This is a great video better than Solis help and videos I have followed the video to the letter and and the batteries are now not being fully charged even at midday when loads of PV power the PV power drops right of to just above loads being used ie 500w so tried time of charge run and the system did limit and drew all power from the grid, changed the setting to stop and it then limited ( time setting charge 07:00-1800 discharge 18:00-07:00) so can’t wait to see new video with more in depth instruction of the settings

Yes you can, that's the proper setup. Put all the AC load under your Backup Output for power protection. The hybrid will maintain your battery SOC, it will only charge if you your falls below the set value. Sample, SOC=80%, the hybrid will keep it at 80%. The 20% will be charged by your PV. If No PV , then it won't discharge beyond it's SOC level.

Hello. I assembled a 48V battery myself from 16 Lifero4 cells. Capacity 105 Ah. And installed bms seplos 16s on it. I connected it to the inverter. CAN shows ok. Can you please tell me what should be the settings for such a battery?
Follow your battery data sheet on per cell level. Then multiply it by 16. Or, try to choose some of the battery setting options like Pylontech, Dyness or GSL. Most bms shared the same firmware with them.
@@geragozov you need to follow your cell data sheet based on your battery. Now, some bms manufacturer “patterned” their firmware on some well know brand, thus you can use then as well whichever it works. Consult your seller, as per our local support. Using User Define is not supported and would make your hardware void its warranty.
Hi Thanks for a great video I have followed through and battery seems to be working in self use mode. However my PV is 0. I have plugged in one string and they are reading around 300v - not sure why the inverter is not detecting them? Any advice as I think something is off somewhere in the settings?
Kindly check your Voc first without connecting it to the hardware. Please use the provided mc4 that comes with your hardware as it end points. Now, if dc1 or dc2 has an issue on , you need to inform your seller right away to claim your warranty.

@@magars_on_tour You can use the Timer Settings to control your charge and discharge. You have 3 timing controls under User Define or Grid Priority backup setup.
HI Mark, just had the Solis RHI5g hybrid inverter fitted along with a SMILE-BAT-10.1P battery. having issues as i dont beleive it has been set up correctly. the system shows all 4 lines of power (solar in, battery, grid and house) and will utilise the panels to the full potential when battery is charging however when battery is fully charged it only draws what the house is using from the panels and doesnt seem to put anything in the grid. The interface doesnt show CAN OK on battery or percentage and doesnt show RS485 on the house section. House rund from battery fine during evening/nightg but want to know how to fix the issue. is there anything you can advise ?
You have 2 issues at hand, incompatible battery and limiter is enabled. To rectify , Remove the canbus cable, have your battery switch to lead acid. Disable your limiter to let your hybrid export powerr.

Hi Bhav, to prevent Solis Hybrid from charging your battery, just remove the AC Grid Charge function upon exit. But using a Polyntech battery, i would suggest to use the Backup Mode instead and enable the SOC value to your liking, then enable your AC Grid charge upon exit to maintain the battery SOC as set earlier. Above condition will only charge your battery using PV.

@@mistrybhavesh21 Solis Hybrid looks at the grid only when grid is available. Your backup output is powered by grid, its always bypass mode when you have a grid. You may refer this to your manual. 1. Backup -> Soc % (Battery , Load, Grid) - maintains your SOC% 2. Self Use -> Load , Battery , Grid) Thats how your hybrid function works. It always prioritize your load. When grid is not available, the. Battery will be use to power your Backup Load.

@@TBITS1 Using the Grid to charge your battery, its based on SOC settings on your Hybrid. If you set your SOC to 80%, the 20% will be used. It will stop discharging when it reaches 80%. GRid Charging will only charge your battery in the event you have a grid interruption and the SOC drops below the intended setup. E.G. 80% SOC, no grid --> SOC drops to 60%. When Grid available, your Grid will charge it to 80% regardless if you have a PV or not.
Hi, I can see at the end of your video you limited the backflow to 0W however it was still exporting electricity to the grid. Do you know why the inverter still shows export to the grid? Thank you
You cant prevent export to the grid, but is value is low 20-50w depending on your load behavior. Your limiter is just a feedback mechanism, there is always delta on your load vs reading.
@@MarkMinoza Thanks for your reply. My RHI-6K-48ES-5G inverter always exporting to the grid even if I set up the backflow to 0W or 1000W. It is still exporting sometimes 3000W or more. Have you ever heard of this problem? I was contacting Solis service and they never heard of this problem. Thank you
@@photoh22 Backflow should be 0000. You can see if your exporting power on your app. there are a lot of possibilities. what i can suggest is to send a video of your concern to them. Also, on your LCD screen, if your exporting, your meter icon > house load. Use Self Use to instruct the Hybrid to consume only the generated power not export it.

