Willie and Salina search for an apartment together. Jeff's mother Sylvia is confined to the Lawrence home following a back injury and a quarrel with Jeff's father.
Sada Thompson looked beautiful in that red dress and with red lipstick. A wonderful color for her. I prefer her hair the way it is in these earlier episodes - it’s longer and fuller than in later seasons.
One major problem: Selina is a self-reliant, independent person; and Willie is a mama's boy who is reliant on his family for all his needs. As soon as Willie mentions leaving his parents home and getting his own place with Selena, Doug and Kate start going apeshit! They are practically holding him down in the chair. Why is it that whenever one of the Lawrence kids try to leave home , Kate and Doug try their hardest to make the kid feel like he or she can't make it out there?
Having not seen this series since original broadcast, it can now be recognized as ably dramatising the then emerging "Child Worship Cult" . In 1976 all the Lawrence offspring are soft, spoiled, pampered and indulged. 50 years later their grandchildren need safe spaces and are traumatized by an opposing opinion. We've lost a lot of ground.
Season Hubley! So gorgeous with her feathered hair! I loved the Selena McGee character and wish she was a more permanent one on here! Willie shoulda married her instead of endlessly tryin to get tail in almost every episode 😉
Selena luv her..but when she played Terry on Starsky and Hutch as starskys girlfriend and dies. So sad but she did an amazing job on that character sooo good❤
Silvia leaves with all her clothes. Is very proper and uppity, and yet, after being at their house a few days, she leaves wearing the same clothes she showed up in

A lot of their elders are traumatized by opposing opinions as well.

re Hubley: watching these back to back with Schrader's HARDCORE is something.
She was beautiful, but she looks nothing like herself today.
@@isabeldonahue4157 That is called "getting old"... happens to every single person who lives on Earth

I think Buddy is the most mature of the three children lol
it depends on the episode
Willie has no job, no income, lives at home and is in his twenties. Nothing's changed in 40 years
Silvia leaves with all her clothes. Is very proper and uppity, and yet, after being at their house a few days, she leaves wearing the same clothes she showed up in
