About Dead End Hip Hop:
No scripts. It's pure unfiltered hip hop conversations and album reviews. No politics. No BS. We Are The People. - Видеоклипы
Myke C Town and Cal Cuchesta had beef and made RUclips diss tracks way before RUclips diss tracks were popular #neverforget
SomeonePunchedMe u a real one lol
Not for money though. That wasnt to build a career
Shifty failure he never said it was bruh
That wasn't myke tho. Do your homework homie
I never thought Jake Paul would ever be mentioned here.
JohanMerito7 No one did
JohanMerito7 its not necessarily cause of him either...
theyre running out of material. which shouldnt be happening there were so many albums that dropped the last few days. but here we are w this doodooo
The LaughingJoke so they can't talk about about topics that affect hip hop culture? K
Lmao exactly, I was hella confused when I looked at my notifications.
Get Myke C. on everyday struggle to argue against Joe and AK.
Victor Garcia and Ken also
Chief Miyagi Ken and Joe will agree
Naa, they don't deserve Myke
I'd have loved that. That would have been amazing.
you choose death
the lighting of this era of dehh is soooo good to me. it makes their conversations feel more important. fells ethereal. definitive.
100%
I miss it honestly
It feels so much more intimate and down-to-earth this setup, it felt much more like just a group of friends just shooting the shit.
That Cash Me Outside girl is now trying to become a rapper as well. Basically, meaning that people are using hip hop as a way to make an easy cash grab. I'm all for people getting their money, but people like that are destroying the culture of hip hop.
nobody ever said any of this shit.... I AGREE SO DAMN MUCH WITH THIS BRUHHH
James Burgess Blac Chyna wants to become a rapper and have Nicki Minaj as her manager. Like, wtf
James Burgess exactly.
m0ni But the point is that this is going to KEEP on happening. People don't repsect our artform. Its too easy to be in the industry and people gone keep disrespecting it for money.
Jus ignore em and hope everyone joins us. Simple.
Spectrum Pulse should be a voice actor
Jake Paul overtaking Kendrick Lamar is an example of the world burning down in 2017
Ahhhh, when 2017 was an awfull year, what good times, 2017 compared to 2020 was a wonderfull year
@@fax0_max114 bro its been like five years and its still 2020
It was literally just a fad. Look at where jake Paul is in music compared to Kendrick. All we had to do is wait it out
The Nu Metal point Spectrum Pulse made is so insanely accurate that it`s scary as fuck to think about. Rock is STILL trying to recover from that time and as a Fan of both Rock and Rap, I don`t want it to happen to Rap.
Thomas Rotten right now it should be the grunge era of rap after the 2000s (the hairmetal of rap) instead the hairmetal era extended and possibly got worse in the 2010s despite the popularity of Kdot, C the rapper and Jcole, aka the grunge or thrash metal bands of rap.
@@leetorry hip-hop is definitely in the nu-metal phase now with $uicideboy$ and XXXTentacion
Odd Future and Hopsin was like the punk/grunge phase of hip-hop
next is the metalcore phase i know it
hopefully the underground part of hip-hop keeps progressing tho just like how metal's underground has been progressing especially with their post-punk, death metal and black metal subgenres
@@somekid7 I know this was 5months ago bro, but yea hiphop is definitely in the metalcore scene now. Scarlxrd and Ghostemane are prime examples of this taking place
Wow, look at where we are now, fuck.
Damn that second half of the video was so real ....
wassup Meami
Fuck, they got real at the very end there...
Fans of Jake Paul aren't huge hip-hop fans and don't represent hip hop as a whole. They're just a bunch pre-teens who will grow out of liking him. The reasons why his song charted so high is because of his fans and the notoriety. No one actually thinks this is good or real hiphop. The song has a lot of views but has mostly dislikes.