@@tk5tk588 the Solis Hybrid On Grid is primarily a Grid Tie Inverter. it will work automatically as a GTi regardless if no battery is present or you have one. no special setting is required.
Thanks for the video Mark. We had this installation put in June last year and it does not seem to have saved me any money. I dont think it is configured correctly. At times that batteries seem to be dumping the power saved in them back out to the grid. I get nothing for this so all that energy is just being wasted. I want the batteries to keep the power and just use it for running the lights etc in the home. I dont want to send anything back to the grid but I cant work out how to stop it.
I have a similar problem set to self use other settings of and time of charge stop but excess PV does not go to charge the batteries, start charging from PV in the morning then stops after about an hours waits about an hour then starts again for half an hours the stops for rest of the day and batteries only charged to 45% when should charged to 100% (3 pylon U3000) So the must some other setting not setup correctly any ideas

why in the battery settings you set such a high charging and discharging current of 65A. After all, the battery charging current should be no more than 10 percent of the capacity, that is, in your case it should be 12A
Im using NMC type battery. I set the discharge based on my hybrid max discharge capability. You can control/limit your charge/discharge on backup function on timer settings.

Battery however can be used to send power to your grid and limit to offset your grid usage. Yan po ang purpose kaya may settings kayo. Im using backup mode with 70% soc. The 30% will go to the grid. Once soc is 70%, it will stop using the battery and wait for the pv to charge it the following morning.

35firmware, LEad-acid, user-def batt, don't want to charge from grid(((( 44V, grid charge set is ON - but nothing happen(((. Also OHBV Error soo much issue for this inverter!!!
The hybrid wont charge if you disable the grid charging ON. If your battery is Lead Acid, you cant use the User Define Battery settings. It will have an error. Set your Grid Standard properly. Use either UL208 or UL240 check your voltage) if youre having issues with your grid sync.

S5 is a bit strict when it comes to battery, you can check your data sheet on your battery and set it under User Define.

Puede, kung naka CANBus, have the Reserve SOC to 100%, it won't discharge. Enable grid charging.

I have a Solis System installed but not configured properly from what I can see.
I have the following battery and want to use it as self use mode only and not to charge from grid.
Battery : Pylontech US3000C
What options would I need to check on my inverter to see if all is configured correctly only want to use in self use mode with no charging from grid.

Hi Bhav, to prevent Solis Hybrid from charging your battery, just remove the AC Grid Charge function upon exit.
But using a Polyntech battery, i would suggest to use the Backup Mode instead and enable the SOC value to your liking, then enable your AC Grid charge upon exit to maintain the battery SOC as set earlier.
Above condition will only charge your battery using PV.

@@mistrybhavesh21 Solis Hybrid looks at the grid only when grid is available. Your backup output is powered by grid, its always bypass mode when you have a grid. You may refer this to your manual.
1. Backup -> Soc % (Battery , Load, Grid) - maintains your SOC%
2. Self Use -> Load , Battery , Grid)
Thats how your hybrid function works. It always prioritize your load.
When grid is not available, the. Battery will be use to power your Backup Load.

@@TBITS1 Using the Grid to charge your battery, its based on SOC settings on your Hybrid. If you set your SOC to 80%, the 20% will be used. It will stop discharging when it reaches 80%. GRid Charging will only charge your battery in the event you have a grid interruption and the SOC drops below the intended setup. E.G. 80% SOC, no grid --> SOC drops to 60%. When Grid available, your Grid will charge it to 80% regardless if you have a PV or not.
Hi, I can see at the end of your video you limited the backflow to 0W however it was still exporting electricity to the grid. Do you know why the inverter still shows export to the grid? Thank you
You cant prevent export to the grid, but is value is low 20-50w depending on your load behavior. Your limiter is just a feedback mechanism, there is always delta on your load vs reading.
@@MarkMinoza Thanks for your reply. My RHI-6K-48ES-5G inverter always exporting to the grid even if I set up the backflow to 0W or 1000W. It is still exporting sometimes 3000W or more. Have you ever heard of this problem? I was contacting Solis service and they never heard of this problem. Thank you
@@photoh22 Backflow should be 0000. You can see if your exporting power on your app. there are a lot of possibilities. what i can suggest is to send a video of your concern to them. Also, on your LCD screen, if your exporting, your meter icon > house load. Use Self Use to instruct the Hybrid to consume only the generated power not export it.

@@tk5tk588 the Solis Hybrid On Grid is primarily a Grid Tie Inverter. it will work automatically as a GTi regardless if no battery is present or you have one. no special setting is required.

