I love how in GOW1 everyone underestimated Kratos, saying he as a mortal has no chance of defeating a god like Ares unless he has the Pandora box; but Kratos has managed to kill gods before, like the Furies and Persephone... 😂
Furies aren't gods but Persephone is. Still, they underestimated him with good reason. Literally any of the Gods would have bitch-slapped Kratos to death in his vanilla state - even as a demigod. Every game in the Greek Lands had Kratos being repeatedly carried over and over through the roster of Greek Mythological threats by his gear, weapons, artifacts, magical powers and the like that were given to him from external sources. And he STILL got killed 3 times and had to be resurrected by others/with help each time. By God of War 4, he'd regained his own personal power as a Greek God [of War] but almost all of his other wrapons, armour, relics/artifacts, powers and assorted magic were all depowered since all the different beings or sources that powered them were dead and thus, their works came undone... coz, y'know... Kratos killed them all.
Imagine if Atreus was able to see this backstory of Kratos all the way from childhood. What I wouldn't give to see the conversation that would happen afterwards between him and Kratos.
Ares: "you will become death itself" Kratos: kills both Thanatos and Hades, taking their place by controlling the souls of many beings, and also by setting the majority free. Also Kratos: becomes the death of Olympus itself Ares' main goal was to have an ultimate war, greater than all the wars that ever existed, and overthrowing Zeus as the ruler of Olympus... a goal Athena shared as well. Both the Gods of War received what they wanted, but not in the way they expected they would...
@@RecountDaFox1 but he took the blades away when he put kratos in that black hole of his. However he could have avoided his demise if he stay shut about the fact that he put kratos' family in the temple at Athens for him to kill. Could have shifted the blame on Athena or Zeus and used his anger to take down Olympus. Too bad Ares had to flaunt his "achievement"
NGL why is it when I read that I immediately thought of the Major from Hellsing Ultimate in similar light to Ares since by that logic they both only seek a glorious war.
@@drbladerz5530 The entire point of Ares putting Kratos' family in the temple was for the mortal to overcome his humanity and become a monster without empathy and for that Kratos had to know that the death of his family was intentionally done by his master. Alot of people think Ares was stupid for telling Kratos but think about it, Ares' entire goal is to create a mindless killing machine that will do ANYTHING he says, even killing their own family. Ares underestimated the power of being human and thats constantly brought up as the reason towards his death at the hands of a mortal. Ares even makes mocks Kratos's emotions and humanity over and over.
god i love the little details in these, like when at 6:00 Zeus almost killed the titans but in the last few frames you actually see them teleporting away.
The cronos cutscene was petrifying if you place yourself in Zeus's Mother's position. A scary, big man who is scared to die by the children you so birth and eats them and you're plotting against him with a rock while he's so close

Upon watching this in detail now, it all makes sense. Pay attention to detail when Kratos is finally about to kill Zeus, the flames of hope that fueled and never left Kratos spilled on to Zeus forcing the fear out of his body. In a deleted scene of Zeus's death, Zeus would realize his faults and apologize to Kratos. This would have been a remarkable twist to build on going on in the rest of the story.

I don't think he knew who it was but still him trying to fight anybody whose obviously older and probably more experienced than him is respectable no matter what
In actuality, even tho it wasn't explicitly stated, we should've known that different regions have different gods back in Chains of Olympus when the Persians invaded Greece and the gods united to tell Kratos he needed to stop their evil, meaning they had no jurisdiction over the Persians.. Never noticed before but I guess it's because that's one of the only ones I didn't play
I studied greek mythology ages ago, so what i might say could be slightly off, but, while it is true that different regions had different gods, they all would share their beliefs on one main group of gods, such are the gods of Mount Olympus. Now again i might be wrong so don't take it for granted.
It's an Irony indeed, that it's Kratos own Brother who marked him (the scar in his face) by only Irony if he killed him. . . .but Athena saved him as a good sister.

Amazing how Demos was able to keep such a strong athletic warrior figure & keep such nice armor & weapons during his enslaved & torment since his capture as child.
Kapi had theory about it, he said that deimos before being captured used to do bidding for ares just like kratos, but when ares realized he wasn't the marked one, ares disowned him and put him on prison while thanatos enjoying torturing him.

