this got to be the coolest jaguar ive ever seen. also cool of kexp to keep the studio dark i think the visual aesthetic of their shows is just a part of this band
@@tristanwildey1996 dont worry he smashes them all the time and fixes them up after the gig to destroy em again at the next gig the jag will be fine :)
They played something like 14 shows in only 5 or so days during sxsw this year. Managed to catch 7 of em, they're such a rad, hard working band, and also super nice. Can't get enough of them
Seen these guys open for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club years ago. Been a fan ever since. First band that taught me what it feels like to be "inside" a live performance. Bravo.
Found this band yesterday. I buried a stranger today. Today a table at the restaurant I work at brought in an urn of their family member's ashes and spilled them everywhere. Then they left, and left the ashes behind. The traumatized waitresses had to throw them in the trash. I went to the bar afterwards and my friends and I came to the conclusion that a dumpster is no proper resting place for any man. We walked over to my work, found the ashes in a bag in the dumpster, and put them in a small urn a friend of ours happened to have. We buried him behind the dumpster with a few words about life.
Seen these guys in Glasgow Scotland next to the black angels. Paid to see the angels but a place to bury strangers out performed them. Absolutely amazing set with the guitarist out in the crowd at the end of the set. Loved them ever since. When are they coming back to Scotland? I'd happily pay to see them again. The drummer played the shit out they drums, I thought she was possessed 😁
YES so so good! The drummer is an animal and her voice contributes so much. Everybody in the band has so much energy and is so locked in with one and other.
Just saw them in Carrboro, NC. Dude was absolutely legendary on stage. Smashed his guitar like it owed him money and still kept playing in since the strings were still intact. So performative and one of the best shows I've ever been to. Also the loudest, swear I nearly went deaf.
This band is meant to be watched live. Watched 'em live once when they visit my country and hands down they brought one of the most amazing audio visual "experience". ...And Oliver toured with the same Jaguar in this vid, but with only the half part of it :))
I have just realised that I follow KEXP videos since 2008, because I heard for the first time APTBS in their appearance then! "Ocean", what a blast! Thanks again KEXP for the company all these years. Keep discovering sound treasures!
My favorite incarnation of the band. Lia has so much power, energy and her voice fits perfectly with Oliver. Dion is the perfect pillar. I hope they'll reunite one of these days...
LOVE the harp song, they played it in melbourne earlier this year -hypnotic break in the noise, truely memorable!.. without checking, i’m guessing lia is from eastern european descent
2nd best show I've seen was these guys at Chop Suey. That was some primal shit there. Their recorded stuff and this performance do not do justice to their live shows.
people should stop abusing nice offset guitars. It's just painful to watch. Oh and this reminds me of his KEXP session 10 years ago. One of my favorites.
Dude, Cheryl always hosts my favorite bands. Her music taste is awesome, plus she’s good at being a proper hostess
I don't know if KEXP just gives her the big names/promising names but yeah I've realized is Cheryl is hosting its probably going to be good.
I was just thinking that!
Hahaha Cheryl only do it when the bands has fame
She's the best. She really likes the bands she presents, you can tell.
cheryl is the aunt we all wish we had
this got to be the coolest jaguar ive ever seen.

He's got a couple of em that are super sick. Saw them a whole bunch during sxsw this year, he would smash one during the first song. They're wild
Same, love the jag. Makes me sad that he smashed it :( one less vintage jag in the world
@@tristanwildey1996 dont worry he smashes them all the time and fixes them up after the gig to destroy em again at the next gig the jag will be fine :)
@@tristanwildey1996 he should have glued it back like a buried stranger brought back from the dead.

the perfect combination of psychedelic dreaminess and driving post punk energy! best fucking band on the planet
The absolute madman with the stock jaguar bridge!

Doing god's work, thanks!

"like it owed him money" that's excellent "he played it like he stole it" is how this KEXP performance is/was
Lia's voice is wonderful