LJC it's the trend that's the problem
This was hands down the scariest DEHH video I ever watched
I LOVE A CROSSOVER!! S/O Spectrum Pulse. One of the best reviewers on the tube. DeadendHipHop for prez. 2020
So true DEHH, The Needle drop, Shawn Cee, and Spectrum Pulse are my favorite music critics.
Nicholas Katsikas big quint too
Nicholas Katsikas Shawn Cee is a worse BIGQUINT
Erik sorry but at least Shawn Cee can actually review an album on time.
Blitz Krieg also big quint just gets hype to every album. Shawn is actually honest and dislikes stuff just as much as he likes stuff, and actually gives real criticism and not just "if you like this artist, you'll like this album, if you don't like this artist, you won't like this album"
That rock analogy was mint
History will always repeat itself, and as humans we are doomed to let the cycle continue :/
LakeOne im scared bro :(
So interesting to see how this aged. Jake Paul’s “rap career” ended within a year after this song dropped. Makes me think about how long his “boxing career” is actually gonna last once the money stops rolling in. Either way, everything Rod said was 100% on the money
The short answer is NO!!!!
Nicholas Katsikas
Long Answer:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
MK ULTRA SOLDIER II: x 1 hun'ned
I know what y'all meant...or I hope I do. But it came off as that WE don't deserve HIM. Like hip hop doesn't deserve Jake Paul. You know since he is soooooo goood. *sarcasm
I am so with Myke on this. And the guy from Spectrum Pulse at the end really made me realize whats about to happen.
@Kyle Knockaert They are also circumventing and completely ignoring other factors. "Where is rock now?" Well rock died in the 60s when Disco came around that died in the 80s when the new wave and post disco came around along with hair metal that died to grunge. Britpop in the 90s... These guys musical knowledge is so limited they shouldn't discuss this.
The answer is NO
Lol didn't expect to see DEHH when I saw a notification featuring Jake Paul.
Ya, this was a good discussion though.
ImStadoc Oh I agree! Just wasn't expecting it. I like the depth they took it to.
Damn spectrum pulse has some strong and solid opinions, great guy
Cal and pink guy are parodies joji and fantano actually with the CULTURE
At least Filthy Frank had a point to prove and actually had talent beyond shitting on things (which was obviously a joke but still), that doesn't go with 95% of derivative content creators
"What's not authentic?"
England isn't a city.
Hip Hop NEEDS more unity. A combined effort and maybe even a coalition of artists (new and old), critics, fans/music lovers, 'taste makers', journalist, and others (nationally & internationally) who's main objective is to preserve the integrity, and authenticity of the culture. We CAN keep hip hop mainstream and still maintain it's essential cultural ingredients as well as its history. Let's not make the same mistakes we've made with other genres...hip hop has too many examples to fall prey to the same bs other genres have
Darrel Be nope
Darrel Be Well said man
Darrel Be I think the biggest problem is major labels. Whenever a major label notices a trend they beat it into the fucking dirt. That's why there's so much trap, mumble rap, whatever you want to call it out nowadays. It's trendy and it continues to sell. Maybe if more rappers as well as fans who are genuinely passionate about the music decided to promote themselves and each other, rather than rely on labels, it could possibly spark something.
someones gonna come up & change hip hop again tyler the creator did it
somebody out their is gonna do it again i can feel it
earlyman sweatshirt My money is on Brockhampton.
That title for the video had my chest hurting from laughter.
That video became so popular because it became a meme with the "england is my city" i wish they incorporated that into the discussion
Bryce Campos not really because everything is a meme nowadays
Tupac Shakur wrong
This is refreshing to have spectrum pulse as a guest. No other music reviewer seems to consistently cover so much detail on reviews than spectrum pulse. Especially in his premables. Nice Work Dehh as well
Diss tracks are a trend on youtube like prank channels they will eventually die out. No need for concern guys.
True.
Very True Homie
Here in 2020, congrats, we survived that era
The only RUclipsr is unironically keep doing them was PewDiePie. Thankfully it died out
i dont think the mainstream ever took rap seriously.
