Great video and thanks again for installing the AA downpipe! It’s awesome and really adds to the overall driving experience of the car. Definitely worth it.
Hi Scott u found the AA Catted high flow dp for the B58 enhances the overall driving experience, but specifically any details in sound and performance in ur 340i? Thanks
Hey Simon. The sound is an improvement in my opinion. The car is louder and a little more aggressive on the cold start and under WOT. Performance is also improved. The throttle and responsiveness is better than it was before. I also like the no CEL guarantee and that the downpipe is EPA certifies and OBD2 compliant. I’m in NC where they hook up to the OBD port for emission inspection so that was big for me too. If you’re thinking about upgrading your downpipe, I highly recommend the AA catted downpipe.
Scott Appleyard Thank you Scott I recently installed in my car the MPPSK but was thinking to move along with the AA too. My best friend has the AA downpipe in his 340 And sounds perfectly nice
Hi Chris the Active Autowerks downpipe for the b58 is IMO one of the top ones for a stock oem plus style, no CEL guaranteed and no problem with the emissions test either, sound it’s awesome. Finally someone did it on RUclips and obviously done by @ForcedInductionsStudios, great and clean job boss 👍
Paul L That’s my 340 in the video. I love the Dinan intake. While it does improve the sound, it’s a closed box so it’s not too loud for my taste. But for me, the performance improvement is what I like best. The car definitely pulls harder and the throttle is more responsive. I picked it up last year during Dinan’s Black Friday sale so I got a great deal on it. Well worth the money for me. I highly recommend it if you are looking for sound and performance improvement but not for something too loud.
Great video, but please don’t use a jack as your source of supporting the vehicle. Highly unsafe when you have perfectly good jack stands sitting right there. Other than that, good content.
I ended up going the cheap route for a stage 2 tune and went catless. I’m deciding whether to purchase a high flow catted due to the smell. I can smell something even with the windows up, although it’s not as strong as it is when my windows are down.
Yes when I went with my first catless I lasted 4 days and bought a nice high flow catted downpipe, the smell was terrible. Now with e85 I do not smell anything so with BB kit I run catless again.
BOO5T also I heard once you upgrade turbos, catless is a must. Any thoughts on that? I was planning to go to high flow catted since I’m not changing my stock turbos at all. Also while you were catted, were you more careful with burble settings? As in not making it aggressive?
Tell me....the DP to turbo connection. Is that a fairly simple connection? One that you just push on and tighten vband and it all cinches flush and airtight?
Yes but the vband must be on perfect for the airtight aspect to work, basically will seat only if it covers all the way around otherwise you will have exhaust leak
how much flow has it compared to a catless downpipe / 95% ? Great video. Also what setup would you suggest me for perfect reliability and power on my 440i.? LOVE
I would say a catted downpipe like that one is 70-80% more flow vs 100% on catless... for a 440i I would do downpipe, intake, and stage 1 or 2, that should be great gains with solid reliability
@@BOO5Tchannel Thanks for you fast answer sir. I would like to raise two points. First is, intakes are useless ( for gains ) unless you are running a big turbo setup like you, dont you think ? Secondly, what supporting mods do you suggest aside from coilovers, plugs? I've been following your journey since your first video.
Farouk Qaddoumi I like intakes for cool engine noises to be honest. Supporting mods after that is based on your goals, coilovers are expensive.. I would go h&r springs if you don’t track the car. Plugs are not from my understanding needed right away, you can change those when you do your next oil change.
Catless gets more flow but it has more carbon smell to it and high flow still has a cat that removes the smell but just more flow. For power you want catless
@@carlsagan3065 The newer 3 series have locked ECU's and getting them unlocked and tuned is much more expensive than the previous gen. These catted DP's are showing around 20 or so hp gain on dyno tests so if you can get that much from a DP and another 9 or 10 from intake and then just slap a JB4 piggy back on, you'd have a really potent daily.
How much louder is this with stock exhaust on a 2018 540i? I ruined my hearing with stupid car stereos, jet engines, and electric guitars, and I can't handle much more noise.
A high flow cat is much better than stock cat and a catless is a bit better than high flow. I wouldn’t say way better but overall catless would be the best for exhaust flow
@@BOO5Tchannel Thanks for the reply, I might get the catted then. Planning to just go Stage 2 max so I guess the difference in HP gains won't be noticeable.
I agree it’s a bit much but some states need it and some people need some sort of protection when they have kids etc. so it is situational. Thanks for watching
Not to mention if you go catless you’ll very likely throw a CEL and a bootmod3 license will run you $500 so you can code it out yourself and if you decided to buy a OTS tune you’ll be spending another $200+ per tune. Great video btw ! I’m thinking about running this downpipe for now since I am in California and emissions laws are very strict here.
@@5lakaiordie There are catted downpipes on the market that retail for less than half that. And just because it has a cat, doesn't guarantee it won't still throw a CEL. Besides....most guys swapping out their downpipes, are tuning their cars too. Its really not worth while, otherwise.
@@alfrede.neuman8611 Which ones are less? Genuinely curious because I have a new M340i coming in a couple months and don't want to have to pay an arm and a leg to get the ECU unlocked and tuned.

Clear and informative video. I couldn't find anything about just replacing the O2 sensors. This was a very good substitute. Thanks.
Thanks!
This is the same motor setup in the new 2021 supra A91! Great video.
Wondering how the owner likes the Dinan intake. I just sold my MST intake because it was too noisy. Wondering how Dinan sounds vs. stock.

How much labour time would it require to replace stock to high flow downpipe? Thanks.
Depends on who’s doing it but 2-3 hours max
Can you install catted downpipe on 340i without a tune??