They're probably my favorite band to see live, nothing compares to them.
Thanks to Pond’s visit to Amoeba records for bringing these guys to my attention! And thank you, KEXP for being my music-lovin spirit animal
Saw this group with The Black Angels once..awesome show! Go KEXP!
Eddie Glavin Black Angels are fucking awesome. I saw them with Black Mountain on Black Friday years ago.
I have just realised that I follow KEXP videos since 2008, because I heard for the first time APTBS in their appearance then! "Ocean", what a blast! Thanks again KEXP for the company all these years. Keep discovering sound treasures!
I saw them here in Denver with The Big Pink. One of the best shows I've ever seen. SO LOUD!
Lia smashed my heart on the Harp song. What beautiful voice and intense drummer!
Most expressive band what ive ever listen. all life with this band. Best guys ever!
Best Line up!
With all respect to the drummer and bassist, Oliver Ackermann's guitar is what makes APTBS APTBS
One of my favorite bands
My favorite incarnation of the band. Lia has so much power, energy and her voice fits perfectly with Oliver. Dion is the perfect pillar. I hope they'll reunite one of these days...
Major credit to the camera operators on this. Great job.
Why am I practice scales and shit if I can just play like this guy and it sounds so good?
antkn33 LMFAO! I was just thinking the same thing. That guitar solo 🤦🏼♂️.
You need an amazing rhythm section like this one tho haha
Exactly
fty - He is the owner of Death By Audio pedals
learn the rules so you can break them better
Who would give this a thumbs down? Seriously...
Gotta love these guys!
Listened to them live in Belgrade, they absolutely rocked!!!
This is a brilliant recording... love the dark studio with backlighting. Sounds great, too.
Is this the Death by Audio guy ??
Sounds nice ;))
Yep Oliver Ackerman !
You're goddamn right it is! Ollie invented the fuzz war and makes cool sounds, truly an inspiration to millions.
Yep. Oliver is super nice, chatted with him a couple times after shows. Can't wait to see them play again this October.
Yes he is super nice! A friend asked if he could bring home any part from Oliver's "damaged" guitar, he gave away a new part instead!
Ya they sound very nice.....we are saving money to buy them some pedals....
First time listening your music. Great moment, thanks.
I love their intensity!
WOW ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love APTBS so much!
Très belles ambiances. Noisy powa !
Just discovered these guys…. I think I really like’m thanks keexpt.
Here because I saw these guys open for IDLES last night and they were fucking phenomenal.
Thx kexp! Was waiting for this one for a very very long time! Such a great band!
Very nice. Definitely going to see them if they ever come to Athens, Ga
Oliver's guitar sound is so dirty! Gotta respect the worn out guitar look. It shows character haha
That guitar has been splintered and glued back together so many times...
LOVE the harp song, they played it in melbourne earlier this year -hypnotic break in the noise, truely memorable!.. without checking, i’m guessing lia is from eastern european descent
the lights in KEXP studio is godlike
I'm pretty sure Ollie did additional lighting for this show which is awesome
YEAH! Sorry neighbours, this one is FULL VOLUME
More neighbors like you.
Thank God For KEXP
I love them! I was at 3 lives in Rome
Looks like an AVRI '65 Jaguar. 😁
I love KEXP!
FINALLY! AMAZING!
I watched this band last year in Asheville NC and the black angels what amazing bands.
Jose Linears I met the singer of the black angels in SF. Such a cool and down to earth artist.
Cheryl Waters is so good at this. Great set.
Nice. Tyvm again KEXP.
I don’t know, it’s everywhere in my head
Didn't think they could be any better, but Lia definitely takes them up yet another level. Nice.
Saw these guys in Cape Town, my God what a show, had so much fun losing my mind
by far my favorite kexp video. I guess is because APTBS is such an extraordinary band.
Pinned is an amazing album!
We're all in the band!
First time I ever listen to these guys and idk what genre this is but I love them
a fine blend of noise rock, shoegaze and post punk
Same! These guys are crushing it.
@@LieuweBuik that's a great way to put it
The drummer is a badass
This should be an ad for whatever locking pins he's using on that guitar
he's not, his guitar falls off during pretty much every song which is why he tends to hold them that high or just throws and breaks them mid-set
I hear a lot of Joy Division and Steve Albini and X influences. Good stuff! I've heard their name around and I thought they were emo!
Check their first two records, for starters. You’ll hear JD; New Order, the noisiest Love and Rockets and way more...
They're like an groovier, more modern early Swans. Love it.
👍🔈🔉🔊🔊🎧👌🎸👍J'adore ! 😚
Saw 'em @ the Record Bar in KC (was it really 10 years ago?) in 2008. The addition of the new drummer/vocalist makes them sound even more interesting!
wicked!!!
Ciao Cheryl!
Getting a serious angry Sonic Youth vibe, which is a cool thing.
Why don't they ever play the best song in professional sessions? They never play in your heart
wut
💜💜💜💜💜💜
THE GIRL WHO PLAYS THE DRUMS,SHE ALSO PLAYS WHIT TR/ST IN THE KEXP SESSION THEY HAVE
These dudes played 110decibles high they blew my fucking ear drums out hahaha
Sounds scary and I listen to brutal death metal
cherly is probably the worlds coolest aunt or grandmother.
Does anyone know what make and series of cymbals she's playing ? Looks like old Paiste 2002 but I couldn't see any label .
Dream Cymbals. Pretty cool cymbals.
Que banda massa do caralho
Fuck I miss KEXP.
ah shit, I'm just waiting for Oliver's guitar to fly
awesome! i miss robi tho, an absolute death machine
He plays for This Will Destroy You now.
Finally I've realised my dream to be the 1000
Singers from my hometown fxbg va
Iceage & The Horrors come on!!!
"You won't consider me rude if I play with ma' mitts on will yer'?"
2nd best show I've seen was these guys at Chop Suey. That was some primal shit there. Their recorded stuff and this performance do not do justice to their live shows.
What happened to Bass stranger ?
Gad daimn they went hard in the paint
I can't tell if there's method to Oliver's craze, because all of my attempts of crazy feedback never sounds as tight.
Jake carney it probably has something to do with the pedal company (death by audio) that the singer owns.
If I remember right, he also has his Reverb head modded- his board is fairly simple (in number) tho last time I saw
That second song sounds like a cross between Joy Division and Patti Smith. Nice.
He sounds and kinda looks like an Ice King
to facts wth
yo*
If aliens stumble upon this; were good
why lia left the band though ??
oh shit, that's the old drummer from Le Butcherettes
Music to cut your inner thighs to....
hands down best descriptions ive ever heard to describe a band. well done.
Imagine devi ever on bass
And theres definitely a Joy Division baby in there somewhere.
:)
Anyone else think the drummer sounds like Allison Mosshart?
All sorts of that kinda such
Get altered hours to play
No mic on his snare??...
Her*
@@totalignoranceincI was talking about the guitarist singer dude. He was playing a snare but couldn't hear it at all
Thats a floor tom dude.
@@jeremyledingham1496 I see that now the 2nd time. Looked like a snare from the one camera angle
😉
Imagining her hands being like 2 bloody mallets pounding on the drums 😆🤕😅

I was wondering if the guitar would survive the show.
That guitar has survived much worse...
je suis la plus grosse malade mentale de toute la suisse romande =)