Short answer: no
"They gon' bite like vultures" Quavo tried to to warn us 😩
@Yung Wavy
There were multiple “warnings”, that preceded (verb. - definition: to come before), ‘Quavo’, and his “warning.” ‘Quavo’ simply witnessed the prior “warnings”, of vultures throughout
Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B, Soul, Rock, and other genres of music. He then proceeded to make, an analyzation. He finally made an observation, reflected back to the “warnings”, documented, expressed, and then presented it. 😐🧐
I have to disagree with Myke. "We" isn't much as "we" as he thinks we are. A lot of this "we" is middle schoolers, junior high kids, and high schoolers. Therefore, when it comes to edgy, immature, reckless music blowing up, it's largely due to the fact that of youth eating it up (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, we've all been kids before). Also, as modest says. The traditional industry has and will continue to push dumbed down/toxic/complacent music because .... well, it sells and it fits the agenda. So, please, don't ever put the blame on "us" or "we," that's "their" bullshit.
doomfan12345 thank you
Don't put this shit on us
Fookie Bookie It's not you but it's your age demographic that's doing this. He's a Disney channel/RUclips star, who else is watching this shit? Senior citizens?
Myke is correct. Hot garbage has been rewarded for far too long. All the while real artists like Skyzoo, Injury Reserve, Blu & Exile among others have to toil quietly and get nowhere near the recognition.
People should demand more from their money spent on art. Talent being first and foremost.
Mark was great. He's very informative and self aware.
What's bothering me EVEN MORE is that everyone is pretty much doing diss tracks for drama-views.
edit: don't do my man Lil Dicky dirty like that. He can actually rap, check out his freestyles.
edit #2: Spectrum Pulse gets a sub for that final comment alone. Bang on.
Facts Lil Dicky actually works hard on his music
Real Human I don't know why Myke trashes on him, he's doing something different. He might not be everyone's cup of tea, but he's not trash is he?
Real Human I shat on Lil Dicky until I heard Pillow Talk. That track had me dyin' and it all clicked. Respect.
Brandon Donnelly great argument
Aboood165 Invaild
please do more with spectrum pulse! this video was amazing. best conversation in a while
RUclipsrs thinking they can rap is disrespectful to hip hop
It deserved disrespect
There is even dancers who tried to rap and people love this shit
Wulbulbul Lubbubwublub yessir
can't believe I lived to see the day a Jake Paul DEHH video came before an Injury Reserve album review smh
I love Spectrum Pulse and that last comment at the end of the video was SPOT ON and so smart and intuitive. I would have never thought about it like that until he said it. Great conversation guys.
That point that Mark made at the end legitimately scared me a little bit
Fuck that ending point that spectrum pulse brought up was fucking deep
I Just Gave My Nigga Head all the bad bitches boo when you rap.
People need to demand more for their money. Rap will become obsolete if jokes continue to get famous for making stupid tracks. And all of the Artists who actually care will be stuck
I don't agree with the part about Rock falling off because of Nu-Metal. I think the main reason Rock fell off is that (since the late 90's) Rock kinda stopped being innovative and edgy, which makes it less attractive to young people.
What a pleasant surprise to see Mark, never expected that. You guys are awesome and I really appreciate all of you. Dope discussion
I love this conversation, in fact I love all the conversation you guys have. We need more stuff like this.
That comparison to Rock music and it's transition was chilling. People like him have millions of stans that will eat up everything they do, so stuff like this will just keep spreading because more and more people like him will hop on the trend. And because of outsiders calling this legitimate hip-hop, it hurts the image of the genre. Until hip-hop fans get a grip and demand for more music that actually sounds like they put in real effort into it, it's not gonna stop
I agree with Myke.
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for introducing me to Spectrum Pulse too, really liked his input. Just subscribed!
The guy at the end had some serious knowledge.. What a great discussion.
