Thank you for reviewing this! I could listen to this several times a day and never tire of it. To me the flow of both the music and the video is transfixing and mesmerizing, and the blending of sounds is genius. The body movements/dances just flow and fit perfectly. The throat-singing aspect sends shivers. Regarding the lyrics, the CC option is not available so I had to do some research. According to several sources, Ummet is throat-singing the names of ancient Turkic deities: Tengri, Kayra, Adaghan, Ulgan, Mergen, Kyzaghan, Umay, Kuara, Kubai, Koyash, Jak(ak) Ana, Ay Ata, Gun Ana, Yel Ana, Yel Ata... And last but not least, the ladies' beautiful smiles just make my day.

Artists from two Turkic tribes met here to make Turkic music with old Turkic instruments. I am Turkish (Türkiye) and understand everything that Ummet Özcan sings (he sings about ancient deities from Turkic mythology). I also understand some words that Otyken members sing, such as “dağlar” (mountains), even though both tribes have become geographically distant from each other over time. Their languages, which have the same origin, have also developed independently of one another. But the instruments that are played here are known to all Turkic peoples, such as the "ikili" which refers to the number 2 (iki = 2 also in Türkiye) because the instrument has 2 strings. The Turkish Bağlama/Saz is similar to the ikili but has 6 - 7 strings.
By the way, the area around the Altay Mountains is the original home of many Turkish tribes and Otyken (Ötüken) the legendary first capital of all Turks

Aaaah Ötüken !!! it is our ancestors homeland !! in our ancient scripts Ötüken depicted as ''sacred forest''. Our ancient and wise khagans were lived and ruled central asia from there... in some sources it's mentioned as ''a sacred forest on the top of the mountain '' Sadly, today we dont know much about ötüken where it was... Still uncovered and hidden place in central asian archaeology...even it's called in our ancient turkic as ''Ötüken Yış''. Yış means forest. Altay Mountains and endless steps was our true homeland... before our migration through the west we lived, fought, drank, loved in central asia... ıt reminds me a news... Several years ago, an amulet found in yakutistan/northern siberia. an inscription (Our Turkic Runes/Orkhon Scripts) carved on amulet maded by mammoth bone !! it's fantastic because in our ancient mythological stories there was a beasts lives in the darkness of the north.they were belongs to the tamag/underworld and they were trapped under ice... endless darkness and cold winds blows always... possibly our ancestors saw prehistoric mammoth remains in the caves, ices etc... how fascinating tradition & reality mixes in mythology !

Altai, the cradle of all 36 Turkic peoples. It is the capital of the once great "Turkic Khaganate". At a time when Turks, Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Tatars, Bashkirs, Azerbaijanis, Gagauz, partly Hungarians, Dungans, Sakha-Yakuts, Buryats, Karachays and so on were one nation. This spirit is reflected in the song singing of all Turkic peoples, especially in the throat sound

    Thank you for reaction. 👍
Otyken [O-tu-k`en] is definitely one of the best Russian "modern folk" bands. Their texts are in Khakass, Chulym, Dolgan and Russian languages. Word "Otyken" in Chulym and other Turkic languages means - "a sacred land where warriors would lay down their arms and talk".
Altay (region in south Siberia) is the hypotethical ancestral home of all Turkic languages tribes (peoples). Ummet Ozcan is a Dutch DJ and record producer of Turkish origin.
Otyken: Azyan - vocals; Ach - keyboard, throat singing; Kunchari - igil (two string cello); Otamay - khomuz (two/three string guitar); Tsveta - vargan (aka mouth harp, jaw harp), drums, khomuz, vocals; Maya - drums; Hakaida - bass-drums; Aiko (Muna from this year) - bass guitar; Sandro - rattling, muttering, dancing.

If you enjoy the shaman vibes from this, check out Kodo. A Japanese tiko drum group. 25-30 people on stage playing drums some 6 feet across. Pure primal fix. Love your message, keep up the good fight. Cheers!

Hand of Juno - Destroy the Line ... You may recognize the bass player, Alice Lane, as she now plays with Infected Rain. This is her original band, currently with only 3 songs released, but I'm looking forward to hearing more from these 3 awesome ladies!

Intro music nearly freaking blast your ears off, and then he start talking and you can barely hear him even at twice my normal volume ... LOL ... and then music video start very loud well ..since i freaking double the volum to hear him talk ! haha Atleast this music number sounds nice when very loud !
Just like the movies ! Insanely loud music and low talking, so you turn it up and pray you survive when music suddenly starts and god forbid commercials, they are always even louder.

Otyken is a musical group of the indigenous peoples of Russian Siberia that mixes elements of modern pop music with local folk music, using traditional instruments, lyrics and languages. "Otyken" is a derivative of a Turkic word translated into Russian meaning "a sacred place of power; a place where warriors laid down their arms and negotiated"