"WE are the strongest, if you challenge us, you ...willll.... looooooose....." cuts to next scene with Kratos impaling her with his blades... "YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME!! STOP YOU MONSTER!!"
When I watch it like that, I realise that in the end Ares kinda did win at the end. Kratos still did exactly what Ares wanted him to do as it was established in "Ascension". Ares tricking Kratos into killing his family established in Kratos's mind that there is a twisted deceiving nature in the releations between the olympians and humans, the furies's torture thoroughly made him hate the gods for that manipulative side to them only for Zeus to come along and just be the biggest dick****, killing his own son because he was afraid of him and didn't want to succeed him. Eventually leading to the massacre of the entire pantheon and destruction of all Greece
Imagine is Ares would have been a bit smarter and killed Kratos family in a way that put him against all of Olympus except him (playing the part of "I'm you only ally, they were afraid of what you and me could achieve), instead of going "derp... I'm going to make YOU kill them and then admit I was behind this hue hue brrrrr"

1:59:00 Zues, I'm 90% sure that Kratos never would've slaughtered all of Greece and Olympus if you weren't so paranoid to the point of killing Kratos. Zues, singlehandedly, destroyed himself by his rash betrayal.
He was consumed by one of the evils in Pandora's Box: *Fear!* That is why he was so paranoid. And when we find that out at the end... I dunno about you, but I regret EVERY SINGLE THING I did in both GOW 2 and 3...
I think thats due to the oath. He couldnt remember everything and once the oath was broken, by killing Orkos, it all came flooding back. Those are the nightmares he keeps pleading to have taken away. And the Gods breadcrumb him into thinking they will help with only to have Athena pull the "Well... technically we didnt promise that. We only promised to forgive your sins. Sorry about that."
Kratos had a heart but he seems like a killing machine to others while he is only blinded by his exploding flames of rage a wildfires Noone can put out but the one who couldn't stop at first and attempt it is rage
At that point he thought he was freed from his Oath and didn't have the nightmares yet, basically it was over and he could finally move on...and the Orkos dropped the bomb on him

The introduction of the primordials in the gow series was the best thing about ascension. How to power scale in gow demigods tho powerful are subpar to gods in any mythology in gow that explains why when they die there is no effect on the world like with hercules so it is confirmed i can't remember where that the most powerful demigods are either the ones who was born from the big three that being zeus, hades, poseidon or from a primordial and being that gods don't get weaker as they age and i hate when people say they do also a cool detail being the fight between baldur and kratos is basically it's an artistic representation of kratos now vs his younger self also evolution is a thing in gow like my hero academia where deku is able to do more creative things with his powers than all might do to generational evolution. This is my personal opinion on power ranking just aesir in gow 1.Thor 2.Odin 3.Baldur 4.Tyr 5. Heimdall Thor is number one for his superior strength and brutality that is greater than Odin. Odin not being as strong as thor is more wise and is more experienced in magic than his son.
Don’t put Magni too far out of the top 5. Mimir explained that they were pretty damn powerful. At Magni’s entrance Mimir seemed unaware if Kratos could handle him yet. And we don’t know any feats for Tyr or Heimdall yet. Magni and Modi are supposed to be able to wield Thor’s hammer and no other god was said to be able to lift it but Thor and Magni. No idea if that carries into GOW lore but when you stop to look at it, his name literally means “might”.
1:09:45 This scene. This single scene. The music, the input, and the stress are made as if it was some sort of combat you see always when confronting a boss or a very powerful enemy Yet, its just Kratos slightly pushing his daughter away. i remember playing god of war 3 without any knowledge of the first games besides the hydra boss and thinking why df is kratos so mad lmaoo. amazing franchise
Well this just proves how strong Kratos is Physically and Mentally and what he is willing to do to change the ways of all God's and if Athena ever returns hopefully Kratos has learned a new power just so he can stop her for good and Keep Atreus from going down a dark path too while Atreus is learning about his own powers as a God literally Kratos in the end does care about what happens to other races because other God's think they can do whatever they want with mortals and he's proving all of them wrong about how certain God's do things and he has the power to kill all of them

Ares: "you will become death itself"
Kratos: kills both Thanatos and Hades, taking their place by controlling the souls of many beings, and also by setting the majority free.
Also Kratos: becomes the death of Olympus itself
Ares' main goal was to have an ultimate war, greater than all the wars that ever existed, and overthrowing Zeus as the ruler of Olympus... a goal Athena shared as well. Both the Gods of War received what they wanted, but not in the way they expected they would...
That's Aries fault for giving him Blades that can hurt himself. Like, why would you give someone power that can even hurt you lol.

In a deleted scene of Zeus's death, Zeus would realize his faults and apologize to Kratos. This would have been a remarkable twist to build on going on in the rest of the story.

Orkos didn't deserve what happened to him. Rest in peace brother Orkos. You will be missed.
In actuality, even tho it wasn't explicitly stated, we should've known that different regions have different gods back in Chains of Olympus when the Persians invaded Greece and the gods united to tell Kratos he needed to stop their evil, meaning they had no jurisdiction over the Persians.. Even as a kid, Kratos already has his perpetually angry face.
The way kratos greeted orkos when returning to his home was very...humane.seemed like he still had his humanity and was not so full of rage yet.
