No matter with what, If it is made in the capable hands of Mathieu Stern, It is at a different level of excellence.
Lol. He merely adapted it.
@@MrMiles-gi1hl LOLer! It's never been the lens or that camera. It's always that person behind the camera.
You don't believe me? Watch the lens Mat made up of pure water or the lens found in the trash or that 100-year-old one! or...
Know nothing, talk a lot is merely an adaption of ignorance... which is bliss
I just want someone to make an autofocus lens like this. Modern conveniences like AF, electronic aperture, and EXIF information, but absolutely wild character. It’d be a nifty niche for a lens company to have a little line of lenses like this, or a modern Helios 44, and so forth.
AF on a lens like this would might be possible with DJI's lidar, but I don't think you'd be able to otherwise.
There is an adapter already for m42 to E mount with af, google it
There is the TechArt Adapter.
DUDE this is wild. Great work. It makes me think of the Petzval lens they used to film some of the crazier scenes in the Lighthouse. Also that butterfly shot is unreal.
It has beautiful character. Nice job. Do you have a method to add an adjustable aperture? Giving it a little more DOF at times would make it even more versatile. Loved the video. Thanks.
I have a few old projector lenses, I need to take a look and see if any are worth adapting. Sounds fun, thanks.
Very beautiful pairing of image and audio
Waiting for that course !!!
Incredible footage
Gorgeous results. Very dreamy. And your cinematography is excellent as always
This guy can take a cardboard box and make a beautiful bokeh crazy lens from it. ❤❤❤❤
kah....razy swirl bro! Your work and creativity have inspired me soooo much. Thank you. Don't have the bucks for full frame yet (MFT) but CANNOT remove the first 3 adapted projector lenses from my GH5. Now running rubber washers as Waterhouse stops out back for better DOF for my current macro work. I have literally sold off most of my trad lens collection since shooting my first PJ lens. You are literally bringing light to these amazing optical engineers who worked on paper...with formulas. I'm on the hunt now as well...in Colorado USA. Keep doing this work, so as to spread the word and save these unknown gems from our current disposable culture!
Encore une fois c'est très original et ça donne de très belles images.
Superb Mathieu, thank you very much!
Omg! Videographer from Germany here. I really love your videos but the footage this time! It was just wonderful. How can I get the lens and adapter? I need it for new movies I'm going to shoot with my sony a 7 III. ❤
You need to check eBay for the lens, there is no easy way to find it
I really love your works! I wish I could be like you. Long time dream of mine is to be a photographer (hobbyist but not professional). I hope I can buy a camera this year.
You can do it!
What kind of camera are you looking to buy?
@@santiagocardona1617 any mirrorless camera will do...
@@MathieuSternguess what!!! My sister gave me a fujifilm mirrorless camera just now 😭
jarring overall, decent aberrations indoors... and superb intimated cow ennui
Incredible work Mathieu!
Glad you think so!
Really nice!
this lens makes me feel dizzy! If you want to evoke the feeling of being disoriented and dizzy, this works REALLY well!
i have a similar swirling bokeh with my Lubitel 166, i really love this effect it gives a unique look to my photos :)
The sequence with the hen is absolutely splendid.
what do you look for when trying to buy one of these? do all projector lenses have these characteristics or is there something in particular to keep an eye out for??
The projector lenses you show on this chanel are AMAZING! I love the dream-like quality to them. You actually got me inspired to try this myself. I compulsively bought 2 kodak and a Noristar Berlin lens. Very much looking forward to your course video. I also use Sony Alpha, so hoping for some cool tips and trick for adapting the lenses ;)
I'm so glad!
c"était si beau mec, merci
The swirlyness is so strong! It’s a little but distracting, isn’t it? Looks neat, but it also draws my eyes away from the subject. Very cool to see a lens like this being used in such a different way to how it was intended!
Dude ! You’re awesome 😮
The videos taken with that lens reminds me of vivid memories
Given this lens’ rarity, what would you recommend as more accessible alternatives to achieve such a swirly bokeh?
