Spot the moment Dwayne went from putting on his expected "on-screen" persona to becoming honestly choked up with emotion when she asks ..."why?" Love these 2:)
I always feel so awkward when I approach a vet and say thank you because I have no clue what sacrifice they or their family went through. Any veteran watching this some of us do care and we do appreciate it. Thank you Marlene.
I'm in the same position, but I know they're volunteering to put their life on the line for me so I don't have to know the particulars to see a man or woman in uniform and say thank you.
As a vet, i will tell you that you should never feel awkward doing that, it honestly means the world to us when someone takes the time out of their day to come up to us to just tell us thank you.
The immense pain in her voice when she said her soldier did just shows what kind of person she is, you do deserve it, thank you for what you've done and continue to do, God bless!
Marlene seems like such a genuine, humble, and selfless person. She truly does deserve every good thing she gets. I want to thank her for serving our country, and I hope her fallen comrade is resting in peace. On top of that, this is just more evidence that the Rock is an incredible human being.
You can CLEARLY see the moment he goes from being that public figure, actor etc to just 100% real and almost thrown off. I think she’s the first person I’ve ever heard ask “why?” when getting gifts like this.
As a veteran, I completely understand her reaction. Those of us that are here, always remember those that weren't so lucky. Never far from our thoughts. Exemplo Ducemus.
The Rock has the biggest heart of all actors. She deserves it and so do many other soldiers, sailors and airmen who serve...I’m a vet of 20 yrs and proud to have served
Dwayne - To see how you treat my brothers and sisters in arms is extremely heartwarming. Those of us who served, especially in combat operations have a completely altered perspective on life. When life and death are the only things that matter to you….and you see just how easily a life can end, not much importance is placed in rewards and recognition. But it is so nice to see situations like these. And you are a great guy to do such nice things. I am a 24 year Army combat vet that was fortunate enough to not suffer life altering physical injuries. But many of those I served with were not as lucky. And I’d do anything I can to help any of them in anyway. Keep doing what you are doing!
This is one of many reasons why Dwayne Johnson deserves to be a celeb not fake and pretentious a real decent human being a true icon to show us all how to treat each other
Funnily....I instantly understood where she was coming from, she nearly said no to the car. A REALITY check for the Rock and others about Humilty and soldiers who just want their buddies to be not dead. It's a beautiful gift for a really cool chick, hope she has a Service dog as well.
I cried at the realization of the emotions on her face; the humility and memory she wanted to honor of her soldier. You could tell Dwayne was not expecting that reaction.
But she still accepted it anyway. A service dog... give me a break. I'm a veteran and never in the history of this country has an entire generation of military personnel been so over praised. I've never seen so much self pity in my life, and yet they've gotten every perk ever imagined.
Jake 19 I agree with you Jake. I know it's not popular but after the draft ended people enlisted for various reasons that aren't altruistic: a job, training, benefits, they like killing people...etc. many times it is a very difficult job (or super easy depending). many pat themselves on the back and fish to be thanked for their service.
From a Canadian. My love and respect goes out for all the American soldiers fighting so freedom and independence is a thing we can experience every day.
What an amazing Veteran this young lady is. I have never seen such selflessness, dedication and devotion in my life. She is the epitome of a true warrior. God bless you my blessed soldier.
If she seeks the help she deserves she will eventually cope. It does take awhile and sometimes even if it’s just for brief spurts of time it’s a lot better then the everyday guilty feeling.
Mad respect for veterans and current women and men serving this country. Y’all deserve every blessing that comes your way AND more. Because of you you this is “land of the free, home of the brave “
This brave woman obviously has a lot of survivor's guilt. I pray she has been able to see how much people love her and respect what she's gone through and that she DOES deserve these nice things.
Watching this in Perth Australia, wasn't having the best morning! Now I feel very humbled n inspired by this lady and the rock! Respect to U.S defence forces
To all vets reading these comments. You deserve this and more forever. While some of you do have nightmares and trauma, remember that you are loved and needed on this planet, rise up soldier. To those who did lose someone rise up and live for that special brother or sister who can't. Love. Respect and most importantly God loves you. Live with HONOR.
Right, and the Rock is the right person for giving this award - he likes those persons and what they do and did way more than the known VIP suspects ...
