it's so cool how it's survived until now! The gown looks wonderful on you!
Ooh thank you! What book? I would very much like to know!
@@iamvictoriarae It's very briefly mentioned in The Queen's Servants by TheTudorTailor!
@@alisonmarko6568 I have got to get that book!
This is absolutely gorgeous! You have outdone yourself. I'm right there with you with learning most sewing stuff off RUclips. I haven't sewn anything yet, but I'm gathering the courage! Bernadette Banner, Michara Tewers, and you are my favorites for seeing the chaotic reality of sewing. Keep up the stunning work!
Thank you so much! I really try to show my chaos!
The dress turned out beautifully! Now about the cost of fabric: you might want to look at thrift stores, Sheets, curtains, tablecloths are always an option. You also might want to check out online line stores. I hope this helps. Happy sewing journeys and Blessings to All.
The dress is beautiful and I love the colours. I would have liked a closer peek at the embroidery on the gathering because I have no idea how to do that.
man, I wish I wasn't so broke, this got me in the mood to make something absolutely gorgeous and I don't have the fabric for it!
The dress turned out absolutely gorgeous, and that shade of green looks beautiful on you!
Thank you! And I hope you come into money soon so you can make gorgeous things
Fantastic!! Just stunning! Congratulations on the completion of this gown. I struggle finishing garments I start to construct.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your video about historically accurate Snow White. This dress is gorgeous! Congratulations :)
I have always liked this "Medieval Renaissance" 😂 dress, and yours is very gorgeous, I hope to be able to make something like that someday ❤️👌
Thank you! I hope you do to!
That gown IS STUNNING. Lovely colour. Well done young lady xx
I love the result! Disney should made a film based on that beautiful green dress. You sewed it perfectly! 😍
They totally should’ve! And thank you!!!
Amazingly done work! I love how you went with cartridge pleating on most of the shift because that's some dedication lol. It stayed (to haunt us) for a good while but it gives such neat, pretty pleats, I can't hate it. Even if it takes an age to do. Really well done.
I absolutely love your attitude towards fashion, history, and life in general! ^.^ The dress is absolutely gorgeous!!! 💚🤩💚🎀
Come for the historical dress, stay for the medieval dance vibes
Can’t stop the medieval dancing
@@iamvictoriarae let the lute times roll
first: the dress turned out beautifully!!
second: ...that was Balboa Park, right? I'm not from the area so for a minute I didn't know why the arches behind you were giving me SO MUCH deja vu but then i remembered my family and i visited years ago and it was literally *so* pretty there.
Thank you!
And hellz yeah thats Balboa Park! Gotta luv that gorgeous place
Oooh! So shiny and beautiful! Good job!

The dress is really pretty, I'm very glad you finished it. I love it. I love the shift too, & thank you -I've been looking for the perfect shift for a gift.. "}
You're like Micarah Tewers medieval version(? Great videoooo!!
This is the best compliment💗
But also strong Corinne Leigh/ Threadbanger vibes.
Fun video! Lots of work to make this dress. I'm so sorry you didn't have enough fabric. Your work is beautiful and your commitment to completing the dress is highly commendable. Thank you for posting this! I truly enjoyed watching it.
nice work, girl. I love this renaissance queen of beautiful Hungary, the first country where the renaissance was introduced after the Italian citystates
the feeling of connected to the past is also in our very dna! the memories literally get passed down through our bodies
The ✨medieval vibes✨ are immaculate

If Mary of Hapsburg tailor had flannel, you’d better believe she’d use it!
I used to have acne exactly like her. Now at 35 years old it finally went away. She's super pretty. 😍😍😍
Recently archaeologists were poking around in a medieval castle in Germany and found a stash of discarded linen garments. Among them was what resembled a bra carbon dated to the 13th century. Whether this was a one off or there were more widespread breast support garments remains to be seen.
I adore Mary of Hungary and her predecessor Margarethe of Austria. Both strong women being governor of The Burgundian Netherlands. 😍 Girlpower in the early Renaissance.
I am two minutes into this video and I just need to say that you are so gorgeous and absolutely adorable.
Thank you so much!!!
this is amazing
The fashion historical police are not real?? Why did no one tell me??
The gown looks glorious. Superb.
5:27 I feel attacked... mainly because it's true 🥲
Did she just do the smocking pleating by hand!!!!! Lol, sorry, just in shock, I know it was done by hand back then but my mom's hobby is smocking and I grew up watching her use a pleating machine so I was like "what! You can do it by hand, lol", completely forgetting that the machine didn't exist back then, lol
hi this is so cool!!!!
Wow!!!
🙂
