I really want Daisy to be in this. I find it sad that she's been around longer and has more personality than most other female characters (except maybe Rosalina), yet Rosalina and Toadette were playable in platform games first. I do think Yoshi, Wario and Waluigi would be great additional characters as well (I would like to see Nintendo do more with Wario and Waluigi), but I mostly want Daisy.

@@twoforfive9228 Ikr? Idk why more people don't recognize this as "Waluigi's move". It's his most consistent unique power. In Power Tennis, 2012 Olympics, Mario Hoops, and others, he can swim through the air. It's pretty much his equivalent to Wario's shoulder bash at this point... although he hasn't been using it in the most recent games for some reason.

Personally, I would just give yoshi the flutter jump. I don't think it would make sense to make yoshi slower than mario since he's always either the same speed or faster. Can you think of any other physics you could make worse that would make sense?

Cat Wario
Most Likely: Toadette for sure.
She's really had a boost in attention from Nintendo lately. And the fact that she has models for her made in Mario Maker 2 for the 3D World style could make her an easy addition. Though... an obstacle she faces is that she might not have a unique power. Peach is actually playable in this game, so having Peachette would be redundant.
Most Wanted: Definitely Daisy
She has LONG deserved an official mainline appearance (besides the Wahster). And I could see her being a broken mix of multiple characters. Having a double jump, floaty properties, and good running speed.

Seeing as Rosalina basically added the Galaxy mechanics to 3d World, Pauline could ad the Odyssey mechanics.
Could totally see a stage based on New Donk City or something kind of metropolis Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (was just a spin off but proven to be the prequel to 3D world cuz they show Captain Toad entering the pipe to the Sprixie kingdom after the others do) also did that they added a few Odyssey themed stages as bonus to play

Honestly I found another post in this comment section and toadette has a higher chance of getting in than Yoshi cause of her attention lately by Nintendo and the fact that she already has a 3D world model in Mario maker 2 and has power up models, she will most likely make it in. Yoshi doesn’t seem very likely as they will have to make power up models for him and also the fact is that imagining Yoshi with power ups? It doesn’t seem to fit perfectly.

Interesting video. As a speedrunner though, peach is actually the best for speedrunning because of an exploit called cat momentum, which can be done with any character but adding peach’s float too makes her the best

I know all about cat momentum but didn't bring it up because Nintendo isn't gonna focus on balancing the game around an exploit used by probably .001% of the people who play, so it's kinda a moot point

My choices for characters starts with Daisy at 1st, followed by Pauline, Wario, Yoshi. Personally, the worst choice but sadly the most likely is toadette
I think that they should include more than 4 characters and that each one be unlocked throughout the game and that each one with different abilities becomes playable.

In a new mario game, I would make mario, luigi, peach, and yoshi playable from the start. Then you can unlock daisy later in the game. Then have wario and dk as dlc.

Ole Yeah but this is because she cuts shortcuts with her ability, the fundamental float mechanic itself is slower. Regardless you’re right, but I think Thomas was talking about general gameplay, not optimization.