Use certified Battery brand for Solis. Generic BMS will give you problems.
Thanks for the video Mark. We had this installation put in June last year and it does not seem to have saved me any money. I dont think it is configured correctly. At times that batteries seem to be dumping the power saved in them back out to the grid. I get nothing for this so all that energy is just being wasted. I want the batteries to keep the power and just use it for running the lights etc in the home. I dont want to send anything back to the grid but I cant work out how to stop it.
What battery type are you using? Its easy to configure the hybrid to act as UPS mode.
Probably it is exporting.

Yes, im using it until now, no issues so far. All household load is handled by the solis hybrid.

S5 is strict on certified battery list. Configure your battery under Lead Acid settings. Check your data sheet for charging parameters.

Choose “Self Use”, excess power goes to the battery. Or Backup mode if your using lithium with canport enabled.

I have a similar problem set to self use other settings of and time of charge stop but excess PV does not go to charge the batteries, start charging from PV in the morning then stops after about an hours waits about an hour then starts again for half an hours the stops for rest of the day and batteries only charged to 45% when should charged to 100% (3 pylon U3000)
So the must some other setting not setup correctly any ideas

Sir Mark, paanu po ang settings kung gusto kong magdidischarge lamang si battery sa tuwing brownout sa gabi ang grid. Kasi current status ng set up idischarge niya muna paggabi until mareach ang DOD tapus timing yung brownout kaya di siya makastart up kung low voltage na during brownout sa gabi.

Yes, it will act as a regular GTi, pag walang grid, it will rely on your pv. Flashing is a sign that your PV power is lacking. Hindi po nakayanan ng PV mag supply vs load.

why in the battery settings you set such a high charging and discharging current of 65A. After all, the battery charging current should be no more than 10 percent of the capacity, that is, in your case it should be 12A
Im using NMC type battery. I set the discharge based on my hybrid max discharge capability. You can control/limit your charge/discharge on backup function on timer settings.

Just enable the Control Parameter to run your backup. But dont expect it to be stable dahil wala kang battery. Kukuha lahat sa pv pag walang Grid. Pag mas malaki ang load vs pv ourput. Flashing ang load nyo.

@@monaresernestjhon2848 you can, by default, the eps is bypass pag may grid. Hindi gagamitin ni Solis ang battery nyo.. Battery will only be use during power interruptions. Battery however can be used to send power to your grid and limit to offset your grid usage. Yan po ang purpose kaya may settings kayo. Im using backup mode with 70% soc. The 30% will go to the grid. Once soc is 70%, it will stop using the battery and wait for the pv to charge it the following morning.

I have four AGM LPM batteries connected in series, 100Ah, 12V.
Floating(buffer) charge 13.5-13.8V (amperage of floating charge 10% of capacity 1/10C)
Cycle charge 14.5-14.9V (amperage of cycle charge 10% of capacity 1/10C)
What values should be setup here:
Battery Capacity: 100Ah
Battery OVV_Pro: ?
Battery UNV_Pro: 42V
Floating Voltage: ~54V
Floating Current: 10A
I_Max Discharge: ? A
I_Max Charge: ? A
Equalizing Voltage: ? V

and what values can be used in option "Time Charging"

Ill just explain those missing items youve. Please refer everything to your battery data sheet.
1. Battery OVV_Pro = Over Voltage Proction
2. I_max Discharge = Maximum Current your battery can provide at 1C
3. I_max Charge = Maximum Current your battery can handle
4. Equalizing Voltage = Bulk Charge

5. i_charge = refer to #2
6. I_Discharge = you can control the value on how big/small the current you want to send power to the Load.

Hi, to all hybrid Solis inverter users. Paki advice po Kun ano ang setting Ng inverter, kasi namamatay siya kon Gabi pagkatapos ma abot na Niya ang back up level percentage. Hindi automatically pumapasok ang power Ng utility. Nashutdown ang inverter pag Wala Ng current supply from the battery along Lalo na sa Gabi... Ano kaya ang setting nito. Pls advice po kung papano..
Dapat po naka enable ang Backup sa Control Parameter. Also, make sure na ang firmware nyo is 340024 stable release.

35firmware, LEad-acid, user-def batt, don't want to charge from grid(((( 44V, grid charge set is ON - but nothing happen(((. Also OHBV Error soo much issue for this inverter!!!
The hybrid wont charge if you disable the grid charging ON. If your battery is Lead Acid, you cant use the User Define Battery settings. It will have an error. Set your Grid Standard properly. Use either UL208 or UL240 check your voltage) if youre having issues with your grid sync.