She says she doesn't deserve it but you know what, she's out there telling her friends story, so that the world knows the sacrifice made and the courage and valor of her friend, she's a sweetheart, hopefully she can let herself be a little happy , seems like a good person and good people deserve good things.
ABSOLUTE honor, appreciation, and respect for her. She and her brothers and sisters in the military are warriors. As was said before, “I don’t deserve this.” is EXACTLY why she does.
She's an amazing lady with a big heart. May u live 100+ yrs so that many people can continue to learn from your sacrifice, humility, and everything that makes you a person.
Ive seen a lot of videos of people getting stuff like this and their reactions never seemed real it seemed fake. Hers felt so real. Just the raw emotion from her hit hard. She definitely deserves this
“Though badly wounded, Rodriguez escaped the fiery wreckage, rescued a fellow soldier, and fired at the enemy as she helped him to safety. She later received the Purple Heart for her injuries - making her one of only 500 women ever to receive the honor.”
Far out , i'm a Kiwi living in Australia and that single word question, "Why ", bloody pulled on my heart strings it did , you done well Big Fulla , could see the look on your face. Respect big time to Marlene.
I'm telling you right now, lady you deserve that and so much more, all of our soilders deserve , to be paid so much more then professional athletes, Thank you all so much for your service!
oldman, you're right about what she and others deserve, but, why hate on pro athletes? Banks, executives, hedge fund managers, they are making hundreds of millions, even billions a year, plus they and the big corporations have the lobbyists in Washington writing laws. I don't know of any pro athletes with lobbyists.
Survivor guilt is a crushing weight to bear, but it's also a sign of humility and a big heart. Bless you Marlene and I hope time helps you cope with your loss.
Marlene, you deserve every bit of it. I know you, I know your heart. I am proud of you, the strides you have taken and am honored to call you a friend.
The humility of someone who receives such a gift so graciously is amazing and deeply sad. She does deserve so much more. We have a responsibility to love and care for our service men and women for the rest of their lives for what they do for us (especially those who sacrificed physically and mentally/emotionally so much.) My grandfather earned a Purple Heart in WWII. He always shared the same feelings. To him he wasn’t the hero, the men who didn’t make it were. God bless this soldier!
I don’t care how many times I see this video, I still shed a tear when she asks why and he’s trying to find a way to say it without crying himself. I’m a military spouse and these little videos touch my heart. I’ve had, and currently have, friends and family in every branch. It takes a special person to put on that uniform and go do that job. These brave men and women deserve anything they’re given, even as simple as a thank you can go a long way. Doing something like this is just a small token of appreciation
I am a Brit and she made me cry. Why? Guess only a soldier who had served and gone through what she had could ask that question. She is a very special lady who is obviously still suffering. Bless you for your service not just to your country but to the whole world. I pray and hope she finds peace now.
What a Humble compassionate lady....wow...YES YOU DO DESERVE IT...Do NOt feel guilt for the loss of your comrades....Feel Pride for serving with them...They will be looking down at you and smiling and sayings YES YOU DO DESERVE IT....God Bless ALL of the men and women of the armed forces who fight to protect us and some pay the ultimate price...THANK YOU ALL
Thank you Marlene. This is so awesome. I am sure someone at the end of their rope will see this and that their is hope kindness and humanity. Through you and your fallen soldier lives will be saved
I am a military BRAT to the core and this literally brought tiers to my eyes(I was raised to never cry because it shows weakness.... It takes a lot to make me cry now). Both my parents have served MANY time seeing as how they both have done over 20 years for the Army. I love to see people that are idled by so many, do such amazing touching things. Dwayne.... I am a hard of hearing person who sees more than hears and I KNOW that you really FELT that question "why me?" I saw it in your body and facial expressions that you were so touched and taken by that question. YOU need to know that YOU are amazing for who you touch as well; also, that more than just me notice that you did this for real kindness and love for our solders who die for this country and the ones who come home. To both Dwayne and Marleen, KEEP it up. You are both so amazing!! We all don't feel that we deserve to have awards or people to tell us how good we are doing because of the trauma that we face in life that lives with us forever but believe it or not that is what keeps us going. To overcome it is the hardest part and to continue to live with it and rise above it is to conquer it.