One thing Myke and Mark failed to bring up to the audience is that the majority of Jake Paul's audience is tween girls. If you look at this live performance there isn't anyone over the age of 15 there. Young kids are always going to buy what's sold to them by their pop figures as being "cool", and with youtube that has become increasingly easy to do. Eventually they will grow up and look at how horrendous their taste where and Jake's fanbase will die out due to maturity, especially since he doesnt have the necessary talent to make any kind of artistic pivot into anything respectable.
This is just a byproduct of Hip-Hop becoming the most popular genre. Now all the vultures are going to come in and try to make money off it. I don't think there is anyway to stop it. Some other genre has to come in and take hip-hop's place for this kind of stuff to stop.
Also think Jake Paul is more of a product of Lil Yachty more than anything. Lil Yachty showed people you don't even have to be on tempo to be a successful rapper. Combine that with youtube popularity and fandom among tweens/teens and the youtube fake beef phenomenon, it was a perfect storm to create a monster like Jake Paul.
As to the point at the end about nu-metal being the downfall of rock, I don't believe that to be the case. After nu-metal populairty died down, the 2nd wave of indie music came in and boosted rock up for his last stand. After that I think people got tired of the bland reverb soaked sound of rock. It became too sterilized or too rooted in nostalgia. Bands, especially in the mainstream, forgot how to innovate and look forward. Hip-hop still has plenty of new sounds being developed every year to keep the genre fresh.
Y'all just don't understand really. He didn't get rich from Disney. He got rich from Vine. Then when vine died he started RUclips. He gets 400+ million view a Month and he is RUclips preferred which mean he is getting probably around 6$ per 1000 views which equates to 2.4 million dollars a month. Plus his merch sells alot too. That's how he makes most of his money.
Rap is Pop. This is what you get when you're the top genre at the time you get this.
Phenomenal point there at the end. It just clicked with everyone
This shows how outdated everyone but Myke C-Town is. Didn’t even know that youtubers go on tour lmao
Ken looked so stressed after that nu metal comparison
Great video, looking forward to more convos like these
Didn't expect much from this topic but I was pleasantly surprised. This discussion was genuinely interesting
23:41 Breezy: "if only Feefo warned us about this Jake Paul shit. Psychic powers my ass"
I was not at all expecting DEHH to do a video about that dude lmaoooooo
Happy to see the collaboration!
oo didnt expect this collab!! loving it guys
I did NOOOOOT expect this collab. But it's AWESOME
Throw Away, Mark has talked about DEHH on quite a few of his videos. I feel like this was going to happen. So cool.
Came back to this after Spectrum Pulse readdressed it with theneedledrop a while back and I think it's a little eerie when the riff between underground and mainstream rappers is predicted. I'm not sure the "Jake Paul youtube star" has stuck around, though there are a lot of RUclipsr rappers, but mostly I think the trend of getting rich fast through rap actually has been a problem that has continued. Additionally, you think of someone like Tom MacDonald, who uses rap, but projects a very alt "white" mentality in his lyrics, which seems very counterculture to hip hop.
Mark's point at the end is very good, though I think a lot of things led to the downfall of rock (the influence of dance music in later 2000s e.g.). But I don't think hip hop asked for Jake Paul, this is just a side effect of it being the most popular genre, right?
Amazing video. Must share around so people can get some light shed on everything going on in music.
Yessss. Get back to these conversations guyss. I haven't even watched the video yet but 20 secs in Myke already speaking facts
I came from the future. They failed to become big, Rod was partly right in this
This might wind up in some doc 30 years from now when we reflect on what went wrong with hip hop culture. I think people really underestimate the power of viewership, content marketing (as "influencers") and aggregation. With streaming being the most important barometer of music and as playlists curated by professionals becomes the norm, it'll be easier to circumvent the industry (which can be a good thing) but that would require average fans supporting the stuff that isn't as catchy and microwaveable, which on average doesn't happen. We will still have our big name stars but I can see this jokey white guy rap bubble really getting big because there's already a jokey regular rap thing currently.
