the question you should ask is where the "sub-quality / defective" chicks go. Maybe they will place them without hurling, into the dog-food processor.

I know but they as smaller and a smaller body take less impact damage I don’t think they are getting heurt, if we trow a bigger body like this damage can occur.

The first time I hatched quail I put them in a cage made of plywood with a strip of half inch square mesh on the front. I poured a batch of the chicks into the box and they ran out through the cage wire like it wasn't there. There's so much down on the new chicks that you couldn't hurt them by throwing them; it's like trying to throw a foam ball around. The air slows them down immediately and they land softly and run away.

@@sandrox1219 for such a stupid argument i sure do hear it a lot. Eating is a natural process, everything eats and needs to be eaten. Humans are omnivores so we have to eat meat or risk illness. Keeping animals in shitty conditions for profit does not work the same way as eating them in a restaurant. Think buddy. Animals can be raised and killed without needless suffering. Give them a damn good life and believe it or not, we _can still eat them_

Poor animals, this mass production is a horror. I myself am a farmer of quails and it hurts my heart to see something like this. I keep them species-appropriate in the green in large outdoor aviaries with soil, sand, all kinds of hiding places that correspond to the natural habitat. To see something like this just hurts.

There are some wrong information about quails in this video:
1:07: quails incubation time is abou 17 days not 15 days
1:13: quails DO incubate eggs by them self when they feel comfortable and when they kept appropriate to the species. Not in small cages like in the video.

They lost their incubation instinct because those are domesticated.
it's 15 to 17 days, but you are right. the heavy line could even take a bit longer ( 17-19 days ).
