Willie is my favorite of the four Lawrence children. Buddy's a close second. Nancy ... well, let's just say Buddy described her self-absorbed dramas to a T at the end of this episode. Willie is a true-blue friend when the chips are down, compassionate, sincere, and insightful, even if things go awry in his own life often enough.
I think this is an example where the script has nothing to do with the presentation of the actual character as portrayed by this particular actress. The writer is just filling up space or making the doctor say something, or anything authoritative to sound doctor-like.

I've only seen three episodes of this series, and already I hate Nancy. She's worse than Gloria on All in the Family. And as for Jeff, he's a lot like Meathead, only not nearly as liberal. I also want to say that Willie and Buddy are the best kinds of friends anybody could want, because they don't give up on the people pushing them away. Which episodes don't focus on Nancy, so I can give this series a better chance? I haven't hated a character named Nancy this much since Little House on the Prairie.
