Really good looking force you have there. I am also working on Victrix's Greeks at the moment and you get a great sense of accomplishment when you finally stick the shields on to complete the hoplite look. You are correct that the peltast shield transfers go on the flat side. The most distinctive part of the Thracian appearance is their geometric style cloaks, just keep it simple! I have already completed my Persian forces, if you would like to see these I have posted pics on The Miniature Page website, under the Ancient Gallery message boards with the title "Persian Conversion Excursion". So I would say you do need to tackle some Persians as opponents for your Greeks (otherwise they just fight each other). Yes the Medieval range of Victrix looks great too but it will take a few months for enough packs to become available. Enjoy your holiday!
Thanks for the comment! I will definitely have a look at the Persians you have painted and I do intend to cover the Persians as well but I meant to say that it might not be my immediate project after the Greeks as I am interested in taking a peek at the medieval range first but we shall see.
They're coming along not sloppy which can happen when painting a large 28mil battle force ! Good idea flipping the sheilds, and those from the mountains !😊
Crusades is a fun period. I have multiple units from FireForge with capes and banners flowing in the wind. Makes for an impressive looking unit. I'm looking forward to see what you do with them.
You had the same difficulties applying the shield decals to the Peltast, Javelin men shields as I did. Your decision to apply the decals on the other side of the shields is the correct way. I read somewhere that the Shields were made of wood with leather stretched over them and then decorated. If you check the box art you can see that you got it right the second time round.
Yes it’s an easy mistake to make. luckily I only ruined one decal in the process. I did research and apparently it was goat or sheep skin that was stretched over.
@@thewarchesttownsend7595 I only had a few that I ruined which was a lesson. Loving your work by the way and it has given me some ideas for working on a mercenary group of my own.

Interesting, I haven’t heard of fireforge. I will have a look.
