- Former member of parliament Mbhazima Shilowa says a government of national unity is still a form of coalition. This comes after ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement which has drawn mixed reaction.

If parliament sittings are anything to go by, this could end up a disaster. These sittings are a complete joke, finger pointing politics, apartheid, Racism and no discussions on how to fix South Africa. South African politicians are far to power hungry and self gain to worry about the people. Most of them can only point at faults and not answers.

I dont understand why we r going to be forced into this. If parties didnt do enough to get what the top 2 parties did, they shouldn't have a seat at the table unfortunately. South africa choose 2 parties that should be governing RSA no one else ! Anc should give up control and share what with DA as south africa CLEARY voted for it.

Only 21% of 2024 voters chose DA... The other 79% didn't.... Arethmitically over a 3rd of the voting SAns do not like or trust DA to run the country's government.

@@gavenmoretlo7342 No problem if men are hungry for power. The problem is that these types have no knowledge of what to do to build an economy, society and state. Mostly they think that development and progress will just happen eventually, while they sit in the office looking out the window. I suspect that if one were to go back and look at all ANC documents since 1990 one will find all the right things in them. If those in control of the state cannot execute, then nothing will happen. No implementation means no progress. Progress does not happen. It is a result of what humans do.
A Government of National Unity without Zuma and Malema will be a win for the majority who voted against them.
A government of national unity without Zuma and Malema is a government without 25% of the voters. It is not a government of national unity. It does not represent everyone.

If parties dont agree on gnu and mandates aligned to consititution ( not party manifestos not aligned to constitution), they must not be sworn in . Manifestos should have been checked against Constitution alignment and IEC shouldn't register those that conflict with Constitution
Constitution is not an authority on the manifestos of the parties, because the constitution is a capture document which represents elite classes to the exclusion of the working class and the poor

The ANC had no other choice but to ask opposition parties to help them manage South Africa. This country is in real trouble economically, socially, and in terms of security and the Russians, Chinese, and the Iranians are not willing to help because they also have their own internal problems. The ANC made a huge mistake by thinking their membership of BRICS will solve all their economic woes, I also think this GNU that was agreed upon last night, was actually agreed upon long before the election.
BRICS PLUS is our future not america or europe.

Government of National Unity is just different words for Coalition Government.The motive remains to collaborate with the DA and to exclude perceived trouble makers.

A GNU makes sense to bring about changes that will further protect the Constitution and various chapters against what we have experienced since it was drafted. It could be a positive development if the parties and their individuals put SA first.