Wow...she's so humble and very respectful for her fellow soldiers who gave their lives...I served 5 yrs in the Army....11 months in Afghanistan n lost 5 of my buddies over there to stood right there and watched them take there very last breath and that hurts...i think about it all the time so i know how Marlene feels...I've been there
Hey, Sean Humphries...don't give up. I know its hard. I cant say that I have experienced what you have. As a person trying to live and make a good normal life and as someone who experienced the home front as a military gf for many years...you are never alone. Your friends deaths arent in vain and your suffering and tears etc isnt what they would want. And again, you aren't alone in it. Just reach out, discuss it and whole heartedly thank you for your sacrifice and service. It may not always feel apparently but majority of us americans are with you and dont want any military personell, contractor who supports our military, or veteran feeling bad or left behind. Your friends did not die in vain and you surviving or not dying is not in vain either. Lots of love.
Holy fuck did you hear her... She doesn't deserve this... She deserves everything she gets .what a strong powerful woman...warmed my heart ..Dave from Dublin Ireland.
I'm not a soldier, but have saved a life and understand the confusion and humbling she experienced. With that history of me removed, Thank you! to all the soldiers that fight for their brothers and sisters despite the situation. She's the epitome of a soldier and can move on knowing she truly gave all in her past.
Damn Dwayne got emotional for a sec. This man we dont deserve him. Hes absolutely incredible as a human being for this for her. The respect I have for him since day 1 of being his fan❤️🥰
It's such an honor to know that there is women like this fighting for our country. She receives so little for what she's given, but yet she's humble enough to bring us all to tears.Thank You..!!!!!!!!!! I am so sorry that you lost comrades. By your side. Again United States of America does appreciate everything you've done. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My friend who served in the Army suffered a great deal when she got out mentally. She was a hard worker, a great mom an awesome friend and just a wonderful person. She lost her battle with depression after several failed attempts leaving her young girls without a mom. Those who serve deserve so much more than we give them.
@@missionpupa people like you genuinely make me laugh ... I can garuntee you'd never say that face to face to someone knowing yer wee face would be smashed to fuck resembling a paint color chart. Keep digital Flexing it's all you'll ever be good at 😘
101327 He probably will not answer your question. I partly see his point, but I don't think it's that simple. So many people say "the war is for oil, etc" but I haven't seen evidence of oil being extracted. Most of the leaders are already filthy rich and I don't think they would make up an entire facade to 'get their oil'. I agree, the WMD's wasn't a good reason either, but the accounts of what Saddam was doing to the innocent people over there were a better reason to send troops over. Syria has been known to contain many ties to terrorists and that would be the reason troops/spec ops are there. The problem is this is unconventional warfare. It's not like the enemy (radical Islamic terrorists/militants) wear redcoats and berets, uniforms etc. They can be women and even innocent children that have been either brainwashed or forced to partake in destructive plots. So as a result you have many people, mainly liberal people/media that will say "soldiers/marines are invading villages and killing innocent women and children, sheer psychopaths are our military" or things similar to that. Now, of course there are some bad apples in the military that like Marcus said just wanna be able to get away with killing people, just like the bad cops that exist out there but that isn't the military as a whole. I'm sure there will be people that will call me ugly names and say I'm naive or ignorant but if they can site clear specific examples of why I'm wrong I'll be happy to see it. God bless
Not wanting to take away any of the honor this, and all, veterans, and all serving members of the military deserve, but America now has a president that seems determined to take away those freedoms as he serves his own ego. But this woman is the reason the military has such a good reputation.

Spot the moment Dwayne went from putting on his expected "on-screen" persona to becoming honestly choked up with emotion when she asks ..."why?" Love these 2:)
I noticed that too... I cried Bro...
You can tell The Rock got hit deep when she asked "WHY?" when they presented the mustang..
I saw it
Yeah man, he tried to hide it, but you could see it. He almost broke down. You could hear it in his voice.
That moment make my tears come out
IT KILLED ME!!!! My god, seeing big dudes cry makes me BUST out crying like a baby.
Yea I saw it he nearly went, had me tearing up
Someone who is so brave , so courageous and very humble.....there she is.
People like Marlene are what make America great.
