  • I go over little known and not discussed Tuning Secrets, and Accurizing of the Air Arms TX200 air rifle. Not a step by step by step how to lube and grease a spring and guide, but info for those with this knowledge already.
Note: At 4.49 - I should have said barrel to compression chamber recess contact area.

save your self time theres no tuning in this video just a few custom parts that do nothing for acuracy ,or smoothness

A refined firing sequence by fitting better quality aftermarket parts makes for a much nicer rifle to shoot.

How did your accuracy and performance change with your modifications, would love to see a video on it.

    Hello Kevin,
Thank you for a really interesting video on your Air Arms TX200.
May I politely say with a great deal of admiration, you have fantastic engineering knowledge, and I love your will, drive, and determination to see your air rifle work so much better.
If I had your knowledge and means, I'd be interested to do what you are doing too. It looks to me like you are making trying to make your air rifle work and function as perfectly as possible. I think for a company to produce what you are achieving there would be extremely tough.
If I may also politely say here, it's as though in a manner of speaking, you are making a five mile journey out of a one mile journey..
Most people wouldn't do that in this day and age. However, what absolute pleasure you'll get when shooting your air rifle with all those anomalies you've identified, understood, and fettled.
I take my hat off to you, and thank you for showing us your mindset and what you've achieved.
It's a really great video and education. Thank you very much.

You could use a tuning-kit from TBT tuning UK 🇬🇧 much better then using a steel Top-hat it's basically plastic and you can get a Spring-guide plus power washers if required , nice video 🍻 cheers

I hear they're a 2 piece main spring guide which doesn't bode well for durability.

@alarmactionuk alarmactionuk Well I repaired a TX200 a few days ago , had not been touched from new, stripped it down the spring guide was very loose and the Steel top hat far to heavy .hence the replacement tuning kit TBT , Welsh Willy , or V- mach kits all excellent , with TBT you can contact them and they will Size the kit for you , to requirements .

No, incorrect, 2piece is more reliable, that's why Nick changed from the one Piece, watch his vids, he gives you the percentage failure rate of each.

How did the accuracy change? That's the most important stuff!! I'm using a 22mm Skirtless Conversion just like Tony Leach kit in my TX HC. I'm a machinist so i did my own kit. There you have some real tuning. The only "secret tuning" you have done is to make gaps smaller. Nothing wrong but i'm not very impressed by the "secrets". What you have done is more like common sense among serious air gunners.

Pity they've used still too much crappy part and glue! For such an airrifle

This is the first time I've seen the breech lock up discussed in depth. My compression chamber peened the inner edges of my rifling over making inserting pellets difficult, better breech seals and cocking shoe are a must to stop the slide hammer action from causing damage. I have a v-mach kit fitted which eliminates metal guide rod and piston weight/ top hat, the rifle is very smooth but only delivers around 13ft lb. Not sure how to totally correct the lead into the rifling, i initially ran a small dremel stone around it to remove some of the burr but would like to have a professional chamfer cut. Any suggestions appreciated. On an interesting side note power was over 16ft lb and increasing as transfer port was moulding itself to the barrel and air volume was increasing. Great video by the way and wish you where here in Australia.

Wish you could go through and tune my TX200HC. Out of the box, is it normal for the cocking arm to rattle, that first easily seen joint? Wondering if some bearing grease would work for now, I wouldn't even know where to find shims.

I'm going to do a 2nd part soon to show this and more of how and why's of what I did. Most don't get these reasons. Its not to close gaps etc. but improve sealing of the power plant

Are you using this for HFT by chance? I just started working on the stock attachment bracket for mine. Using 303 sst. It's great being a machinist with my own equipment and 42 yrs of trade knowledge. What type sst did you make yours from?

I think 97 K is a better rifle! Can be tuned right to your prefarences ! Also cheaper to buy. German engineering at its best!
