Excellent composition and performance, Robert! Love the singing, melody, and finger-picking. It's also an interesting story-song. I wonder how many people Googled Black Bart after hearing this- I know I did.
A fantastic and catchy song my dear friend Robert! Congrats for your very talented and wonderful performance with really nice and interesting lyrics, an enjoyable music moment! Have a lovely weekend, see you soon again, stay safe!🙏🙏🤩
This ballad of mine is based on the true story of the English-born Wild West "gentleman outlaw" Charles E. Boles, known as Black Bart. He left notes containing rhyming comic verse at the scenes of his crimes, signed "Black Bart the P08." He never shot anyone and he disappeared from the scene after being released from prison.
Great job, buddy! You took us on a ride with Bart! Hopefully he can turn himself around some day!! 😇😁 And, you premiered it on my birthday!! Thank you, Robert!!
Wow! What a sensational original here Robert! This harkens back, from a songwriting approach, to Marty Robbins, and those classic story telling songs that somehow have become a scarcity these days. Love that you are telling a story here, and my friend, you do it in impeccably fine fashion! Nicely done!
Hello my dear friend Robert!! What a beautiful vocal of yours and fantastic interpretation on this beautiful song!! Sending my full support to you!! Love and respect Kyle!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Thanks for the comment, Jeff! Interesting to hear about your highwayman ancestor! I've been researching my family tree, but haven't found anything really exciting, other than I am vaguely related to Abraham Lincoln. We share the same ancestors, according to the Free Family Site. They contacted me saying that Mr Lincoln and I are 7th cousins 5 times removed, on my father's side! lol! Not much of a relationship really!
Thank you very much! I originally wrote this as a poem and posted it on several poetry sites. Someone (who knew I also wrote songs) urged me to turn it into a song, and after thinking about it, I decided to do just that. Glad you like it!
The story of Black Bart is magical and continues to be so: 2 hours back i watched a fresh upload of 'Stories of the Century', which was recommended to me by YT. Just for fun... The story was about a highwayman called Black Bart and i found it fascinating. Now i found your kind comment on my latest video, - for which i thank you very much - and came to check out your channel. Flabbergasted to find a song about the self-same Black Bart her,e and such a good one, too! You got my sub, of course. Warmest greetings from an old Westerngirl in India💖Ma
Quite a coincidence, you outline here! I've always been interested in the old wild west, especially the true stories. I'm glad you like my song about Black Bart, and I thank you for your comment! Best wishes from England!

Thanks for creating this engaging story and for writing this awesome song. You are a great story steller through your fantastic songwriting. Have a great Thursday night Robert and thanks again for this gift.
I THINK IT WILL BE AT LEAST ANOTHER WEEK BEFORE I POST ANOTHER VIDEO. I AM BUSY WRITING, AND ALSO CATCHING UP WITH OTHER THINGS IN MY LIFE. BUT I'LL BE BACK!
Fantastic song . We are always intrigued by the highwayman. There are two crossroads near by to where we live that are named after highwaymen. Very nice piece of work Robert and your guitar and voice are a sweet blend. Really cool 😎
Hallo Robert, this is a lovely original song with an excellent rendition my dear friend and very much enjoyed ! 👍👍 BIG like. I wish you peace & health ... Fons.
What a terrific song this is, Robert. This one joins the list of songs I wish I'd written. Big respect from me, my friend.. I love a true story told in song and this ticks all my boxes. Thanks for sharing the words; helps the old ears. This will stand the test of time, Robert.
Robert, what an interesting character and song Black Bart is- I love the PO8 - if he were a graffiti writer today that could be his tag. If you have researched this (and i’m assuming you have) did you come across any of his poems? would love to hear those. Very interesting song and catchy melody - your talent is amazing
Thank you for the comment, Harriet! Glad you like my song! Black Bart left rhyming notes in the empty strongboxes, after he had blasted them open and taken the valuables. One such note read: "I've laboured long and hard for bread, for honour, and for riches. But on my corns too long you've tread, you fine-haired sons of bitches." Hardly Shakespeare or Tennyson, but quite amusing! lol!
I've had accounts with Wells Fargo for years and could easily be persuaded their entire corporate management structure is riddled with "reformed" highwaymen. 🐷
Congratulations ! 🎊 👍👏💯
Thank you! Glad you like!
