- Thought I'd do something different for a change, considering I'm fast approaching 10K. Some of you may know this already, but I'm also a Mega Man fan, so what I've done is found and compiled all instances of the famous "stage start" fanfare from most of the games, from MM1 to MM11.

Fact: The woman composed the original (Mega Man) stage start also composed the stage start of Mega Man 10. (松前 真奈美)

All of the mega man games (1-6 + 9-10) uses the same 2A03 sound chip.

It’s interesting how starting with 7 all the classic games used arrangements of the same overall melody for this, with the X series continuing to get different ones.
The Megaman 11 one feels nostalgic and makes you ready to jump into the action.

It's hard to understate just how full of Mega Man the 90s and early 2000s were. At one point, you had the X, Zero, and Battle Network series all running at the same time.
And then you have the gigantic time window between Street Fighter x MegaMan and MegaMan 11 :/
And that is what killed the franchise lol
And this didn't even include the Battle Network, Star Force, Zero and ZX games that are the ones who truly saturated the market in the 2000s

@@HuskgamerIbecause it's not very accurate, first he didn't need to give Mega Man 9 its own list because its the exact same of Mega Man 2, second he should have add Mega Man X2 because that got a remix , and it is Mega Man Xtreme 2.

Megaman 4 is still by far the most balanced. It has the best sound rendition from the 8 bit versions and it’s the original theme (which is slightly broken because of them trying to cram too many effects into the same track), only transposed.
I’d give that to MegaMan 8
My favorite is MM3 GB. It's technically the same one as MM4 but I like the instruments a lot more.
My runner ups would be MM5GB and MM4GB, depending on how I feel atm.

Yeah, no shit. That's the point of that little Easter egg. It also changes his stage music to the stage 1 theme from Ghosts & Goblins.

Rockman Complete works was reused as the Navi Mode in Mega Man Anniversary Collection.
Power battle and power fighters are pretty cool because in one of them you can wall jump and it’s the first time to wall jump in the classics

The OG goes so hard. Every time I start up a new stage with it or the newer renditions, I get so amped. My brain is screaming "Yessss, let's freaking gooooo!"
X4 is still the hypest stage intro.
I think my favorite is the one that was used in Mega Man 2 and 9. All the others are also good.

I never realized that the one on Game Gear was just the opening to Dr. Cossack on Megaman 4
if you have 2 of these playing at once, the megaman 3 one sounds super cool
With how many times they remixed the first game's theme, it's kinda interesting to look at how the quality of the various remixes went over the years. The original is a classic for good reason, and the various remixes of it are sometimes worse, most of the time at least as good, and a couple of times absolutely amazing. I think the only remix of the original that's on more powerful hardware than the original but feels like a downgrade is Mega Man 11; it's not that they didn't TRY to utilize the audio capabilities they had and make it sound good, it's that they tried too hard, and it just ends up sounding too... busy? I can't think of a better word for it than that.
Also, the Complete Works remixes for Mega Man 5 and Mega Man 6 are outright awesome. The original 8-bit versions for those games were already good, but the Complete Works versions added a lot of depth to them, in just the right way.
I think both Mega Man 7 and 8 feel like a downgrade, but specially 7, the instrument and sound design choices are just so random and weird, but I think 11 did an okay job tbh
Then there's the Complete Works for MM3 where they didn't even try.

Real shame, too, because the tune for Mega Man 3 is good (though I personally slightly prefer the Wily Wars version over the 8-bit original), and it would have been nice to see what the better audio capabilities available for Complete Works could have done for it.
Personal favorites are Stage Start in X5 and X6, but 6 and especially 6 Complete Works are also great.

@@adventureoflinkmk2 They basically were. The Saturn/PS1 X3 was a port with an animated cut-scenes for the open and the boss intros mostly.

i appreciate the standardized stage start theme, but i really love it when each game gets their own unique fanfare.
also, i miss how MM1 and MM2 had a little flourish right near the end, i wish that carried over into future versions.

I played Mega Man X4 recently on emulator on keyboard,but it's better to operate the game in joystick,and the worst thing is that the game has a lot of pits and hard bosses,for starter you need to preview correctly the next move if you wanna give a single hit

My fave is probably MM2, way too iconic and the best version probably. It's funny how MMX3 is completely different between the SNES and Saturn/Playstation version (also, this version starts with a similar sounds as MMX4 😋)
