I fitted the Netatmo Thermostat in my home. I wanted this to help save on heating costs. It was a doddle to install and it's learning algorithm soon understood our Homes Thermal Properties, how warm we like it and it even takes into account the local outdoor temperature. I love it.
@@efixx I replaced an old Salus RT500. Which in itself is wireless, but not that Smart. So yes i did the boiler connecting, pairing the Smart Stat and receiver and joining it to my network. Lovely bit of kit and i get a monthly report to tell me how my usage is fairing.
How lovely and simplistic is that for installing and set up. Do like the internal hardware based storage, allowing you to not be reliant on cloud based services
One of the key points with these is the wireless. Many built for cardboard US houses have a problem with our brick and block - it would be good to see it in a real situation and what kind of signal it sees.
Sounds like the voice of experience. Our demo unit is fitted on the outside of our aluminium clad building. Not a great environment for Wifi. We will be testing out the Netatmo products in a real house over the next few weeks.
I see someone already thought about that red card being unique, which luckily it is... But isn't that camera extremely easy to take down? Not only didn't you use any special tools installing the thing, the cable is also easy to reach with a pair of sidecutters. Since it uses an internal SD-card for storage, the access to the footage is gone as soon as somebody cuts the power or manages to disturb its wifi-connection. Is there a back-up battery on-board and is it possible to let it automatically make a cloud or on-site backup periodically without having a phone or computer online doing the work?
By storing locally it also means that as a security product it's less useful, nefarious persons will quickly know they can just knock the camera down and steel it to prevent there image being provided to the home owner, would rather pay a small fee for all my cameras to be backed up in the cloud to provide to the police if needed. Otherwise very good product and great review.
@@efixx how long does it take to transfer, is it almost instantaneous or a lot slower than direct to cloud, I did look at a few a while back and some took 30 mins or more to back up, which is effectively useless as the camera has been knicked by that point.
@@cjhification The transfer is almost instant, the moment the file is created for the card for storage/viewing it is also sent to dropbox and/or an FTP site. The user will see a time marked dropbox 'Successful upload' notification in the Netatmo app timeline. It's also worth mentioning that when an activity is detected an image of the object that triggered it is sent directly to the user with the push notification.
Good point - The red card is unique to the camera. It’s also stored in the app once you’ve commissioned the camera - useful feature when you loose the card.
Correct me if I'm wrong ... but this is an exterior fitting yes? If so what is the IP rating of it, as whilst fitting in it in your video [section 1:41 > 2:15] you made no mention of IP rating or the lack of any provision (?). Given it's a basic 3 way strip connector which is then stuffed behind a square backplate with no sign of any sealing gasket etc ... what's the deal? I only ask because if I where fitting something such as this my lecturer or boss would have my b@##s [if I had any 😳... female sparky ] .... lol 😂😂😂
The Netatmo Outdoor Camera's internal electronics are protected by a HZO protective coating creating a strong barrier against rain, snow, hail, humidity, sand and dust. The SD card is covered in a dielectric grease to complete the barrier. As part of the installation we instruct the installer to seal around the top and sides of the wall mounting plate leaving the bottom open to prevent moisture building up. The floodlight is LED 12W 1100lm 4000k with dimming capability. It is the equivalent of a 120W halogen floodlight. It can be set to turn on only with specific detection types/events, for example, you can set it to turn automatically on only when the Camera detects people or cars, and keep it off for the rest of the time, even if it detects any other motion such as an animal. You can also manually turn it on, off or set to auto. It can even be set to stay on during the night.
Hi MR V. As far I'm aware the Eufy floodlight camera doesn't have intelligent detection, I understand it to be 3 PIR sensors working alongside video pixel change. The Netatmo camera has smart detection. This works by analysing the live video to classify a moving object as one a follow types: Animal, Vehicle, Person or Unknown Object. The user can set which detection types to record and to be notified of. The user is also able to correct any incorrect detection types which will help train and improve the algorithm built in the camera (no cloud processing, no video is sent to the cloud). Netatmo can automatically upload recordings to an FTP location and Dropbox. Netatmo works with Apple Home Kit, this could be an important difference for some. Netatmo has 4 years warranty. I hope this help.

One really obvios point that as electricians Iwould 100% have expected you to mention... IP rating ? That product with those chocbloc connections does not look great to me, expecially if the fitting was on a brickwork bridging between bricks of on a tyrolean finish....no seals,no gaskets that I could see. Again...really surprised at that omission. Especially as images show how a cable exiting the cladding is shown using a compression glad yet sod all on that fitting !!

You might just have missed my point there.. what is th IP rating and just how does the that coating that protects electronics the mains connectors ? Forget the card, forget any circuitry, Is that a clear question ?
@@allanroyle7622 We don't rate the product's protection by IP as HZO protection exceeds it. The mains connections are located inside/the back of the wall plate. For water to enter this space it would have to come from any gap between the wall and the top and/or sides of the plate. This is also why we recommend leaving the bottom unsealed to allow that space to 'breathe'. If you still have any doubts perhaps the 4 year warranty will help. I hope my explanation is more helpful this time.
My netatmo Camera burnt out after 3 years , no light or night vision . Emailed the company in France and they made me pay 55.00 to ship it to them and then gave me a discount on a new one. These cameras do not replace a real, QUALITY, CCTV system. Ultimately, they have many failings, when compared to a TRUE CCTV system. In my opinion, products like these, give a false sense of security, to the end user, and ultimately, they give poor results when needed.
