  • Reworked soundset for the Class 68 loco model created by DTG. Every sound group inspected and reworked separately to get maximum possible out of what was prepared and edited but not finished by DTG-s sound guys. Basic volume level is identical with Armstrong Powerhouse Pro and Enhancsed series. Totally new and improved distance fading effect, some waveforms edited - mostly just amplified to get better and more realistic balance. Missing in-cab sounds added. Train brake lever operation fixed (stupid emergency position eliminated). New keyboard control mapping for keyboard only operation. Cab view positions added for 'keyboard only' operations with different angles. Operation timeline:
    0.05 DRA on
0.15 Headlights to 'Rear end' position
    0.20 Parking brake on
    0.31 Parking brake off
    0.49 DVD button
    0.51 Sander button
    0.55 AWS reset button
    1.05 TPWS isolation button
    1.14 Wheelslip protection button
    1.22 Engine shutdown
    1.41 Engine startup
2.11 Going to outer view - engine idle at 600 RPM
    2.40 Back to inside view
2.44 ETS startup (Electric Train Supply) ... engine RPM raises to 1150
3.22 Cab heating on steps 1/2 (slower)
    3.38 Locomotive brake lever
3.45 Going to outer view - engine working at 1150 RPM - realistic distance fading effect
4.08 Back to the inner view
4.19 Headlights to daytime driving position
    4.23 Reverser to Forward position
    4.24 Reset testing AWS horn
4.28 AWS Isolation On (for driving train from outer view)
4.29 DVD Isolation ... for the same purpose
    4.47 Departure time
    4.53 DRA off
    5.00 Release train brakes
    5.10 To outer view
    5.12 Horn for depature
    5.19 Throttle to Notch 1 and Go ... Notch 2, 3 ...
    5.42 Back to the idle
7.25 Rear loco is idling at 600 RPM. Usually it's vice versa - ETS is activated on rear engine this way there is less noise in leading cab.
7.42 Jumping to Haymarket station to wait for the approaching train
    7.51 Let's accelerate again
8.30 It is coiming ... electric or dynamic brake on
8.49 Air brake to Apply position
    8.59 We don't stop here ... let's accelerate again
9.40 Notch 5 ... it's enough for double loco formation ... the train is a replacement consist to the unexpectedly removed double Class 170
10.09 Train is passing ... all AP Mk2F wagon sounds are muted for this test to leave a solo part for 68-s only
10.50 We don't want to exceed allowed speed limit so we have to return to idling position
11.00 Locomotive in motion sounds - engine at 1150 RPM
11.15 And we accelerate again because the limit is 100 mph now
11.35 I'm jumping to Edinburgh Park trainstop to watch the passing train
11.55 Horn needs more work. It's not fat enough. But that's how it has been recorded by DTG's soundguy. I even amplifired this sound but it's still not what I want. Everything else is pretty okay.
12.30 Activating dynamic brake - motor and blower sound goes on
    12.53 Dynamic brake off
12,59 Air brake on. We want to stop here for technical reasons.
13.18 Two different brake types mixed together to slow down faster
    13.52 Brake squeal
13.58 Train stops now. Engine working at 1150 RPM
    14.27 Into cab view
14.34 Switching ETS off, engine returns to 600 RPM. We can hear cab heater whine
15.10 To outer view. Engine is working at 600 RPM
    15.25 Wipers working
15.46 Cab heater to faster position
15.48 ... and off. Switching off actually takes time, around 20 seconds.
    16.09 Heater goes off
16.23 Close look to the computer screen. There are 4 different pages available for driver. Beep sound added here
16.37 Different cabviews with differemt angles allow driving witout mouse

Will this ever be made publically available? It's a vast improvement over the original sounds!

Thank You for the interest to this patch. When I started to edit soundset for Class 68 I found surprisingly many sounds been' well recorded by DTG ... but not well used in the blueprints - that gave me lot of optimism to improve this soundset at least to level of Armstrong Powerhouse. Unfortunately in some point I had to use sounds from other packages and finally some sound waveforms required heavy editing. This leaded to problem that I was not able to upload the edited soundset without asking permission from DTG or AP (who's sounds were edited too). There's still a hope that I can replace all edited sounds with something else. I try to do my best to find replacements because very sad I spent many many hours to make this soundset as realistic as possible.
