As a 55 yo man this really brought back memories. I remember me and my dad used to build models together. I actually learned a few things too lol. Thank you for sharing!
JR Salvinos did a great job, proactively correcting a small quality problem ( plugged or broken ejector pins ) in the 3 mounting pins on the 2 rear wheel brake fairings ( parts #58 & 59 ) and a small omission on the decal sheet ( decal #42 ) the “Shell” logo for the rear wing is missing from the main decal sheet. Proactively mailing the corrected parts & missing decal demonstrates JR Salvinos approach to customer satisfaction - GREAT JOB JR Salvinos ! 👍😄
I do not keep up with this sport much but the quality of the kit makes me want to pick up a few. Your work is beyond top notch Mr. Kemp, thanks for sharing what you do.
Awesome! Thank you! I would recommend to do the Pennzoil one first. It is all one color, and has the fewest decals. Once you get a feel for how they build up, then tackle the others.
Was wondering about the fit of the sidepods. Looks like a bit of a gap much like the old Monogram Indycars suffered with. What was your overall impression of the kit? Wonder if that could be overcome by gluing them altogether?🤷 Any idea if the motors are in anyway different between the Toyota and the Chevy other than engine badging? Can't imagine any need for separate tooling.
Great job Clay real clean build. I’m glad to see Salvino coming out with an IndyCar. It’s been so long since we’ve seen the Indy cars in modeling. Looking forward to get one and doing one thanks.
Really nice build video. Thanks for the voiceover as to what you are doing...helps understand how it goes together. Not a subject i plan on building as Indycar isn't my thing. This kit seems a bit "fiddly"...meaning a bunch little parts that take some time and a bit of finesse to line up. Not calling it bad, more of an observation. Thanks for another great video
Mick, we will be doing Helio’s car, along with all the 500 winners in this car before long and the aero screen will have the wicker. Also all of our kits have Clay’s great decal designs and Cartograf decals, which you won’t get anywhere else. We will also have road course wings and side deflectors in the future.
Fantastic build, thank you so much for showing this kit and narrating the build! I'll definitely try to get one. I hope there will be decals for the USAF version of Conor Daly or the American Legion car by Palou.
@@EricAitala That's great to hear. We ended up reworking some of the decals and there will be a different sheet than I used once the kit does come out.
LOL Yeah, the chrome wheels complicated things a bit. But luckily I got the tires on with no cracking. The tires are one of the best parts of the kit. No mold lines down the center!
I’m starting to build the next gen cars. Can you please do a dedicated video on how you put the decals on? Thank you so very much. Oh, I enjoy your videos, you’re so talented, your kits are so great they look real ETC, ETC. 🤔🤦♂️
Awesome as always, I was wondering (had no doubt) if you were going to fade the decals on. Well done Clay, such an inspiration now and back in the bad scale modeling days
I have no interest in this kit but love every video you put out. Tons of info and tips that always inspire. Like the Bob Ross of model building videos.
What glue difference is there using the toothpick vs the zap out of the bottle? Or is it just easier applying small dabs here n there? Great build Clay! Thank you
Thanks for sharing. I love my Tamiya F1 kits and have built many.....but current Indy Cars just don't do much for me. Maybe a 70's era McLaren or Egale and I'd spend the $80 then. Thanks!
What was the most challenging part for you with this kit? The video made it look almost effortless. Thank you for the build tutorial, I always enjoy your builds, maybe I'll see you at the Indy 500 at the end of this month.
Thanks for watching, and yes, I will be at the 500! Will be here before we know it. The only issues I had were things I messed up on by getting in too big of a hurry. It is very important to make sure the sides of the rear bulkhead are smooth, so the tub sides sit perfectly flat against it. I had some junk in the way, and it threw off a few other things.
You know what’s impressive? At no point did you have to do extensive puttying, sanding, shaping, and scribing. No replacing “incorrect” parts with resin or 3D printed ones. No scratchbuilding suspension. Just a well-designed kit out of the box, an enjoyable experience.
Clay, are you able to glue the rear flip-ups/fenders to the sidepod before you insert the inner well that needs to be black and before you place the side pod on the undertray? If possible, when the time comes, I might like to smooth the seam between the side pod and those "fenders". Thanks.
I will probably use this video as I am building mine. Thanks, Clay, for all that you do.
Great looking build. I hope it goes together as well as the Charger.👍👍

Most of us desire to build like this, but fall a bit short. It is inspiring to see an out of the box build come out so great.
Thanks!
Thanks for watching....glad you enjoyed it.
Dutch from assembly required sent me over. Looks like you’re getting close to get 100,000

This is absolutely incredible. I’ve always wanted to build a model like this. Beautiful!
Would you make a video showcasing some or all of your creations? They all look absolutely fantastic and I'd love to see that all.
I do not keep up with this sport much but the quality of the kit makes me want to pick up a few. Your work is beyond top notch Mr. Kemp, thanks for sharing what you do.
Glad you like the video! The kits are fun and really capture the look of the cars well.
Awesome job, clay!! It was awesome to see it in person at NNL EAST!!
Thanks Dylan. Was good to see you too!
Beautiful job Clay. I’ve got all four currently shown by Salvinos JR on preorder.
Awesome! Thank you! I would recommend to do the Pennzoil one first. It is all one color, and has the fewest decals. Once you get a feel for how they build up, then tackle the others.
It’s so great of you to share your expertise with us all! ❤

Thank you for getting this up so soon. Chomping at the bit for these to be sent out so I can start my own builds.
Thanks Don....I think you will really enjoy them.
Nice work on this one man! Love the editing. Overall great vibe on a great looking kit!
Glad you like it!
Beautiful build Clay! Even box stock it's a show winner!
Thank you Matthew! I appreciate you checking it out.
Glad I watched this video before I get & build my first one. Your work looks amazing!
Awesome! Thank you!

