It may be tricky to make... but if the outside paddles had MORE spinning resistance, it may give the mice more confidence to move to the middle.

just make one of the wings heavier it would provide a gap to make it to the middle and make it seem steady enough to walk across
It would only take 2 extra spacers flanking the outer paddles, and push them close enough to just barely touch; that should provide a little bit of resistance. Best fine-tune the placement though, before deploying the trap~
Probably could just tape a quarter to one of the the outer paddles and that would stabilize them more
I thought about adding a couple fishing weights on one paddle on each end. someone said a quarter. Great idea.

Final boss mouse!
Place a light weight on end one of the "Y- wings" on each paddle. This will make one wing of each paddle point to the bottom and provides a gap in the top part of the "Y". This gives clear view of the bait in the middle. The mice will (should?) balance in the gap and then walk across to the middle "Y"wing. Then gets caught when both paddles spin... Just a guess, though..

I had the same thought. By weighting the paddles, they will "reset" to a position that makes it appear that there is a single, steady platform to walk on. Rather than adding a weight, you could also print one of the paddle legs longer or thicker, so the paddle itself is the extra weight. Also, I'd grease the rod with peanut or sesame oil, for better lubrication, and the scent will act as bait. (Use oil from an Indian or Chinese store, Refined US oils don't smell like anything.)

What a great variation on a spinning trap!
i think an improvement is to make one of the wings on the two outer padles heavier to make it seem like its more steady allowing the mouse to reach the middle and then its too late to back out
If you want to make this better, do the same thing as the double-detent dunk trap where the mouse has to step on the trigger to reach the bait and release the whole plank. In this case, you'd have a rod with weak spring locking the outer paddles in place until the center paddle goes out of alignment, pulls the rod out and releases the whole paddle assembly for a half-turn.

"Version 2" of the "Dizzy Dunker" ?? Haha!
I actually have a couple of ideas...
1) Make the "fins" on the two outside "tumblers" shorter - It will make them more reactive.
2) Make the "fins" on the center "tumbler" slightly longer - making the mice reach further out for the food.
3) Add some small circular holes to the outside of the center tumbler fins to contain the food (PB) so it doesn't slide on the flaps (especially in warm weather).

My initial thought was that the outside paddles need to give a false confidence to the mouse. Some people offered some of my early ideas. Something super simple that might work, don’t have any fins on the outside, just a cylinder/straw that spins. It will always seem stable but will spin when the mouse is counting on it.
Should you put ramps on both sides?
Inspired by the earliest area of Undertale, I thought about stretching some sort of paper over a bucket which will break in the spot a mouse puts his full weight on. The rest of the paper would remain intact.
His pet mice should be like a Seal Team with all the Special Forces training they recieve!

I wonder if having some spinning bushings on the bar between the inside of the bucket and the outer spinners would make it more difficult for the mice to get a grip on the bar once they reach the outer spinner, so they can't go back.
I always just use glue traps with baloney in the middle.
