    WOW....these are my favorites of all.....so far I've used popsicle sticks for skis... but my efforts have failed in trying to tip up the front ends. Most of all....I love the fur/cork boots. It really adds to a professional look. The clay feet was another hit in another video.
    I know that your "boopers" (followers) have upgraded their gnomes by watching your channel.
    What will you come up with next? I cant wait!

    • @SarahNenniDaher
      @SarahNenniDaher  3 года назад +1

      You can try large craft sticks or tongue depressors for the skis. Dip the end in very hot water, curve them up around a surface, and secure until dry. We made skis for a diorama once and it worked well.

    I LOVE these! I especially love the boots. They are adorable!!! Looking at the skis, I was thinking of trying tongue depressors. My closest Michaels is about 1 1/2 hours and Amazon is a minimum of 2 day wait, so I will try the depressors first. Too anxious to wait to try these. :)

    • @SarahNenniDaher
      @SarahNenniDaher  3 года назад

      You could definitely use tongue depressors. Heat the ends in hot water and bend them up, securing around something curved. It will work.

    Oh Sarah these are are adorable... I checked the price of the hats they are like three of them for $69.99 here.. and I don't know where to get the skis you can get stuff like that at Walmart but guess what.. we are in lockdown for the second time here in Manitoba Canada the government of Manitoba has closed anything that is non-essential meaning I cannot go buy a Christmas tree Christmas balls ...glue sticks.. I can't buy any clothes.. no mittens no scarves it's just ridiculous the only thing that you can buy here right now until December 11th because our cases are up so high is groceries gas and alcohol everything is closed except the schools I don't understand that either but I can't believe that I can't run to the dollar store and get supplies... I understand why they would close the gyms the salons the malls the churches... What can you do?

    • @SarahNenniDaher
      @SarahNenniDaher  3 года назад

      UGH, I'm so sorry, Linda! We are again in lockdown, too. You can try to make the little hat from a stretchy knit fabric (if you have that on hand).

    Awesome idea! ❤️ Going to make my own skis with a scroll saw and make the boots with dowels, as a substitute substitute the wine corks. Ski poles can be made with wire coat hangers and bailing wire... Will experiment with heating the to red hot with a torch and immediately quenching them in used motor oil will give them that patina finish... Your way is so much easier, no doubt. I just like to use more of the materials I have 'on hand' and make them as 'DIY' as possible. Great idea, too on the - braids!
    (EDIT) - Shish-Ka-Bob sticks would be a much easier / safer idea to make the ski poles, actually! ;)

      It's called plush fur or minky fabric and it's at Joann's and fabric stores. It's also online but only available by the yard, so it's not too cost-effective unless you're making a lot of gnomes with it.
      I used it here on the boots and on this Christmas cone gnome family. ruclips.net/video/fq4tHkpcjmk/видео.html

    Sarah, question alert! lol It looks like you have made these noses out of clay which I am about to attempt to do. What size (approx) is the noses used in this project? When you bake them do they shrink any? And do you bake yours? Sorry... I am new the this clay thing and want to get it right... Thank you SO much for all your help and inspiration. I have already had request to make gnomes for friends and family and all they have seen is the hanging ornaments I have made. Soooo fun! Happy Thanksgiving week!

    • @SarahNenniDaher
      @SarahNenniDaher  3 года назад +1

      They do shrink slightly, Patti, but not too noticeably. For these size gnomes, I use about a 3/4 inch bead or clay nose. For a really fun and unique look, make a few wide oval noses to vary it up. Ask ALL the questions - sometimes I forget to share things which are just normal for me now, so it really helps me AND everyone reading the comments. ❤