I love the conversation here, and the question about the current state of hip hop.
The real example is Jazz and Smooth Jazz. That's where hip hop will be eventually, but all music goes through that.
Welcome to being the most popular genre of music. It happened to rock and it’s happening to hip hop before hip hop dies in ten years
H i p H i p
... hooray?
sorry im leavin
Bagelstein yay!
Super Duper Murph Thought I was buggin
*Pimp Pimp
Spectrum: it wasn't even discounted 😂😂😂😂
Great conversation. Love you guys
Myke is like damn, face of rap is gonna be whack, Ken out here like damn, face of rap is gonna be white
Here's my thought: Hip-Hop is in the best place it's been in for a very long time, and at the same time, it's in the worst. Regarding the "worst" part, they pretty much explained that side in the video, but for the "best" side, I believe it's in a really good place because Hip-Hop is so diverse now that there's literally something for everyone. Don't like Mainstream? Listen to Underground. Don't like Trap? Listen to Boom-Bap. Etc.
And in my opinion, as long as there are still CORE HIP-HOP FANS that truly care about the culture and the art-form, and as long as there are still rappers who do the same (Kendrick, Cole, Joey, Danny, RTJ, Earl, Ab-Soul, Isaiah, etc.), what people refer to as "real" Hip-Hop won't be going anywhere. I'm really glad that Hip-Hop music is so diverse now, but I do agree that that really does open doors for (what are in my opinion) trash rappers and jokers like Lil Yatchy, Lil Uzi Vert, Kodak Black, etc. who disrespect those who came before them and literally shit on rapping as an artform, saying they could make whole songs just saying "yuh" over and over again, and their fans would eat it up regardless.
tl;dr Hip-Hop is in a good and bad place at the same time, but will last as long as actual MCs stick around and core fans keep supporting them.
I just realized that without Myke this channel would be way less intersting. Thats an insightful dude
that ending point really just blew my mind and really has me scared for the future of hip hop jesus that was a great connection
I think conflating lil dicky with jake paul is pretty silly
damn that last point....... fuck....
it's like the apocalypse for good rap music.
No, this discussion was needed. A lot of great points brought up.
If you think this video should be deleted because the topic shouldn't even be discussed, watch from 23:40 on. This is not something that should just be dismissed. This can turn into an actual irreversible problem for the genre as a whole. Fans of rap and hip hop should be a lot more concerned about this
JUST COLLABORATE WITH BIGQUINT ALREADY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
enjoyed the pdocast with this guy aswell. great ep!
Thank you DEHH for making this to spread awareness. I didn't even know about this guy till recently and man we need to make a stand on how this shouldn't be a get free money scam and take rap music more seriously. We needed to act earlier but better late then never
Man looking back on this video I remember how bad a route hip hop could’ve gone down in 2017.
I fell in love w hip hop in 2013 & to this day 2017 is by far my least favorite year of hip hop I’ve been around for.
It rly became a commodity like you guys talked about where it was exploited by everyone and anyone for fame and money.
Jake Paul, Lil Tay, Woah Vicky, Bhad Bhabie, Ricegum.
The RUclipsrs making super wack, successful rap songs.
The white girls trying to act stereotypically “black” to get attention & it working.
On top of that SoundCloud was rly blowing up and although I do enjoy a lot of artists that came out of that, there was a very easy image to fit at that time to blow up also centered mostly on dumb antics to get attention, like 6ix9ine.
That whole time period was so bad for me I remember hating that year until about the midpoint when more albums I rly loved came out (Flower Boy, 4:44, KRIT, etc.)
I’m so glad this trend of “everyone and their grandmothers a rapper” has mostly died out now and it seems mainstream talent is definitely better than what it was a couple years back.