Ok, long paragraph time. Only gonna mention characters that I actually care about, and this will be in a general mario platformer sense, not just 3d world. Please bear with me.
Yoshi: YES. Since his inception, yoshi has only been treated as an item. Later in the series, yoshi seriously got larger respect from nintendo to becoming his own character. Showing up in the spinoffs, and even having his own series. I feel like yoshi being a full on playable character would be the final step to giving yoshi the respect he deserves as a mario character. Ironically, this would mean heavily nerfing his abilities, but I'm sure it's worth the risk. So yeah, obviously give him his flutter jump (you can only use it once in the air though), and take away his tounge and egg throwing, as weird as that is. I kinda want him to have a little flaw in his physics, considering his flutter jump would be pretty strong anyway and the fact I want to balance him out, but I can't really think of anything.
Daisy: Of all the characters that show up in the spinoffs (besides yoshi), daisy is the one most likely and the one most deserving in my opinion. She's already in smash, and I feel she deserves to be relevant in a main mario game again. I would basically give her the double jump from mario run. But I would also make her slightly faster than peach, but still pretty slow. I don't think it's right to compare her double jump to rosalina's spin attack since they're both really different. The spin attack is an attack that can be used to stall time in the air, while the double jump gives you a boost of extra hight in the air. They're both very different, so daisy would still stand out.
Wario: I would really like to see him return, but probably not in this game. I would make him dlc in a later, new game. I would just give him his iconic shoulder bash from his own games. Mames him go a bit faster and he can break blocks from the side. But to compensate, he's the slowest character.
Waluigi: Yeah, you really shouldn't have waluigi before wario in this kind of thing. Heck, I think I'd be funnier and in character if waluigi was never playable, but I digress. I would personally give him the physics of skinny mario, from mario maker. Where he jumps the highest and runs the fastest. The drawback? He dies in ONE HIT. Even if you have a power up! HAH! I feel like this would be perfectly in character with him.
Donkey kong: Same case as wario. I would make him dlc. Really, I'm just sick of that group of people who DON'T think that mario and dk exist in the same universe or a part of the same franchise, so dk being playable would put that odd belief down once and for all (If it was canon, which I'm sure it would be). I wouldn't make him an invincible mode (goombas are stronger than you think!) and would try to balance him out as well. Give him physics like mario, but when he jumps on enemies, they die in one hit. This would mean you couldn't naturally use koopa shells or bomb ombs, however. But I would give him his hand slap, so he could grab those things. Really, his biggest downfall would be that he would have the biggest hit box (If this were 2d mario, I would also take away the ability to spin jump. But this is 3d world, so no). And yes, he would be able to use power ups.
Diddy kong: Same with waluigi, should be after dk. I would make him faster than mario, and give him peach's float with his jetpack but it wouldn't last as long (referencing dkcr and dkctf), but he needs two jump on enemies twice to hurt them (referencing the original dkc).
Everyone else, I don't see the point. Toadette, I feel would only be a carbon copy of toad, and I feel that's all she should be. Pauline, I always thought was kind of pointless because.....well what can she do? Not much. The hat idea is kinda cool though, but you'd have to balance it. Nabbit.........eh no. I don't see a point to bring him back at all.

Daisy actually does have a higher chance for a 3D world port and no it isn't similar to Rosalinas air spin attack. Rosalinas air spin is a small pause in the air while Daisy jumps higher and farther than her friends as said in her trailer for the remix 10 trailer. The Daisy and Rosalina special ability thing really is a misconception. But as far as i know about Yoshi being in 3D world its probably lower than a 50 because he was scrapped from the game because characters like Luigi and Peach already had floaty like abilities. I dunno why he couldn't be a ridable character at least but they came up with the new dragon character

The problem with having Yoshi as a character is it would be weird to model him with the powerups. Imagine cat yoshi, boomerang yoshi, and mushroom yoshi... it just doesnt work. Yoshi is like more of an assist character.
Toadette is most likely b/c she seems to be getting attention from nintendo in the past 4 years, and adding her alongside toad would make sense. With daisy, she has so many unique characteristics that she would make a great addition to the game. We are DEFINETLY getting at least one new character.
However, yoshi would probably be added in some levels for the character to ride on...
note: yoshi probably will appear, just not as a character (I think)

Actually, I could see it. Maybe he could change colour with power ups. Small yoshi also in super Mario run. Fire breathing yoshis aren’t out of the ordinary, yoshis saddle could have a koopa shell look for boomerang yoshi and we’ve seen bowser and goombas use the tail and cat suit so there’s no reason why yoshi couldn’t. He would likely have just the tail and the ears rather than the entire suit alongside a change of colour. Mostly I’m hoping yoshi gets in because he’s one of my favourite characters and I don’t really care for toadette.
Personally I want Daisy and Wario, since they’re my favorite Mario characters but I can see Toadette being in since Nintendo seems to love her.
Literally same I've wanted Daisy since before 3D World came out and I would love nothing more to see her in a "Deluxe" version of this game, and even though I'm not a huge fan of Wario, seeing Nintendo give him some attention and an actual playable role since 64 DS would be awesome! But knowing Nintendo they'll probably just slap Toadette on and call it a day. I don't have a problem with Toadette but c'mon Nintendo she's overused at this point give other characters a chance!

I love how nobody is realizing that in order to 100% the game you must beat every single level with every single character, if they add like 3 more characters that means replaying the game 3 MORE TIMES! That’s crazy.

