He made it! Persistence pays. Officer Jacob Mach, APD as of February, 2017. Congratulations!
Jacob Mach is now a Senior Police Officer with the Atlanta Police Department and yesterday was awarded his take-home car. Congratulations Officer Mach!
Love to hear it. Thanks for the update!

Fool
I totally understand Jacob's anxieties..... He probably was never inside a motor vehicle until he was 16-18..... The gunshots remind him of the war back home and to be honest, American accents especially those from the South are difficult to comprehend especially coming from Anglophone Africa.....
💯 "you can't follow simple instructions" well if I'm speaking English but the instructions are African I wouldn't get it either, one love
he's actually in my class right now and doing very well...in the home stretch of training now
i heard that he already passed Evoc this time around and is about to be sworn in as an APD Officer. Congrats Mach!!
Congrats to Mach! You finally made it. It's been a long 4.5 year journey!
the white guy instructor during the target shooting was kind of a prick to him. To say you "give up" on someone is setting a bad example.
I was talking about when he was talking to the girl instructor away from the guy he was working on shooting with .
Logan W YOU HAVE TO BE HARSH
Logan W thats part of the training
Logan W thats part of the training
"MOO" Meridith got him shooting
at least he tried and believed in himself
He got sworn in as a Atlanta police officer Feb 2017.
What an amazing person, so inspiring and admirable
I met this inspiring African brother today. He never gave up and reached his dream.... May God bless him
He would've been an amazing cop. His goal was not only to become the first "Lost Boy" to wear a badge, his goal was to get the bad guys off the streets. He could've made it, he made a small mistake, he had to leave the academy. That doesn't change who he is, it doesn't make him "unfit" to be a cop. It just means he's not ready yet. He was still able to get a job in Law Enforcement, and if that job makes him happy, who are we to judge?
Chris Pickelsimer update: he’s a cop
Jacob Mach became a sworn officer with the Atlanta Police Department today, February 14, 2017! Brings tears of joy to my eyes. Godspeed, Officer Mach.
Man you inspire me. Great job 👏 God bless you my friend.
Very interesting video clip. I am glad he finally realized his dream. He was not ready after the 2013 academy. He is a wonderful person, never give up.
I came across the name (lost boys of Sudane) watching Family Guy, said by Principal Shepherd. Wow! I learn so much from family guy man.
what a lovely guy
I was disappointed to see that Mr. Mach did not make it. In hopes that he is reading this, I hope that he attempts the academy again and makes it to graduation.
Such a GREAT man... Honestly, I only hope & pray that I can go just as strong as he did.
This man is a great human being.
It is difficult to see that he did not completely go through the academy, but his
attitude and desire for success did not change and he continued on, and in the
end it paid off.
Best wishes, Mach.
You're a true inspiration to not only people interested in LE work, but also to those
individuals who were not born in the U.S that came here pursuing the goal of a better way of life, myself included.
Trust me he is a lot better off in code enforcement than humping calls on those streets. Been there done that....the criminal justice system is a dangerous joke. He is going to be fine with a long life expectancy.
Sudanese pride . I hope all goes well for him
What's funny how bad the Atlanta police department needs personal they would sure take him now, but hopefully he is off doing better things
wehen he said he saw people getting eaten by animals I went to tears... because imagine as a kid seeing a lion devour your best friend or something while he screams in pain and you cant do anything about it
This story makes me sad & happy at the same time. I’m so proud of Jacob & happy for him. It makes me sad to think that now in 2020, people like Jacob will never be given this opportunity because of Trump (not my President) but the President of the United States.
wow,im so proud of him 😗
i was hoping he made it.....but hey better they let him go than to to send him out unprepared....hope hes happy with his new job tho
Am absolutely proud of him since color of your skin is not the one which matters but your own strong heart makes you to let your dreams come true.
He actually is a cop now.
Jacob has finally achieved his goal of becoming an Atlanta police officer
they have allowed him to begin a new class and try again. so he is currently in a class now and he is doing very well so far
Proof.....😒😒😒
+No Hetero ??? prove what? that he is in my class... HE IS
+Shauna O 😒😒😒
I feel sorry for him, to go thru all that plus personal things and fail, i hope they let him come back and try again
In the State I live in,having some of the best known law enforcement agencies in the nation,if a recruit gets seperated from the adademy, you can reapply after 1 full year later without going through all the "testing, interview and background investigation".I think Jacob Mach should reapply after a year if Atlanta Police allows him back into the adademy.
this gave my tears, what a humbled, great man
Jacob Deng Mac was my trainee in Don Bosco Kakuma
Roll him over to the next class. Those two women could of spent extra time to get him thru the 1st course. I've been in a academy and the army twice. Weed out the unstable people, Those are the most dangerous to the department. trainers need to spend time training properly. I had to do things the to learn it. Class wasn't my thing. I needed help on running times. My running mate helped & I helped him with firearms. They should pair every recruit up so they can be set up to pass not set up to fail.
That instructor kinda ticked me off that was getting impatient. Jacob is 100x more mentally tough than you bro, he just needs guidance
Very inspiring and thought-provoking,....!
I dont want to spend my days chasing after petty crime. But how can I rather apply to work in the anti terrorism anti organ trafficking unit?
I'm all for the positivity, but is this someone you'd want having a gun and speeding to protect you?
Yes it is.
Troy M okay.
***** Okay, have a nice day! :)
***** Thanks. :)
Jamal Neptune yea
I know 1 of the requirements to become a law enforcement "peace officer"/cop here in this country, you have tobe a U.S. citizen(born or applied tobe naturaized).I'm really proud of this guy.
I was dissappointed he failed EVOC. But everything happens for a reason. I hope Mr. Mach learns from his mistakes, attends academy again and succeeds.
this made me very happy and sad. As a fellow South Sudanese im glad to see opportunities like this being presented to people with hard backgrounds like this. but at the same time i feel bad that he wasnt able to pass the police academy and i don't want people to get the perception that Africans cannot achieve things
Salute to this gentleman! Considering everything he's been through, he seems like a genuinely humble guy. That's amazing & very inspiring to me, I wish you well in life Mr. Mach!
yeah man cap the hommies in Atlanta. teach them the African respect.
Honestly doesn't seem like a guy that should be a cop. Can't follow simple instructions with a gun, jittery, unsure of himself, too aggressive.
patio87 he's a cop now
It seemed like a happy ending to me.
3:37 the kid is watching YT!!
i respect him a lot. hope all goes wel
At least he landed well.
Any updates on Mach?
#youtuberewind :)
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Something Nice whats funny
0 to 60 then back down to 0
يا ابن المحظوظه
Too bad he came all that way to become a racist good for nothing cop :( (sarcasm intended) Glad to see the American Dream is still alive and well.
+Casey C lol
Adam Anderson and men wear scarfs and purses. NO THANKS.
Adam Anderson It's youtube, the internet's bathroom stall wall. Relax.
I love Europe, it's beer, hookers, cheese, ect. But I'm glad I live in M'erica. (stroking my German made Sig Sauer...)
that dude said is that your language or is from another tribe lol i guess they don't have countries in africa. no wonder police departments are called racist.
Atlanta PD is majority black.
That's racist? If that's racist, then racism has no meaning. Perhaps he's assuming something, but to call that racism is ridiculous.
thanks god he didn't become a cop
if you're telling me that you would feel safe with that guy carrying a handgun around you then you're lying
Your welcome *****
Too bad he is an actual Officer now.
Gtfo
Tony Ravioli hes better now than he was before