Really liked how she put her brothers first before herself...Dwayne you ROCK !!! 🇺🇸
It is heart-wrenching to hear how much "survivor guilt" this worthy soldier is suffering. Bless her heart, I hope she heals.
As a veteran, I completely understand her reaction. Those of us that are here, always remember those that weren't so lucky. Never far from our thoughts. Exemplo Ducemus.
Sean H . Thank you for your service
Thank you for your service Sean.
Thank you Sean
Thank you man, I’m not America but I feel we are all human and we need to give respect for everyone that is good hearted.
Sean H thank you for your service
Fought for her great country 🇺🇸, only asked for her fellow fallen soldiers and nothing else. God bless our men & women in the service.
Bruce Bruce real hero! 100%
I feel for everyone serving now, with such an idiot as president

The Rock has the biggest heart of all actors. She deserves it and so do many other soldiers, sailors and airmen who serve...I’m a vet of 20 yrs and proud to have served
Thank you!
💙
Joe Jurek. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
thank u
💜
As a UK Non Vet - I salute you
This is one of many reasons why Dwayne Johnson deserves to be a celeb not fake and pretentious a real decent human being a true icon to show us all how to treat each other
Funnily....I instantly understood where she was coming from, she nearly said no to the car.
I'll be her huckleberry......
@@damone70 supply huh?
From a Canadian. My love and respect goes out for all the American soldiers fighting so freedom and independence is a thing we can experience every day.
What an amazing Veteran this young lady is. I have never seen such selflessness, dedication and devotion in my life. She is the epitome of a true warrior. God bless you my blessed soldier.
She’s SOOOO HUMBLE! God Bless Her.. She really does deserve it all. Thank you for your service!! 💜💜
My god... she's deep in the clutches of survivor's guilt... she's amazing and I hope the pain becomes easier to live with every day.
If she seeks the help she deserves she will eventually cope. It does take awhile and sometimes even if it’s just for brief spurts of time it’s a lot better then the everyday guilty feeling.
When you survive a situation where others don’t, you never get over it, or feel worthy of any accolades that come with it.
Yes she is...let us keep Marlene and other in prayer. I hate the pain she's living with. I want to help...but right all I can do is pray
Her “WHY?” brought me to tears....
Respects for all the soldiers of the world, ever lived.
RESPECT
Mad respect for veterans and current women and men serving this country. Y’all deserve every blessing that comes your way AND more. Because of you you this is “land of the free, home of the brave “
That’s a true leader saying she deserves nothing
She is a true hero and the moment she says why is the reason why she deserve so much more
She remained humble through and through. Respect and thanks for your service.
This brave woman obviously has a lot of survivor's guilt. I pray she has been able to see how much people love her and respect what she's gone through and that she DOES deserve these nice things.
She truly deserve it... Respect!! 🙇♂️
Watching this in Perth Australia, wasn't having the best morning! Now I feel very humbled n inspired by this lady and the rock! Respect to U.S defence forces
Thank you Rock... No idea how much you make us Veterans smile and cry at times for you just being you and interacting with us.
Ahh god love her man. She deserves the earth. How humble. I hope her life is full of further blessings
Thanks dear, kind of been in the comments section when I came across yours. Thanks for your sincere compliment and love 💕
Please where are you from?
The most honest reaction I ever seen.
It's a great thing such an award is given to a veteran rather than a celebrity. We all love u so so much!
Tony Rbinson awesome!
Right, and the Rock is the right person for giving this award - he likes those persons and what they do and did way more than the known VIP suspects ...
stefaninselaffe no it should be Xzhibit
lol!
The problem is, she feels like she is getting praise for living when other soldiers died. It cause guilt complexes & PTSD :(
The level of love and respect that he has for others is beyond wonderful. I truly think that he will be a legend because of it.
As a fellow veteran I hold you with the highest respect and may God bless you and may you have a peaceful life.
She says she doesn't deserve it but you know what, she's out there telling her friends story, so that the world knows the sacrifice made and the courage and valor of her friend, she's a sweetheart, hopefully she can let herself be a little happy , seems like a good person and good people deserve good things.
Well said, I agree 100%
She almost broke the rock almost....mad respect to you both
ABSOLUTE honor, appreciation, and respect for her.
Tony Rbinson Amen
Tony Rbinson yes bro, humility is a great trait and a gift
she is really an amazing lady
This woman is why I love America. God bless her and her "soldier".
