Problem being, without granny, the technique malfunctioned, so Toji could only act on instinct. With some time, he would had healed and regain control, and have a body that wouldn’t age, nor get tired. But he offed himself before letting himself hurt Megumi

The reason why Toji killed himself while he was fighting his son is because when the old lady summoned him, he had no will of his own and was just going after the strongest people, so after defeating Dagon (Lobster dude), he went after the strongest person after Dagon, which was his son, Megumi. After Toji was summoned, the entire time he said nothing and was just fighting, so while he was fighting his son, he realized that that was his son and then killed himself to prevent himself from killing his son, since he had no total control over his actions and thinking.
EDIT: Can't wait for part 2 with Sukuna.

TLDW on how gojo survived. there's reversed cursed technique (not well explained) that can heal people. it comes from the brain but they dont get how. since toji didnt kill gojo's brain he was still just alive and being on the brink of death it all clicked and now gojo can heal himself from pretty much anything
They do explain it, cursed energy is negative and by putting two negative amounts of your own cursed energy against each other you create positive energy and it can be used to heal, that's how RCT is made

Let me list out Gojo’s abilities for you:
- Limitless Barrier: The closer you get the farther away you are, so you literally can’t touch him normally
- Blue and Red: He controls attractive and repulsive forces, basically force push and pull on steroids
- Purple: Destroys matter(think Hakai from Beerus)
-RCT: Regeneration, if you don’t one shot him he can regenerate
-CT: Amplification of physical abilities
- Flight
-Six Eyes: Kind of like the Sharingan
-Domain Expansion: Practically Instakill
really no point in questioning how gojo survived if u havent watched it lol, answer is just cursed energy basically
"But wait how did they survive that" well, two sepparate reasons. Geto (pokemon summoning dude) is a summoner type sorcerer. He used some powers on Toji, and Toji knows his shit. Even though he fights without cursed energy, he knows all about how all the powers work, so he knows that a lot fo summoners set up some of their creations to feed off their own anger and frustration at death, becoming a powerful lingering curse on the one who kills them. So he beats Geto half to death but stops before killing him, mostly because it'd be a pain in the ass to deal with the fallout.
Gojo, on the other hand, learns how to say "screw the rules I have beautiful eyes." He'd been trying to figure out "curse energy reversal" the entire time, the technique to heal using cursed energy that is stupid rare and hard to understand. While he was dying from the asswhooping Geto gave him he finally realized how to do it, so he healed himself.
