but once you are experienced, you will have to come up with thought process to sell the design to your clients, because more and more you will be hammering out designs completely from your head to illustrator without even taking 5 minutes. So to stop giving the client the impression that it is easy, you will have to start to come up with stories, and that is a skill

I love how the ‘final‘ 3 options are presented, but then you go one better for the real final version adding the strapline instead of the block. Funny how thinking in simple terms, e.g. shape blocks, can allow ‘unexpected‘ results, but then it fits the primary vision you intended. I can‘t get enough of these videos! :D

You have set out what really is the ideal successful logo design from both sides of the issue. Your process- find out as much as possible seems only a natural inquiry logo or otherwise. Inviting the clients in only means a more efficient process with fewer re-writes and re-thinks. Add to that the transparency of thinking through design decisions and being able to say why and what at each juncture. I wish more designers could set themselves up this way.

Missed this when first posted...Another great upload, of interest to up and coming designers and established ones too. The fundamental aspect of this video shows just how important connectivity and good communication is with your client and how equally important a well structured and meticulous work flow is. Again, very well presented, clear, concise, fluid, with lots of relevant and solid advise...Great stuff, and a pleasure to watch, and learn!...BTW, I think your end product was really good and perfect for the clients needs. Getting it spot-on like that is not as easy as many people may like to think and it takes a good deal of work...The final logo design is aesthetically very pleasing to the eye and makes perfect sense for the field in which it is to be applied..keep up the good work!

In short, you made me grasp the meaning of the word 'design' differently; however, interesting.

Thank you for Sharing detailed process Satori. Wanted to know what is the final delivery includes. Like only logo or logo guide, supporting elements, do's and donts, colour combinations, relevant mockups etc. And how you restrict or control rounds of iterations and options. These are some challenges I face. Thank you again for great work.

Great Job! The logo looks like a side view of fist hitting from top to bottom, and the small bottom-left element looks like pulse

Maybe to someone this logo will look like it is too simplified or someone would not be able to see connection between logo and jiujitsu. But each time I look at it, it have more and more connection to jiu jitsu. For example the "hook" used in letter "g" is excellent. I did some jiu jitsu and there is move called underhook (it is in fact a important move) and this hook on your design immediately associated me with that. Also round part of "g" gives me feeling of gentleness and jiu jitsu is called "gentle art". I do not know if you knew this information when you did design. Logo is great.

Loved this, more vids like this please, might be helpful to include how much and how you charged (60% up front, 40% when done?) . Also, the steps you included the client on (timeline etc.). Overall love your channel, very peaceful and beautifully summarized. Thanks again!

Congrats! This is those kind of videos that are really, really awesome because you see the whole process from start to finish and can also follow for yourself. Still, I have a few questions: you've chosen a non-serif typeface but what was the reasoning for choosing that typeface? What kind of characteristics would you look in a typeface that could embody those words you've mentioned? Also, if you could do another video with a real life project but with another theme, it would be great!

About your brief how many questions do you think is proper for the research and how many of them the client has a "liberty" to respond due to the fact sometimes as a designer we try to limit the answers from the client to be more precise and short Thanks in advance for your time. I love your channel, help me a lot.
