  • I always liked the Saturn Sky Redline headlight housings with them being blacked out inside. Well, I finally had an opportunity to purchase two housings and swap out my base chrome ones with the Redline ones.
This video will show you just how easy it is to swap them out.

Great tutorial as usual, on the white and silver cars I think the clear headlights lol the best… on the darker colors the smoke Redline lights look good..

You should consider a ddm works short shifter
I just installed one yesterday in my gxp and can't believe the difference
I think you would really like it

Thanks Jeff. I've been considering the short shifter, but since our tranny is a bit notchy, I wasn't sure if the short shifter would make it worse.

Thanks John. There's a guy I know who also has a midnight blue Sky. He actually took his headlight housing apart and painted the chrome area the same midnight blue as his exterior. It actually looks good from the one photo that I saw. But that's the beauty of our cars. They are so easy to modify and make them very personalized. And BTW, I love the midnight blue color :)

Actually, there was a guy who totaled his Redline in Texas and he was parting it out. I got them from him.

Hey Mike, i am looking to get a 2007 sky redline but im worried with the miles on it. it has 105k miles i have read these cars last well into their 200k miles before the engine really starts having problems especially if they are well kept. the one i found is in mint condition no scratches or really any major issues i can see/hear but wanted to ask someone who knows about the sky before i buy.

Hi Richard. Thanks for watching my channel. Here's my opinion about cars and mileage...and again...it's just my opinion. I like seeing cars with some miles on them. I'd feel more comfortable with an older car that has 80,000 on the odometer than 4,000. Just like humans, cars that sit have problems. If it's not stored properly, internal parts can rust. Seals can get brittle. And fluids can go bad. Cars are meant to be driven, not just sit and looked at. But again, that's my opinion. As for the Sky in particular. One of the major issues that I've read about (and luckily haven't had...knocking on wood) is the water pump. Lots of them have gone bad and need replaced. And it's not cheap or easy either. So if you do buy the car, try to get a warranty that would cover it. I've seen people with mileage as low as 36,000 and needed to get the pump replaced. Mine has 85,000 and so far so good (unless the previous owner changed it and I didn't know). The other main thing to look at is under both front fenders. Make sure that they are not cracked (they're made of some sort of plastic). A lot of times, when a garage lifts the car to change tires, brakes, or whatever, they won't use lift pucks. Instead they just let the weight of the car smash the bottoms of the fenders. And lastly, check the carfax and see if you can get maintenance records. I'm actually working on a video just for guys like you and will explain what to look for when buying a Sky or Solstice. So make sure you subscribe to the channel (unless you already have) so you'll know when it comes out.

If you're on a budget an SL2 or an old Toyota is better. I have a 2007 with 100K. Including shipping over the last 18 months including labor: I had a HVAC light go out 120$. Turn signal stopped automatically returning - that cost 430$, new spark-plugs and valve cover gasket 225$. Broken door handle 80$. Broken cup holder $250 (upgraded to aluminum). Replaced the scratched dash cluster: 300$. Right now the car need a seatbelt retainer $160. However, people come over to talk to me about the Sky car pretty often. Yeah. And you'll really like the acceleration of a Redline. An SL2 can't come close to matching that at all. Still the Sky gets 18MPH. The SL2 28MPG.