I'm a 37 year old man. When she said i don't deserve this, the my soldier who died does, i choked up hard.

Worked the same way on me, i’m 45
Ive seen a lot of videos of people getting stuff like this and their reactions never seemed real it seemed fake. Hers felt so real. Just the raw emotion from her hit hard. She definitely deserves this
3 tours . . . Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for Ford having her back. This was awesome
She is a real inspiration that's very touching rock you are a great guy for acknowledging her
oldman, you're right about what she and others deserve, but, why hate on pro athletes? Banks, executives, hedge fund managers, they are making hundreds of millions, even billions a year, plus they and the big corporations have the lobbyists in Washington writing laws. I don't know of any pro athletes with lobbyists.
Being nervous for a celebrity in front of someone who is in awe of him or her shows how much they are appreciated by one and all
Ford gave the 5.0, nice, and respect to this woman, sacrifice from Canada, respect you ,
Survivor guilt is a crushing weight to bear, but it's also a sign of humility and a big heart. Bless you Marlene and I hope time helps you cope with your loss.
"My soldier does....he gave his life..."
GAWT DAMN ONIONS!!!!
Uniform Tango 74 Yep, them onions got me too...
Haha yah.....
Boy, someone was cutting too many onions!!
Uniform Tango 74 I just have tears
ikr, i need to go get my tear ducts repaired asap
Marlene, you deserve every bit of it. I know you, I know your heart. I am proud of you, the strides you have taken and am honored to call you a friend.
The Rock....a very big guy with a very big heart and Marlene....hats off to you
The humility of someone who receives such a gift so graciously is amazing and deeply sad. She does deserve so much more. We have a responsibility to love and care for our service men and women for the rest of their lives for what they do for us (especially those who sacrificed physically and mentally/emotionally so much.)
My grandfather earned a Purple Heart in WWII.
What a Humble Hero She Is..Proud To Serve & Humble To Live..🇺🇸
What a Humble compassionate lady....wow...YES YOU DO DESERVE IT...Do NOt feel guilt for the loss of your comrades....Feel Pride for serving with them...They will be looking down at you and smiling and sayings YES YOU DO DESERVE IT....God Bless ALL of the men and women of the armed forces who fight to protect us and some pay the ultimate price...THANK YOU ALL
Won’t cry, won’t cry, won’t cry and I cry when she says “WHY” WOW 😳 tremendous leader....
I'm not crying, you're crying. 😢❤
You got that right!!
Yes I did!
Is that a reference to storks? Or am I just a dorky parent? Lol
Yeah I'm crying.
I am 😭😭😭
Wow...she's so humble and very respectful for her fellow soldiers who gave their lives...I served 5 yrs in the Army....11 months in Afghanistan n lost 5 of my buddies over there to stood right there and watched them take there very last breath and that hurts...i think about it all the time so i know how Marlene feels...I've been there
God bless the martyrs and thank them and your for service... God bless
Shawn Humphreys thank you for your service.
Shawn Humphreys ...Respect for you and for all army...
Thanks Buddy...love & respect from Germany
No over reaction or screeming out of joy.top of humblness from that lady and the rock.
My friend who served in the Army suffered a great deal when she got out mentally. She was a hard worker, a great mom an awesome friend and just a wonderful person. She lost her battle with depression after several failed attempts leaving her young girls without a mom. Those who serve deserve so much more than we give them.
She was talking about guilt and now she feels even more guilty. The look on her face is priceless, good for you!
lol? That car is stained with the blood of her fallen comrades.
@@missionpupa people like you genuinely make me laugh ... I can garuntee you'd never say that face to face to someone knowing yer wee face would be smashed to fuck resembling a paint color chart. Keep digital Flexing it's all you'll ever be good at 😘
Such a humble hero. God bless you and thank you for your service. Because of people like her, I live free.
God bless
fRo0tLo0p free from what?
The illusion of freedom is a shackle used to control.
Not wanting to take away any of the honor this, and all, veterans, and all serving members of the military deserve, but America now has a president that seems determined to take away those freedoms as he serves his own ego. But this woman is the reason the military has such a good reputation.
Christopher Walker u don't see it because you are at your home watching youtube LMAO