I think it's worth mentioning that Jake Paul's fan base is mainly 10-15 year old girls
I first looked at the video title and laughed but the final point drove home for me. A more complex discussion than what I was expecting, I am also one of those people who thought Jake & Logan Paul were just passing trends but it's clear that they're not going to stop. We need to build up artists who follow what the original message of hip-hop was and prove that it's not just about what's trending on social media.
I love this conversation! I'm a filmmaker and I actually have a screenplay that's largely about this phenomenon.
Bro Jake Paul is a meme. Lmfao. He will die. But I understand the argument of just rapping to get bigger when you're already huge. Like if PewDiePie decided to make a rock song it would still do big numbers because he's already a polarized figure.
At least Vanilla Ice had bars
Yea Yea he really did he really did
Man great discussion!
YESS I LOVE BOTH THESE CHANNELS
Did I miss something??? I never heard of Jake Paul
Suburamo15 youre not alone
Well stay away.
Why are you here then? Just search him up, watch the video then you'll know what they're talking about.
Guys, do not.......i repeat.....DO NOT look that dude up. I wish i were still clueless about this human pile of garbage
Imma watch this again in 5 years to see whether or not these guys end up being fucking Nostradamus (my guess for this case is a hard yes)
What are your views now? 3 years lster
Well..
@@nibyafternight1983 it’s interesting, because while RUclipsrs (and also TikTokers) are still trying to make gains in music, most of them aren’t holding an audience for that long, usually not longer than 1 song gaining some traction. With the exception of KSI, most of the RUclipsrs that can actually hold an audience in music are doing genres that aren’t generic rap or pop music (not saying KSI is generic or even that he’s good, but he does seem like he’s making the music because he gives a shit and not just to diversify his portfolio like a lot of other people do) because there are fewer trends to ride on or waves to take advantage of. Good or not, you’re probably there for the right reasons.
What I HAVE seen happen is a LOT of white rappers gaining mainstream traction, which was not necessarily the main point of the video but was certainly a factor. Another music RUclipsr that I like, Todd in the Shadows, said something to this affect, that the main takeaway music producers seemed to take from the Macklemore implosion was n out about appropriation or white privilege, but that he had *too much* personality, so a lot of the white rappers that take off feel EVEN BLANDER than that (G-Easy, Gnash, MGK before Tickets to my Downfall, hell Lil Dicky hadn’t even had his biggest hit by this point with Freaky Friday)
And MGK largely abandoning rap for rock music combined with Lil Dicky moving into making TV shows kinda demonstrates that people have definitely taken notes in how to use rap as, like I said before, a way to build a portfolio and make a quick buck. I don’t think it’s as bad as they thought it would turn out; I don’t think either of the Paul brothers or their posies have charted in a while (are they still even making music?), but people definitely took notes and that can still happen.
Also the fact that Tom Macdonald has charted AT ALL is definitely evidence of shallow/shitty people taking notes. We’ll see what happens with him, hopefully not much.
Great segment guys.
I did not expect this convo to be so interesting.
Ik everybody seen Jake Paul & DEHH on the same title and either clicked off in the first 5 mins or didn't bother at all but this is an important discussion to have. This best point came from Mark who mentioned the emergence of Nu-Metal (which lasted a hot second) and the downfall of Rock music.... That's a scary parallel to Hip-Hop in today's climate. More subgenres and "guest rappers" entering this CULTURE is not only gonna water it down (shit the music Industry has been trynna water down Hip-Hop since Rapper's Delight). It gonna kill Hip-Hop. Make it something of yester-year and some shit like EDM will take over. I think we need to mobilize and stand up for what's what and it ALL starts with what's accepted in Hip-Hop and what's not.
-Jermaine HD
I hope that hip hop survives forever. I like finding 10's of 100's of new hip-hop tracks that you can talk to anyone around me and they heard it. I hope it doesn't have the rock fall where there is absolutely nothing new that sticks with people. I pray this stops, stop this garbage. I'm scared that this is the peak in hip-hop
kens defeated "god damn it" at the end is perfect
Great video!!!
