Really excellent explanations. I've watched several of your videos this evening and I am impressed. Thank you for investing the time to produce these magnficent lessons. Garrett Vance, Engineer.
my question is, if the audio signal is AC, how do you apply AC to the control grids of the tubes to make them more negative??? or is the audio after the detector considered a pulsating DC because it is all above zero??? if that is the case, how can it be applied to the grid of the output tube without problems?
It's negative DC, not AC How does a Diode, Demodulate AM Amplitude Modulation ruclips.net/video/ej1KCkE_RsY/видео.html AM Radio Demodulation Oscilloscope Demo ruclips.net/video/pKA0TPdnHg8/видео.html AM Detector Demodulator ruclips.net/video/8AWscuGSjsY/видео.html My Free eBook: password 'allamericanfiveradio' The Vacuum Tube Shortwave Radio www.richardmcwhorter.com/vacuumtuberadio/
Rick, if I pick up an old signal tracer and it no longer has a probe, what can I use instead? I was thinking of changing out the connections to BNC but didn't know what probe to buy/use. Thanks.
Make sure that the signal tracer as a switch, that switches between Audio and RF. It's possible that some signal tracer's have this switch on the probe.
Excellent video, I just keep gaining more electronic knowledge as you lecture. I like to know where are the best places to install a signal strength meter ? Could you do a video on signal strength meters? Thanks, Christopher
I really appreciate a signal strength meter video, meters give a sense of the internal works of the radio. However this installation and/or modification is my weak point in radios, Thanks, Christopher
Hi Rick, AAFR, Thankyou for the excellent explanation and demonstration. AAFR radio restoration is a new hobby I think I'll have for a long time. Learning a lot, lot's more to learn. Are you familiar with NTE Parts Direct.com, an electronic parts supplier? I found an electronics parts store in Salem, Oregon that carries them. They look quality and for a very reasonable price. Radio Shack went out of sight on their prices, cant hardly touch 'em, and the supply was limited, too sad. I hope doing well. Check out NTE, they may be affiliated with Mouser. Take care, C.

THANK YOU!!!
Quite a complex circuit but explained so well. I will be referring back to this more than once. Very grateful for the explanation.
Thank you, Bill!
Great presentation! I am a brasilian and your slowly english helped me understand all.
Thank you, and your welcome.
Good vid Rick. I see you have been getting some good use out of that USB scope. Helps make a nice presentation.
Carl
Nice presentation Rick
Could you remove the .05 capacitor to disable the avc? Just to test something. Thanks
That will work and I have done that.

Hi Rich, Very nice and easy explanation.
Thank goodness for this video
Thank you, and you are welcome.

Good Idea, and I will. I have two more video requests to do first.