Very nice build of the kit. As always, your work is incredible. Nice of you to tell us the colors you used during the build. Thanks for sharing.
Eagerly awaiting these kits; and converting one to Helio’s winner.

This is fantastic! I had no idea these were coming!! I just ordered this kit!
wow! What a stunning build! I'm eagerly awaiting mine, hope it turns out half as good as this build. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic build, thank you so much for showing this kit and narrating the build!
I'll definitely try to get one.
I hope there will be decals for the USAF version of Conor Daly or the American Legion car by Palou.
I am sure there will be lots of aftermarket decals made once the kits are out for sale. Thanks for watching!
This video is making me want to get one! I'm not a big Indy Car fan, either. Thank you for sharing!😎👍
Great build as usual, Clay!! I've ordered two, and am anxiously waiting.....can never complain about SalvinosJR kits. Thanks for this!! 😁🏁
Thanks Joel! Good luck with your builds!
Brilliant video Clay, thank you for putting it all together. The kits looks so good, and your build is just stunning.
Thank you buddy. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with one of these kits.
This was awesome. Great job! I strive to build models as well as you do.
Thank you very much!
Wow, This is great work
Another beautiful build! Excellent video as well.
Thanks for posting this....
Thanks Eric. I appreciate you checking it out!
@@ClayKemp No problem... folks over at F1M are really interested in the kit...
@@EricAitala That's great to hear. We ended up reworking some of the decals and there will be a different sheet than I used once the kit does come out.
Great lookin build clay. Out of the box it’s a great lookin kit. Doin those wheels had to make ya sweat a bit.

They look like really good kits. Hope we can get some in AUS at some stage! 🇦🇺
It is definitely a fun model to build. And they are BIG! It should really lend itself to adding extra details if the builder so desires.

That looks like an outstanding kit. This video will be super helpful when I build 1.

Fun to watch, I didn't even know who Joseph was until I saw him on ridiculousness, cool car thank you for your video
Looks like a nice kit to build. I'm definitely interested in building a few. Little on the pricey side. We'll see how that'll affect sales.
AWSOME BUILD INCREDABLE WORKMANSHIP
Very cool thanks for sharing 🏁
Thanks for watching!
Stunning work as usual my friend!
Thanks again! You know how hard we have all worked on this project, I am excited for them to finally be out, and in builders hands.
Fantastic build! Thank you Clay.
Really cool. 🏎
Like always great build.
Thanks Clay, I always learn so much from your videos. I am sure this video will be all the talk in the Builders club meeting tonight.
Thanks for checking it out!

Beautiful kit and build!!!!! Will be getting some for sure!!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Welcome back Clay!!!

Beautiful
Looks incredible. Had no doubts. Makes me want to pre order the Kyle Larson Kit. lol appreciate the content Clay.
Well done!
Great video showing the build process, I have the Scott McLaughlin car on pre order and so looking forward to it, keep up the great work, thank you
Thanks, will do!
It's tuh-MEE-yuh or TAM-eee-uh. Definitely not tam-EYE-uh. But holy crap what incredible work
This is very cool. I will say though, it was Tyre Set #22 on the car for the finish, not #28.
I’m guessing you probably have a pretty good idea! 😄 thanks for checking it out.
Fantastic!
How did you get the crown of the monocoque to come together? It seems that you skipped that part of the assembly.
Thanks for sharing. I love my Tamiya F1 kits and have built many.....but current Indy Cars just don't do much for me. Maybe a 70's era McLaren or Egale and I'd spend the $80 then. Thanks!
I feel the same way…almost anything that had a mid mounted Offy or DFV would make me happy
Yup have a huge collection of Tamiya F1. 75 dollars seems like a lot but might try one.
Good stuff Clay! Can't wait to get mine!

🏁Nice video Clay, really enjoyed seeing it at the NNL East show!🏁👍
Thanks Tim, and thanks for doing a video on it on your channel.
epic
I'll have to rewatch this when I start mine.
How does that chrome pain hold up?
I heard it dulls if you touch it?
Thank you. How does this build right out of the box for a new to slight experienced builder? recommended? or another Salvino kit?
Know that’s Cool !! Can’t wait to get my Larson Car
I am looking forward to that one too. Thanks for watching!

Well I was on the fence before now I'll take 4!!!!
That's what we like to hear! Glad you liked it.
Nice ! What finish is on the wheels and control arms?
That is Revell Chrome spray paint. Right from the can.
That’s looks great, I just wish someone would do current F1 cars
Is there any way you can supply a tool list, paint list, and other adhesive list?
Please
Waiting on my kits! What are you using to hold your Micro Set/ Sol? Looks pretty handy!
Very very nice build👌 Where and how do I get one of these kits, and what is the cost???
Are these out yet? I have not seen them. Nice job Clay.
Here ya go.... salvinosjrmodels.com/collections/indycar
Which Chrome did you use on this model ? Much appreciated
Clay what color red for the body? Thanks
I never liked plastruct over tamiya extra thin. Was i doing something wrong
FYI It's pronounced Ta-Mee-Ya . If your don't believe, phone them.
