So I'm 43 old, so, of course, I loved the old Mario movie. But I did just go see the new Mario and enjoyed it just as much.

I find it so strange that he hasn't really done much the past 10 years especially in terms of big cinema movies. His filmography is truly amazing filled with greats such as Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Planet Terror, and of course Dusk Til Dawn.

This was great! As a kid I used to read every movie novelization I could find because I could read all the deleted and extended scenes.
Growing up in Australia I must've read a copy imported from the UK. I probably still have my copy in a box full of books at my Dad's house, alongside my novelization of 'Getting Even with Dad' and 'Dumb and Dumber.'
One thing I remember, which didn't come up in the discussion, Mario and Luigi get back into Dinohattan in a stolen "sludge gulper" which is a dumptruck covered in fungus.
The drivers, wearing gas masks and jumpsuits, are identified as Snifits. Snifits are enemies in 'Super Mario bros. 2' which shoot bullets from their masks.
Snifits! We were musing on the movie review if they were Shyguys, but that totally makes sense!

The most disturbing thing about this movie is the fact that Daisy comes out of an egg. Which means that she's from an egg-laying species. Which means that Princess Daisy has a cloaca.

I've only seen this movie once and totally didn't realize that was Fisher Stevens.. I just rewatched 'Hackers' the other night and that movie is such a classic.. It encapsulates the 90's so well.. Overconfident in EVERY way.. Few things in this world can top Fisher Stevens on a skateboard while skitching a limo to grab a floppy-disc from our protagonist.
If you guys ever have an opening for recommendations, you should seriously consider reviewing the John Waters classic 'Serial Mom'.. It is SO up your alley and no one else on RUclips is more suited for it than the definitive Dumpster Dwellers!!

I don't know if scholastic ever published a novelization of the movie, but they did have children's books and color activity books for this movie. I was in like 3rd or 4th grade when this movie came out and I got the books from the book fair before seeing the film.

Edit 1: Super Mario Land is where they get Daisy from. At that time she wasn’t yet established as Luigi’s “Girlfriend”. In fact if I remember correctly, this was the 1st time that actually happened in a piece of Super Mario Media.
Edit 2: Super Mario World came out in 1991 in Japan & 1992 in the US.