Superb and funny ! Thank you for this video, again !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ah bravo, le beret il est top. 😀😀😀
Great content! Can you please give advice on how to know whether a projector lens can cover a full frame sensor with it's imaging circle? Is it just trial and error, or does focal length/aperture matter in this?
16mm projector lenses will cover full frame only over 70mm , 35mm projector will cover from 25mm
I love your video, and like the vintage lens look so much. I want to build one for myself. What adapter you use to focus?
Great video! Can I ask the model or a kind of a adapter you used to enable focusing?
So cool!
a great ! i am trying to contact you but no one is answering
What is the focusing mechanism you use in this video?
please include exactly which helicoid is being used in your videos. there are several different focus throw distances for each. thanks for the vid.
Will do
@@MathieuStern .... starting with this one? 🤪
It all depends on the camera system you're using because they all use a different flange distance (the distance between the sensor and the lens mount). For Sony I always use a 25 to 55mm helicoid but if, for example, you're using a Nikon DSLR the lens needs to be much closer to the camera so you need a different helicoid.
@@Ni5ei Thanks! I shoot Sony as well.
That lens. I must have it!!!
I'm curious about one specific tlthing though. If one where to manufacture an apperture ring (or maybe a couple of different set apperture rings that one could place in front of the adapter) for this lens, would it ruin/remove the swirliness?
Good question!
the appareture needs to sit inside the lens at a specific distance, that why it's very hard to add some on a projector lens
@@MathieuStern I honestly thought the distance from the appeture didn't matter, but of course it does 😖 hahaha!
What happens to the image if the distance isn't right? I'd kinda like to see that
The more you stop down, the higher the depth of field and the less the bokeh effect. Plus what Mathieu said.
@@HerfinnurI would assume you get lot of vignetting.
Just use a loose leaf reinforcer. Paint it Black..you bas get a constant f4. Paint it Black, put it in the back of the element.
Another great video Mathieu. Any comments on adapting 8mm movie camera lenses onto Sony a7 series cameras? I have the opportunity to get a Mansfield Holiday II Triple Turret Lens movie camera.
Do you know of a solution for adapting a Lomo 90mm F2 projector lens onto the Fuji X mount? I don't have the original holder from the projector, just the lens itself which doesn't help.
I not a big fan of swirl bokeh because it looks a bit like post process swirl on the sides. In the middle it looks better.
impressionnant moi ce qui m’intéresse bcp , c'est la confiture à la mirabelle !!!
prunes jaunes :)
hi i found a leitz wetzlar hektor f2.5 150mm lens, can i use it on a sony APSC camera..thanks
Amazing bokeh
Oh no! I've been given a swirly!
Thanks!
Welcome!
Have you considered starting a food channel? What type of preserves/jam was made at the start?
Yellow Prunes jam made by my mom :)
@@MathieuStern excellent!
Swear ly froooo-sh look.... Super.😂
Interesting lens and results. Cheers.
la confiture de mirabelle !!!
pluton prunes jaunes, mais de la mirabelle ça serais pas mal aussi :)
Nice! :)
Hi Mathieu, How can we rent to you this lens ? Thx
What is this adaptor
M52 to M42 helicoid
does it work on APSC ?
Yes, but you crop the edges, where the best swirl is happening.
La question est comment peut on louer cet Objo ? ;)
Awesome project but that swirlyness is too much for my liking. I think helios 44-2 has just the perfect amount
"Bokeh monster" 😄
Very psychedelic, in a beautiful way 🤩
Glad you think so!
Its like fever dream
Shouldn't be hard to take an old cheap lens as a base and use the helicoid and aperture to make something like that. As it is now it's quite limited in use.
please, try and let me know if it works :)
Bokehlicious.
The obsession with Bokeh is getting a bit out of hand.
because of the big hand in the thumbnail ? :)
@@MathieuStern It is a very intimidating hand!
Me when drunk
its certainlly the King, a bit to much for my taste...
Where do you get a decent helocoid for cheap? Btw that's a crazy amount of sugar 😮
Well that's the usual amount when making jam, isn't it?
I loved the super focused in food videos, made me reminisce of being a child and focus in on something interesting. Also made me actively curious about the surrounding, where is this magical place where you make marmalade? And I do love a sense of mystery ☺