Hope that if this is made, Daisy is added. Always thought it was kinda weird that it was Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad. Always thought it'd make more sense if it was the two plumbers and the two princesses.
Eh, Peach only really works as playable in this game since it's a new set of worlds (aka she's not getting kidnapped) and since she can play very unique from other characters with her float ability. Daisy is like Peach but far less recognizable or important to the Mario series, and because Peach is already in the game, it would be weird to have another princess that would likely just play the same way. A better set of four players could be the Mario and Wario brothers.
These characters are in, because they are based on super mario bros 2. Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach are also playable there and they have same mechanics as in 3d world

Bowser was never playable in a mario game except for a few rpgs and he's my favorite character so yeah
Out of anyone, I want Yellow Toad, Daisy, Toadette and Nabbit. Yellow Toad could have the same ability as toad, Toadette could swim easily, Daisy could double jump, and Nabbit could be immune from Damage.

Rosalina is a far more interesting character that especially made sense for the 3D World inclusion given that you unlock her in an outer space world and her signature move of a spin attack (like that of Mario Galaxy) fits her character very well; meanwhile, there wasn't really anything that would specifically fit Daisy that Peach didn't already have

Here are what I'd think the abilities for the new characters!
Yoshi: Flutter jump and tongue move.
Daisy: If played Daisy, new beets will be generated into the ground, and exclusively pick up and throw those.
Pauline: She can throw her cap.
Toadette: Maybe just a reskin for toad?
Wario: Larger ground pound.
Waluigi: An upgrade to Luigi, perhaps you can unlock him later in the game, and you'll get a massive jump height.
Donkey Kong: Melee attack, he can punch people.
Nabbit: Pure invincibility.

Your idea for Pauline sounds good (hat throw acting like a permanent boomerang suit) but how about making it interesting because that's how she functions she cannot use power ups (excluding double cherries) so she essentially becomes the "daredevil mode" . In terms of stats she has Toad's jump and peach's speed/acceleration (since she's not used to platforming about) the player then has to take a more tactical approach as they can't tank hits nor easily avoid some situations
For Wario or DK they could have their size and weight become a gimmick, the crouching-dash or somersault can damage enemies but they are less good at jumping and also a naturally bigger hit box so are more susceptible to hazards, this would work better than Rosalina's gimmick since her spin is tied to the action button rather than a movement so she loses it upon getting a power up
for Daisy's sake you could make her similar to peach in terms of stats and ability but vertical, she has a harder time with wide gaps but a propeller-block-like second jump it makes getting flag pole tops easy, it doesn't break the game but makes one factor easier.

This is gonna sound like a lie but I honestly had no idea that Daisy had a double jump in Super Mario Run, and spent the whole day wondering what the most logical power she could get in a 3D world styled game, and the reasoning was it's a more active variation of Peach's float, fits with the verticality of Luigi's movement, and made me think of other platformers using it sometimes as a crutch and sometimes as an aggressive movement like Scout from TF2
My thoughts: (not in order) I think that Yoshi, Birdo, Paper Mario, Toadette, Peachette, Daisy, Nabbit, Cappy, Lakitu, Steve (from Minecraft of course), Wario, and finally, Waluigi would have a chance. I do think that skins could also happen, such as Luigi with a Poltergeist, or Mario with F.L.U.D.D., Tiara over Cappy, or Peachette (not like new abilities, just a skin), or even different colors of Toads or adding Toadette as a skin, or again Birdo as a skin over Yoshi. Also maybe a mii character (from your mii selection) would be added but with the same moves as Mario. Special abilities: Y: Tounge, flutter, no power-ups B: Egg shot, flutter, no power-ups PM: Slow fall, hammer, power-ups but limited time usage T: Just toad P: Same as NSMBUD D: Double jump N: Same as NSMBUD C: Dash, double jump, no power-ups L: Cloud that lasts for ten seconds, recharge necessary S: Diamond sword, and like the builder power up in SMM2, can place wood planks, but they cannot move, and no power-ups W: Fart, bike dash/mega ground-pound, no power-ups WL: Super jump, dash, no power-ups. Characters I don't believe have a chance but would be cool: Mario in a kart, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Oliva and Olly (Newest PM Game), Excitebike dude, Metal Mario/Gold Mario (Could also be skin), Dr Mario (Could be skin), Builder Mario (Builder power up in SMM2) (Could be skin), Kamek, and the most plausible of these, Funky Kong (Could be skin of Donkey Kong).

Wario has like a 15% chance of being added in my book. He already has been in a 3D Mario game before (SM64DS), and has good move set potential. I like your idea for a ground pound stun, but I feel like he also could use a punch attack. The downside would be a low jump and a slow running speed.
